Name: Marie Laveau de Bouchard, Duchesse de Bouchard
Age: 21
Height: 5'6
Gender: Female
Race: D'Angeline (Eisandrine, some lineage of Azzallese and Siovalese)
Home Province: Eisande
Appearance: Marie is a dark pool in all her features. Her hair is a deep mahogany brown, the merest hint of gold and red shining through when the light hits it. Her eyes are so dark they look black and hold almost no reflection, as if deep dark secrets are locked away. By far, its Marie's eyes that are her greatest asset, seductive and hypnotic. Her body is slender, but carries with it the perfect curve of a woman in bloom. Marie's only down fall, in her mind, is her height, a paltry five foot six.
Personality: A word to describe this young lady is cruel. Though if you said that to her she would disagree whole heartedly. For her what appears to be cruelty to the unobserving eye is just truth and blunt honesty. Marie never lies, its her one...and some times only... rule for how she lives her life. Despite the fact that had she have been bound to the Night Court she would have gone to Mandrake, Marie does not particularly swing to that side of love making. In her mind she is closer to a Priestess of Naamah then most, and trained in the art of love making. Its an art to her. Even so, Marie is vicious and this she doesn't deny, in the bedroom and out. She's not afraid to throw her financial weight around, and to her, any one in lesser ranking is considered beneath her.
History: What couldn't be said about Marie, for those who meet her she seems to have done it all, something that shows in her eyes. Born to the Comte Fransçois Laveau and the Comtesse Marie-Annette Laveau, Marie is the third and last of their children.
Marie was born of wealth and privilege, utterly and completely. She always had the best, it didn't matter what it was, if something she had was marked or dirty, a new one would be purchased. What ever she wanted Marie got. Not the whole family mind you, just Marie. She was the youngest and the only girl and so her mother doted on her, to the distaste of the other members of her family and staff. It was often heard Marie remark that when her mother wasn't home, that Marie was the Comtesse and to be treated as such. Her mother found it adorable, the staff did not.
Fransçois had come from a prominent Eisandrine family with much in the way of funds as well as title, Marie-Annette was the only child of her very wealthy family and brought with her a very large dowry. Combined, the family was more then well off and they were not afraid to make it be known to those families around them.
Like most D'Angeline children, Marie got an upstanding education, her mother always pushing to make sure that Marie was better then other children her age. But the older she got, the more trouble she became and under her father's orders Marie's mother was told to keep her busy away from their Eisandrine estate. At the age of six Marie was brought to the City of Elua for the first time, and the first time she saw the Night Court. Her mother some how got the idea to send Marie into the service of Naamah. It was a futile attempt thought, as after meeting a number of the Dowaynes Marie was dubbed unsuitable and turned away from pretty much every one of the houses. The only house that would even think about taking her was Mandrake, and there was no way that Marie's mother would allow her daughter to become a Mandrake. But the experience got her mother thinking and when Marie turned eight she was sent to Namarre to be fostered at a Temple of Naamah. It was a trifle for Marie, though she was more then alright with being away from her family, she found the studying tedius as she found most of her academics. For two years Marie bounced around Namarre, from temple to temple causing disturbances, till she found one with a girl a few years older then her training to be a Priestess. They bonded instantly and the older girl let her in on secrets that Marie keeps to this day.
At fourteen Marie returned to her home in Eisande, the model of perfection and a little lady. Her mother was pleased at the transformation, and once an energetic, bounding child without control, was now a measured young courtier. She continued with her studies for the next two years, studying and doing what all young ladies should, her mother grooming her for the day she would marry. The day would come sooner then anyone thought. At sixteen, Marie's family ventured to the City of Elua for the winter, something that was done every year. It was at the Longest Night fete that Marie met the Duc Lazare de Bouchard from Camlach. Lazare was an aging man, well into his sixties and a widower, his wife dieing in childbirth. Lazare was taken with the sweetly innocent Marie and her dark lustrous eyes. He fell for the girl, deeply, and when Lazare found out that sweet Marie was a virgin, well that did him in. He pursued the girl through out the winter, begging her to give into him. But Marie was stead fast and never did. When spring came and she returned to Eisande, Lazare wrote to her every week. He sent her gifts; books, money and jewels, and yet she denied him. The following year at their second Longest Night Lazare begged for her. That year Marie relented, she told him that he could have her virginity if he promised to marry her and make her the Duchesse de Bouchard.
Just after Marie's 18th natal they were wed and Marie moved to Camlach, taking with her, her own sizable dowry. Marie hated Camlach. Not to mention that fact that her new husband had two children from his previous marriage, Louise four years younger then her and Maurice six years older. At first it wasn't too bad, Marie managed to bond with Louise at least a little. But Maurice de Bouchard was the worst, he seemed to be on Marie's every step, every thought, he was there. Marie's largest bone of contention with her step son, is who was to inherit. By right it would fall to Maurice, the first and only son of her husband. But in Marie's mind it should be her own child that should inherit since she is the current Duchy holder. For a year Maurice was her shadow until he was called away to war and Marie was left with her husband in her care. She was at least content for the mean time. That was until Lazare died. One night of love making, in the dead of winter, and Lazare was no more.
It didn't mean much to Marie, she never truly loved Lazare and it had been a strategic move to marry the Duc. And now she was left with all his money....and his children. But Marie found a way to make herself happy. She loved the City of Elua, and after many fights with Maurice it was decided that Marie would stay in the City for most of the year, only returning to Camlach when absolutely necessary. She was perfectly happy with this arrangement. After all, she hated Camlach. Marie holds many secrets as she settles herself in their City of Elua town house. One of which being that despite telling her husband she had lit her candle, she hasn't yet and vows to only do so when she requires the pawn of a child.
