The day before my debut was a clear and bright spring morning, flowers budding and blooming early this year scented the air with the sweet fragrance of romance, while the birds chirped sweetly welcoming the day. I had risen early to rehearse my dance, as usual, and had cleared the floor in my room to use as much space as possible. I didn't want to make a single mistake, I wanted everything to be perfect. And so I danced, watching as the sunlight beams danced across the floor of my room.
I spent another hour practicing and then went to find something to eat, after all breakfast had been an awful long time ago and I didn't want to work on an empty stomach.
Finding a simple meal of bread and soup ready to eat from the kitchens I bid the cook good day and went to enjoy my meal. Deciding to stay indoors I went back to my rooms and finished my meal, running through the steps of my dance as I ate, counting the timing of each to myself in my head. I was so wound up in counting that I startled and almost jumped when a knock came at my door.
Thankful I hadn't spilled my soup I set it aside and went to get the door. "Hello Kaia," I greeted the younger girl with a smile and knew the instant I saw her that Calandria wanted to see me.
Following Kaia to see the Dowayne I anxiously counted rhythms in my head, marking my steps just as I would a dance. "Are you nervous?" She asked, her question almost a whisper it was so soft, a small smile on her face.
"I am a little," I told her, and finally stopped counting, thinking that I was probably over doing it a little. "I just hope I don't trip or forget anything during my routine." I said, smiling reassuringly.
"I've never seen you mess up before, why would now be different?" She said, puzzled. "Whenever I see you at practice it all looks so effortless and beautiful. I wish I could dance half as well as you can Reina."
"Well, it does take a lot of practice, Kaia. Even I make mistakes, but when you've been at it all your life it really comes down to how well you can work with the miss-step that matters more, I guess." I told her just as we reached the Dowayne's quarters. "Don't worry, someday you will be just as good as I am, maybe even better." I said, letting her knock at the door for me and then shooing her off to go practice more.
