One week before the Somerville Fete.
I had been working on some items for the town house, some taxes and what not, when the letter from my aunt arrived.
"My lord," There was a voice at my door and I waved in the young man. "Its come from Azzalle." I nodded and he placed down the letter on my desk, bowing and then retreating.
I opened the letter in haste, breaking the wax seal and opening the folded parchment.
Dearest Damien;
I must say I am surprised, firstly that you have found some one you wish to settle down with. Secondly because she is an adept.
I am of two minds when if comes to this information. I am happy for you, that you have found love, but unsure that a former adept will make a good wife. She doesn't bring a dowry of any sorts, nor contacts or land to increase your position. But something tells me that you care little for that and only care to follow Elua's precept.
I do worry at what the cost of marrying below you will take on our House's name, but I can not in good conscious not support you, especially if you love her the way you say you do.
I have levied the funds to pay for the rest of her marque. I hope that you are doing this for the right reasons, I also hope that you do truly love her and that she makes you happy.
I love you dearly.
Your beloved Aunt;
Madeline
I sighed and placed the letter down, both relieved and sadened at the same time.
I loved Aurianne and I believed truly that I wanted to marry her. It was hard to have my aunt conjecture at the state of our relationship. But at the same time I was over the moon that I could now pay for Aurianne to be free.
I sat to writting two letters. One in return to my Aunt, and one to the Dowayne of Camellia. As soon as I could, I would make the necessary arrangments.
There was hope and happiness in my actions and I was excited for the coming days.
