Following her in, I barely kept my eyes from seeking out her backside, the lush curve of her rear, the straight line of her shoulders. Lightly placing my hand on the slope of the small of her back, I guided her towards one of the tables set along the side, a fat tallow candle set off to the side of the table giving a gentle glow. "They're supposed to have wonderful food here," I said, letting my tongue skirt d'Angeline and slide back to Cruithne.

"Hmm, well it smells wonderful," I replied in our native tongue, the warmth from his hand on the small of my back travelling throughout my body. I walked to where he guided me, the table was not very secluded but it was private enough, at least for our conversation. I wasn't sure if the events that occurred out in the street would repeat themselves, although a part of me was wishing that it would... just one more time. I looked up at him, turning to a stop at the table, the look in his eyes made the pit of my stomach flutter yet again. I moved to take my seat.
"You say that you have heard the fare is good here," I repeated, sitting down as ladylike as possible though I leaned on my hand, my elbow on the table. "Does that mean you have not eaten here before?"

"I don't think so," I said as I took a seat across from her, my eyes scouting around the room as I took it in. "Not unless I came here so drunk that I simply have no memory of it.
A jovial grin came across my mouth as I looked back to her, her and her hawk-sharp eyes in that pretty little face. Whatever had happened outside... it affected me, but I was trying not to lose control of myself. No, not at all; for her sake as much as mine.

I watched him, my head still in my hand, as he took his seat across from me, his eyes moving around the room. I was about to wonder at it, but his words made me laugh, my eyes peering up at him.
"The liquor here cannot be more harsh than our own!" I exclaimed. "Either that or you just cannot hold your liquor," I challenged with a slanted grin as I leaned back into my seat.

My tongue slipped back to our mother language; it was so much easier for me to talk to her with, and besides, I rather missed using it. "You've figured me out," I said, feigning hurt by touching my hand where my heart would lay. "I am a lightweight drinker. Two glasses of wine is more than enough to send the room tilting around me."

"If that were true," I said with a laugh, speaking in Cruithne, "which I know it not to be, that would make you an interesting man to bet against. Mayhap I will have to try my luck," I murmured nonchalantly. "Too bad it's not though, I am sure you would find yourself with many female friends if it were." I joked. The banter was like what would have been between soldiers going to battle, but there was a complement couched in there. I was just hoping he wouldn't call me out on it.

An air of old comrades in arms; I went with it as easily as if I'd been talking to Sebastian, rest his soul. "I already find myself with many female friends," I said as if nonchalant, though the dismissive boredom of it was overacted beyond the point of any realism. Stretching my arms up and back, I played at yawning; more to cover my own building smile than anything else.

I raised an eyebrow in mock disbelief, leaning forward. "And let me guess," I murmured, "You get them with your dashing good looks and quick wit. Too bad it didn't rely on your ability with your sword, you would surely have more," I smiled, then, thinking on teh double meaning, I felt my cheeks heat involuntarily.

I tilted my head, taking her quite literally with her wording. "My sword has saved your life, has it not? Surely you do not doubt my abilities." Grinning, I leaned back as the waitress came by, and with a wordless gesture, I let Faolan order what she wanted first.

"I... well.. yes... I mean no, I don't doubt your ability with your.." I stammered but was saved, thank the Gods, by the waitress coming to take orders. I had no menu, had no idea what kind of fare they had, so I ordered a drink instead. "I will have a red wine." I was still recovering from his comment. If I agreed, as I should in the sense that he put it, I would also be agreeing to the twist that I had put on it. Hoping the waitress would buy me a few more moments to think it through, my cheeks heating yet again, while she took his order. I was terrible at this damned flirting game. Give me a bow and arrow, I am fine, but hand me a man, and I'm as erratic as the shifting sea.
