I hadn't passed through these gates in six years, not since the night I was going to propose to Saffryn. Not since I stormed out. It was decidedly unpleasant then, passing back through them, even for a jewel such as Shona. A jewel that was going to be in my employ soon, not their's. That thought made me smile ferally and stalk through the gates.
I stood waiting in the main hall, looking around at the familiar place. I almost hoped I'd see Saffryn. But then again, I didn't want to as well. A quandary.
"My lord de Somerville? Dear gods it's been ages since we last saw you! A senior adept, one I knew but couldn't name for the life of me came up to my side and bowed. He looked puzzled but covered it smoothly.
"I'm here for Shona. She lost a wager." curt, barely civil. I wanted out of here.

I was on my way to the Hall, as indicated, when Raymundo came to me, grabbing me by the wrists, a little sourly. “You minx!” he said aggressively, “Maurice de Somerville is here for you, and you make him wait?” I looked at him, and hissed, jerking my wrist free of his hold, “Never touch me again, you tit,” I told him dryly. “Why do you think I’m attired this way?”
If he weren’t twice my size, I’d have likely smacked his face. As it was, I only glared at him as I massaged my wrist. I only prayed it wouldn’t bruise, though thankfully the gloves would hide it if he had. Well, in a way, I almost did – it gave me something to make him pay for. “Well, make sure to win his patronage back, now, won’t you?”
I nodded complacently, pleased that he had no idea what was coming. “But of course my lord,” I replied with a mock curtsy. “And if you marked me with your bear paw, know I’ll be sending you a bill.”
With that, I left, fuming. A half-minute later, I was in the presence of Reese, and I bobbed a half curtsy, mostly for show, since he didn’t much like it, I knew. “My Lord,” I said as I took a step to place my hand on his arm. “You look stunning, tonight, Reese,” I whispered, just for he and I. “Let’s get out of here, yes?”

I could feel eyes on me as I stood waiting, hands shoved in my pockets. It was tempting to start glaring, flipping rude gestures, possibly pummel someone. If she didn't show up I'd half consider it-
My breath caught as I watched her approach. Gorgeous. She was gorgeous in a gown that I wanted to peel off her body and cast on my floor. It would look perfect there, with her spread like a feast on my sheets. Only way it would be better would be Juliette next to her, reaching out-
Enough. Focus on the game. She came up to me and put her hand on my arm after bobbing a quick curtsy. I smiled at that. I wasn't one for formality.
"Yes. The sooner your house mates stop giving me the hairy eyeball the better. Vampires." I muttered darkly and wrapped my arm around her waist to lead her out. No doubt she'd take offense to it, but she was to be my employee, no longer one of them.
I lead her out to the carriage and offered her a hand in.
"You look divine by the way."

Reese did two things simultaneously that made me grin, and chuckle. For one, he wrapped his arm around me casually, as though I were not his adept, but a woman he were to spend the evening with… well, that was the deal, wasn’t it? The other, this very amusing comment about Bryony – and truth be, although there were a few exceptions, I didn’t care much for my housemates.
Huh. Vampires. I could think of a few things more displeasing to label that arse Raymundo. That made me want to laugh, for the long list of epithets that coursed in my mind, though I only gave him a happy, amused grin as I accepted his offered hand.
“Thank you, handsome,” I replied as I entered the carriage. I waited for him to get settled, and when he was, I added, “You know, I think you’re kind. The man whom you sent to fetch deserves far worse. Like parasite, balkan beetle or guano gatherer, for example.” The latter made me stifle a true laughter. I really didn’t like Raymundo, in particular. As I'd told him quite truthfully earlier, he was a tit.

