Name: Sophine de Layne
Age: 19
Race (Lineage Origin): D'Angeline / Eisande
Gender: female
Height: 5'6
Home Province/Country:Eisande/Terre d'Ange
Appearance: Dark hair that tends to be unruly, no matter how much she brushes it. A little taller than average, with dark eyes, so dark that they almost seem black. She is slim, but not too skinny; not as developed as she'd like either. She is pretty, but as a D'Angeline, who isn't? In a family of beauties, she might even be called plain (but not by anyone outside of Terre d'Ange).
History: Sophine was born the 7th child of the Comte de Layne in Eisande. Her mother died in childbirth, and her father was so griefstricken he gave little thought to his latest progeny. His eldest daughter, Dyan, who was 14 at the time of Sophine's birth, oversaw Sophine's care, though she was mostly raised by servants. Being the youngest of so many, she really only had a relationship with her siblings that were closer to her age - her brothers, Henri and Marc. Henri was two years her senior, and Marc four. Her elder three brothers (Jacques, Guy, and Marcel) she was never close to. Dyan was married off to another noble family in Eisande, a good arrangement for their family, though Sophine rarely saw her sister again. Guy joined the Cassiline brotherhood, Jacques (as he was the eldest) stayed to be groomed to take over her family's estate, and Marcel was fostered in Namarre. As a child, Sophine, Henri, and Marc spent hours playing in the keep, pretending to pay attention at lessons, and just generally being children. This period was a happy time in Sophine's life, though she often wished for her mother, and that her father would give her the time of day. In his defense, Sophine was the image of her mother, and it was just too painful for him to spend time with her. When Marc was ten and Sophine six, he was sent to be fostered with Marcel in Namarre. Sophine was heartbroken, but held out hope that she would join him in four years. Two years later, Henri was sent to Namarre as well. Those last two years in Eisande were miserable for the young girl, with no one left to pay her any mind. Jacques tried, but he was taken up with his own life and didn't have much time to spare for a quiet 8-year old with a huge imagination. When Sophine turned 10, she was excited to join her brothers in Namarre. Unfortunately her father had decided to send her to be fostered with his close friend, the Comte du Verais, in Kusheth. She threw an absolute fit, which helped in no way, and she was packed off to Kusheth on her 10th birthday.
Upon arrival, she was treated well, and given over to the care of the Comtesse, who had twins Sophine's age, Maric and Lilliane. The three became fast friends and thus Sophine passed the remainder of her childhood in much the same manner as the beginning, only with new playmates. The Comtesse made certain that they were educated in all things proper for young nobles, and Sophine did her best to keep up with her lessons, though she stood out in none. Here she also discovered her love of the sea. Though she had lived near it all her life, it was in Kusheth that she and the twins spent hours on the coast, as the du Verais' estate was on a rocky outcropping overlooking the sea. At sixteen, Sophine is beginning to think seriously about her future, and to try to figure out her place in Terre d'Ange, and in her family, who she hardly knows.
