I had many feverish dreams, in one I was chasing Uruz asking for him to wait as he ran and I tried to catch up. In another we were under attack by large beasts. In another he was dieing and I was crying. The only thing that stayed constant was the central point, Uruz.
Slowly they faded and I realized I heard voices and that I was not running around Skaldi. I opened one eye just a crack, faining sleep in case I was in a bad situation. I didn't see strange men in armor and swords, instead I saw a young girl in a white dress of sorts. She was tending to someone in another part of the room. I slowly opened both eyes and looked around. I was not sure where I was but I could tell it was someplace nice.
"You are finally awake," I heard a young voice next to me say. I looked over and a boy of about 17 was smiling down at me. For a moment I thought he was an angel, but then I realized he was in fact a d'Angeline. Though some do argue that they are born of angels.
"Where am I?" I asked and was surprised to hear how dry and cracked my throat sounded. The man handed me a cup to drink and I did. It was some kind of herbal tea, warm and very soothing. I was thirsty all of a sudden so I drank the rest down in one gulp.
The man laughed a little to himself and then said, "be careful, you don't want to make yourself sick, you have been out for some time. Someone was smiling down on you for you to have lasted this long."
When he spoke I looked at my arms and then my chest. I had grown quite thin and was surprised to see it. The boy gave me more to drink and as I sipped it he filled me in on the plague and how I was left at Balm hoping for a kind heart. The House couldn't take in just anyone, but this particular adept had felt sorry for me and had taken me in as his own though there would be no pay.
While I was awake I still had to recover and I spent two more weeks at Balm. I gained enough strength to walk and felt I could rightly care for myself. I would not take anymore away from the kind lad or this special House. I would always old them a debt of graditute and I intended to repay it some day. I made sure I remembered the boy's name and told myself I would never forget it.
With a fond farewell I made my way from Balm and set on a mission. I had to find out where Uruz went and what happened to him. I prayed that he did not subcom to the plague as I had, or even worse that he had died. I also prayed that I would find out something and not spend the rest of my life wondering around looking for him.
