I had grown terribly bored sitting around Orchis house, and the weather was beautiful, so I took it upon myself to go out into town and stir things up a bit. I had dressed as modestly as I would allow myself, in a canary yellow dress that just reached my knees, though it did bear a high neckline, coming up into a lace choker around my neck. My hair I put up a bit recklessly, pinned here and there, loose tendrils falling about my face. The pins I used were a gift sent to me by my mother on her travels, made of jade, she said that she had purchased them from a Ch'n merchant who was also traveling. I missed her letters and gifts, which had slowed when I reached my majority, but at least they still came now and then.
Strolling into Elua's Square, I spotted the fountain that I had so adored in my youth. The hustle and bustle all around me was a joy, bringing life back into my day. I walked over to the fountain and sat on it's edge, dipping my fingers in the water. Elua's Balls, it was cold! I chuckled and looked around, hoping not to get into too much trouble for what I was about to do. I slipped off my silken yellow slippers and dipped my feet into the fountain, letting the cold water cool my body, which was far too warm from the sun. It felt so good, having the water on my legs, up to my calves. Mayhaps someone would come and join me, now that would make the day much more interesting indeed!

Another day, another opportunity to explore. This time when I left the house, I headed in a totally new direction and eventually found myself in the center of the City and gazing upon the magnificent fountain in Elua’s Square.
Smiling, I moved to the edge of the fountain and took a seat, reaching in and letting my fingers trail in the water.

Glancing over at the pretty young thing that had chosen to take a seat beside me, I wondered if she was the type to get terribly upset about little things. I longed for conversation, or at the very least, play, so I decided to risk behaving a little childish.
With a quick motion I splashed water in her direction, not too much, so as to avoid getting her clothing wet, just enough really to splash her hand and perhaps her wrist. I was already waiting with a coy smile, for I knew she would be looking in my direction shortly.

I jumped a little and laughed with surprise as water flicked onto my wrist. I looked up at the beautiful woman in yellow who had to have been the source of the water. Returning her smile, I flicked water back at her, aiming for her legs.

I laughed as the water splashed on my legs, enjoying the coolness of it. I then splashed just a bit more at the lovely woman, hoping to get up to her elbow this time.
"Well met, M'lady," I chuckled, a wide smile on my face. She had a nice laugh, and an even better smile, the sort that reached all the way to her eyes. I appreciated that in a person, that sort of honest smile.
"Nice day, isn't it?" I asked, trying for some sort of conversation.

“Oh it’s just lovely,” I said, smiling as I shook off my arm and stood, moving closer to her. I pointed to the water where her feet were. “Mind if I join you?”

I had gone out for my usual stroll in an effort to better my social skills. I wouldn't help but to notice the two ladies splashing each other at a fountain near by. I stood idly by trying to decide if I should say hi or just leave them to their fun.

"Not at all!" I replied, glad for the company. "So what brings you out and about? Shopping about the markets, just plain bored, or looking to stir up trouble with the handsome young lads that are about?" I grinned and nodded at the good-looking blond man nearby.
"Like him, for example."

I slipped off my shoes and sat next to her, letting my feet sink into the cool water.
“Just out exploring,” I answered, smiling. “I’m new to the City and still getting my bearings.”

I was pretty sure I saw one of the ladies acknowledge me, though I was not close enough to know what she was saying. Since she has probably notice me noticing them I figured it would be best to walk over and say hi. I did not want to come across as being too strange even though I am sure I usually do.
I gave a friendly smile as I closed the distance between us and then said, addressing both of them, "hello, my name is Caine, mind if I have a sit here by the fountain?"

I clapped my hands together, glad that my nod had brought the man forward.
"The more the merrier!" I exclaimed, splashing a bit in the fountain. "If you don't mind, of course," I said to the girl beside me.

“Not at all, like she said, the more the merrier,” I said, smiling wide.
“I’m Josette,” I told them both.

