Wonderful. I was completely sober, completely bored, and without any real outlet. The gambling hall had lost its appeal to me earlier that day already, and there were no fetes occurring that I could bear attending with any sort of dignity; I wouldn't go to lesser nobles houses, not unless they contributed something outstanding for my pleasure. No, tonight I was bored and listless; rather than finding my way towards the Night Court like I had thought on, I chose instead the Adepts Inn, hoping to see an array of pretty little things that caught my attention and interest.
Leaning one arm on the wooden bartop, I drummed my fingers against the polished grains as I waited for my drink to arrive. Already my interest had held on a couple different girls, but nothing yet that made me want to approach them. Stifling a yawn, I turned back to the barkeep, just barely keeping the irritation at the length of wait from my face.

Wonderful. I was completely exhausted, completely disgusted with the inside of my house, and without anyone to complain to. This was the last time I allowed myself to be volunteered for wash duty. The amount of linens of Orchis House must number in the millions. I finally escaped when I bribed a novice or two to take my place. After all, despite what Alexandrine said, I deserved a break.
I strolled into the Adept's Inn, looking for someone to buy me a drink. After all, what was the point of being a woman if no one would buy you a drink? I slid onto a barstool just as a man down the bar yawned.
I signaled to the barkeep. He seemed quite attentive when he saw me. "I would have what he's having," I said to the barkeep, loud enough for the yawning man to hear, "but obviously it's putting him to sleep. So surprise me."

My eyes skimmed over a larger boned woman as she walked in, though my general disinterest and boredom kept me from truly looking her over. When she sat down some few stools away and made a comment obviously meant to travel, I looked at her again, one brow quirking up.
"It's not the drink that has me yawning," I replied somewhat blandly, though a hint of a cocky smile was edging my mouth. "It's more the lack of any real interesting company."

"Well, you've picked a rather odd place to find company," I said, turning on the stool to look at the adepts. "Just think...You could stumble across an adept from Dahlia, too noble to even speak. Or someone from Camilla, too wrapped up in their own perfection to notice you. Or, Gods forbid, a Heliotrope, clingy and only wanting to know what you think about everything." I looked at him out of the corner of my eye, a smile forming on my full lips. "You'd have to be very lucky to find someone interesting here."

"Apparently," I said, lifting a wry brow at her as I took in her figure once more. "You're not of noble birth." A fact, nothing more. "You dismiss others, joke with their habits and personalities... Couple that with that little grin on your mouth, and you must be Orchis."
My own little smile began, and I took another drink from my glass as I awaited her reaction.

I wasn't sure whether to get upset with his remark about my lack of noble birth or not. I did tense up, but I quickly decided that I couldn't be too mad at the man. After all, he was correct. And it was pretty obvious, especially in a casual place such as this. But few people contracted me for my skill at acting like a noble. Still, I knew Alexandrine would be upset, and I tried to sit up straight, crossing my legs at the ankles as I turned back around.
As the bartender set down my drink, I turned my head slightly to look at the gentleman. "True, all true," I said, taking a sip from my drink. I nodded my thanks to the bartender; it was quite good. "Though I wouldn't call it a dismissal. I'm sure there are interesting people in every single house on Mont Nuit, but I have not had the luck to meet them. Therefore I must use my rudimentary skills of observation to draw a a conclusion. I am happy to admit when I am wrong...but so far no one has proven me wrong, on those counts at least."
I turned back to face the bar, taking another sip. "As for you...you strike me as a bored young noble who has far too much money and time on his hands." I shrugged gently, reminding myself to ask the bartender exactly what this drink was. I rather liked it. "How was my guess?"
