Post by Augustin de Trevalion (D) on Feb 16, 2005 2:21:40 GMT -5
Name: Augustin de Trevalion, Prince of the Blood, Duc de Trevalion
Age: 26
Race: D'Angeline
Gender: Male
Appearance: Augustin takes more after House Trevalion than any other House he is related to. His father says he is the exact image of Baudoin de Trevalion, his grandmother's brother. He is tall at 6'1, and slender, though fit and muscular from hard training in the Queen's Army. His skin is slightly tanned from exercising in the sun. His hair is dark as a raven's wing, falling straight to his shoulder blades, though he usually keeps it tied back. His eyes are a light sea-grey.
History: Augustin's father is Lucien de Trevalion, the son of Bernadette de Trevalion and Ghislan nó Trevalion. Lucien married Kristiana Aiatas, the daughter of a Marquis from Namarre. In keeping with his parents and grandparents, Augustin is the Scion of Elua, Anael, Azza, and Naamah. But despite the variety of bloodlines, he took on the look of House Trevalion, which is fitting since it is the House he has inherited. He also has the mark of the Scions of Anael (the apple scent), a mark also shared by his brother Sabriel.
In their youth, Augustin and Sabriel were the terrors of Azzalle, and anything that caught their eye was sure to be in trouble. For the most part it was a companionable rivalry, and they were beloved by all. That was, until they met Annabel Morreaux. Annabel was a rare beauty, even in a land known for such things. The friendly rivalry became strained as Annabel refused to settle on one of the brothers, and discouraged neither, even as their feelings for her grew. One morning, saw the end of pretense of friendship between the brothers. Sabriel and Annabel were out riding in the low morning fog, when Annabel's horse stumbled, throwing her and breaking her neck instantly. Sabriel carried Annabel's body back to the Trevalion estate, where he came upon Augustin in the practice ring with their father. Heartbroken and in a black rage of grief, August struck Sabriel with his sword across the cheek. The brothers have not spoken since, nor seen each other in eight years as Sabriel was temporarily banished from Azzalle, a temporary exile that Sabriel has extended for eight years. August carries a hole inside him for the loss of his brother, but does not think the punishment Sabriel received was undeserved.
In friendships August has been more fortunate, when he was eight, he traveled to Marsilikos with his parents to visit the Lady of Marsilikos. By chance, Augustin happened to find his third cousin, Ambrose de la Courcel, unknowing that Ambrose had been sent to Marsilikos in secrecy. The two formed an immediate friendship, as they are only a year apart in age, and through the years Augustin made frequent visits to Ambrose while he stayed in Eisande. When Ambrose went to the University of Tiberium, Augustin lost touch with his cousin. It was then he made the decision to join the Queen's Army. He always looked up to his father as a boy and because of that, Augustin chose to follow the footsteps of his great grandfather, grandfather, and father. He moved quickly through the ranks, as he was a savvy and capable soldier, and thus, a shrewd and valuable lieutenant. When the War began, Augustin was immediately sent to Marsilikos. It was there he was reunited with his cousin, and their close relationship was reformed. Augustin fought with Ambrose as his lieutenant throughout the War and proved his worth a dozen times over. August found in Ambrose the bond of brotherhood that had been vacant since Sabriel was sent away.
After the War, August returned to the City, and to the life he once knew as a courtier and Peer of the Realm. Augustin loves the life of the courtier, as he was never shy, even as a child. If he had not been born into a noble House, he would have surely gone to Orchis House.
Update
Recent events have done to August what not even a war could do. The assassination of King Ambrose wracked August with guilt and a period of insanity settled upon him. He became violent and unpredictable, developing a taste for blood that bordered on psychosis. He was drawn to Valerian and in specific an adept named Mara. He became obsessed with her and his actions were enough so that word of it even leaked to his long lost brother in Aragonia and Sabriel returned to challenge August for his title.
One day at Valerian, August came so close to killing Mara that it frightened even him. He left her and this so hurt Mara that she committed suicide. Mara’s death drew August from his darkness. He began working to again become the man he had been, the man Mara said she saw within him.
August has returned to normalcy now, though he is still haunted by a sadness at times that makes him tend towards more seriousness than before. He has also come to realize his love for Mirielle Bellamont, and asked for permission to court her. She granted his request and he spends his time now between his duties as Sovereign Duc and proving his true love to Mirielle.
Tragedy insinuated itself into August's life again, for the last time. While helping repair a wall at the estate, August was trampled by a runaway ox as he steered thebeast clear of two children. His injuries were too great for any hope of survival and he died in the arms of his beloved, betrothed Mirielle.