I had ventured out of Gentian early that day. Off I went to the Artisans District for another morning of tea and a trip to the book store. I had found a short and truly inexpensive short story and headed to Elua's Square to enjoy a few chapters by the fountain. It was always a pleasant place to read and perhaps with a little luck it would prove to be another good opportunity for a chance encounter. There were a fair amount of people moving about and the sounds became peripheral to me as I began to be engrossed in a chapter. When I came to the edge of the fountain I noticed I had not been the only one tempted by the setting. Not three yards away two lovely women and a man were laughing and smiling at the fountains edge. It was a wonderful site and in light of recent events I found myself to be more they pleased with the site of happy people. The scene was good and I caught myself admiring a little to obtrusively.

I returned their welcoming smile, happy to see it. "My name is Caine no' Cereus. I am glad to meet you both."
I stayed standing near them since it made it easier to communicate. I did not want to sit in between them and interrupt their talk, nor did I want to put myself out of the loops. It seemed like the most proper position to take.

I bowed my head at them both, glad they had offered their names. Josette had offered no last name or title, so I couldn't assume anything about her position. Caine, however, was an adept of Cereus house, which made me smile. I always loved meeting adepts of other houses, learning more about Naamah's service in ways that differed from my own.
"I am Denise no Orchis," I said, giving my name. "More than pleased to meet you both. Cereus house, hmm? I don't believe I've met many adepts of Cereus house. Quite different from Orchis, isn't it? I've only ever been there for the Midwinter Masque, and then it's hard to tell who's who, isn't it?"
I laughed, noticing a pretty blond girl out of the corner of my eye, watching us. "It seems we have garnered even more attention. "
With a grin on my face I waved her over. "Come, you are more than welcome to join us! There's plenty of sun and fountain for everyone, and I've got smiles to go around!"

I wondered a little at Caine introducing himself twice, but made no mention of it. I looked at the girl Denise had spoken out to. It seemed we were indeed becoming quite a crowd.

I looked toward the person that Denise was inviting over. It was another young lady. I wondered how much larger our group would grow. It would be good for me to meet and talk with as many as possible. I did tend to clamp up when in large group, especially if they were chatty.
I made a internal vow that no matter how many people joined our group I would talk and be social.

I turned my attention back to Caine while waiting for the girl to respond to Denise.
"Not going to join us in the water?" I asked with a playful smile, wriggling my toes in the cool water of the fountain.

I looked at Josette when she spoke to me. She really was quite pretty. She had a personality about her that made you want to spend time with her.
I smiled and decided that sitting down with the girls wouldn't be such a bad move. I sat down next too Josette. I still did not want to come between the girls, though I would have enjoyed that seat plenty enough. I hoped that Denise didn't take it personally.
Since one couldn't wriggle toes with shoes on, I took off my simple boots and stockings, laying them close to the fountain where they couldn't leave my sight. While the chances of someone stealing my things were pretty small, it was a habit that I would probably never drop.

My smile grew as Caine sat down next to me and removed his boots. I hiked my skirts up a little higher as the hem was becoming in danger of getting soaked.

I rolled up my pant legs and slowly placed my feet in the water. I was actually pretty nice so I relaxed them and let them rest in the bottom of the fountain.
I looked over at Josette with a slightly shy smile on my face and said, "This is pretty nice, thank you."

I watched for a short bit before making my approach, it was far to entertaining to pass up. It wasn't just good company that broke me but the mere idea of settling my feet in the cool water. Which as the current interaction progress seemed a bery likely possibility. "I don't mind if I do Thank You." I offered to the charming young lady who addressed me. "Khyellomai no Gentian, a pleasure to meet you." The book I had been reading was carefully tucked in my left arm as I nodded my very casual greeting. I had no familiarity with any of them but did not want to offend either.

I smiled at the other girl who joined us. Khyellomai…what an unusual name. It occurred to me that I was the odd one out here, being the only non adept. It didn’t bother me though, in fact I found it wonderful for I had no experience with adepts and was curious about them and their lives.

I turned as another member of the group addressed me. "Caine no Cereus- of course," I offered him a sparkling gaze- Cereus, no small wonder as I took in the bredth of him; "well what brings such fine adepts out today?" I continued to him and also to Denis with a side long glance and open smile. I offered a quizical look to the second women as well wondering if she was an adept as well.