"Yeah, he always was a poxy bastard. Can't remember his name though, so he can't be that important in the food chain. I admit to being terrible with names, Shona, only remembering the important ones. Another sad duty for my casinó maestria, should she take me up on my generous offer." I settled across from her in the carriage, and decided it was too empty next to me.
I reached across the space and hauled her into my lap, careful not to rumple her dress too much. She was a delightful warm weight against me. I liked her laugh, it was honest. A rairity amongst Bryony's ilk. I ran my finger down her bare sholder, admiring her skin.
"No hurry on accepting. I do want to enjoy my winnings tonight. Not everyday I take a woman to a fete. Usually go alone and prowl." I traced the fragile skin of her collar bones up to her neck, entranced by her skin. She felt as divine as Juliette did. She just lacked that primal spark I'd felt when I touched my little Mouse.

I laughed lightly, glad that my name followed immediately his profession of faith at not remembering them – apparently, my name was important enough not to be lost in oblivion. Well. He did want to steal me from Bryony, after all, I thought wryly to myself. I did gave him a smile, though, something warm and promising. My mind was quite made up, in truth, though I didn’t feel like talking business so soon. He was too appetizing for this to be a cold transaction. Bah. With me, it never was – it wasn’t really in me to be that way.
“Conveniently, I have a mind for pleasure as well, Reese,” I replied as his hand traced a warming line of arousal on my skin. My arms wrapped gently around him, a gesture that was affectionate and sensual, but not one bit clingy. I laughed, and added, “I can see you prowling indeed, you have the quality of a predator at times. But…” I bit my lips, and tried to get a lock on his gaze, “It’s more fun to prowl in good company than alone, isn’t it?”

I considered her seriously for a long moment, studying her and thinking. Yes, it was easier to bring a quarry to ground with help.
I thought of Juliette. Her bare, scarred hands. Skin like silk. Her face flushed and gorgeous with anger as she looked at me, only me in those moments. Would Gratien take a lure from Shona and leave me an opportunity to secret Juliette away for a few moments?
"A companion has their uses. Though I admit, I like prowling alone. Don't think I've ever played well with others, lovely." I scooted her a little higher on my lap, damn erection getting in the way of sitting comfortably. A side effect of thinking on Juliette. Damn nuisance at times.
"But the idea has merit. What do you go on the prowl for?" I was genuinely curious. My fingers traced the shell of her ear.

He very visibly was assessing me, or my idea, and I underwent the scrutiny without batting an eyelash, smiling sweetly. It didn’t seem such a bad idea – and I hadn’t really said so for myself, but rather as a generic statement, something likely he understood in his examination of both me and my words, judging by the nonchalant comment that followed.
He shifted me, and I felt, through his breeches, his desire already blooming, though considering our entanglement, it wasn’t entirely surprising. Well. That was fast, though – faster than at the tsingani hole. He was touching my ear, and I gave him a little whimper for it, desire starting to flare in me at an even pace. “Fun,” I replied without really thinking about it. “Fun and opportunities, I guess,” I added. In my mind, they had to go together. Such was my way. I wriggled just a little on his lap. I rather enjoyed the thought of his manhood pressed inside me once more.
He had the look of a schemer on his face, though, and so I gave him a look of assessment myself, and added, in a tone that was rather professional, but not without playfulness. “Alright, Reese, what’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”

I pressed her firmly down on my erection and gave her a lascivious smile.
"I'd say you were the beautiful one, Bellisima." I leaned back, thinking quickly. Gratien probably wouldn't go for Shona. But it was worth a shot.
"I need to speak to a woman tonight. Privately. Just speak mind you. She'll be with my oh so charming older brother and he's a little... overprotective. If you'd be willing to help with that..." I shrugged, looking her over, mainly down her dress. Those breasts were truly fantastic.

I chuckled, then my shoulders started convulsing, and I laughed lightly. Reese wanted me to help him get a woman. It was too rich. Bah, it could be fun, perhaps? "I rather like you, so I might accept to help you out, but..." I gave him an amused grin. "How truly charming is that brother of yours?"
Huh. I had to see what would happen, and how I could do that. It was worth a shot, though...
He was hard, very hard against my buttocks, and the desire kept its growing course through me. I smiled, feeling the urge to tell him to have me, then and there. Bah. Good things come to those who wait.
