Name: Elton Tulare, Chevalier de la Genette, Captain of the D’Neige Guard
Age: 36
Race: D’Angeline
Gender: Male
Appearance: Tall, broad shouldered, Elton has been trained as a warrior and knight from infancy. Dark brows slant over pale eyes, and his face is often serious, which balances the beauty of his features. There is often stubble on his face, and his dark hair is longish, in need of cutting. Elton is quiet in nature, and surpassed by few at feats of arms, even Jaiden has been defeated by him, but not often. Elton’s weapon of choice is the hand and a half Bastard Sword, an irony not lost on Jaiden.
History: Elton grew up with Jaiden Liatris, was her playmate, her antagonist, her comrade in arms, they trained and fought together, and eventually were lovers. Sandor Tulare, Elton’s father, served Eddard Liatris as his Captains of the Guard and right hand vassal. The two men shared much the same relationship as Jaiden and Elton. Briefly Eddard and Sandor were lovers in their youth, but it ended when both married their first wives, respectively. They were twin souls linked in life, and in death. Shortly before the attack that killed Lord Eddard, Sandor was slain in a raid. Lord Eddard was devastated at his friend’s death. Elton was promoted to Captain of the D’Neige Guard, he had the leadership, the skill and honor that his father had.
The day the old Duc died, Elton was not with the party, he had been sent ahead to scout and notify the fortress of the Duc’s arrival. Elton blamed himself for their deaths. Since the bodies of Tatiana and Jaiden were missing, Elton had hope that they yet lived and searched for months. When the agent of the Crown along with the other noble Houses decreed House D’Neige dead, he fought them. Nothing would convince him that his lover was dead. He knew, bone deep, that Jaiden yet lived.
After Jaiden’s return from the dead, things between them were radically different. Elton was shocked at the changes wrought in Jaiden. Gone was the fierce, laughing girl he had loved. In her place was a cold, unfeeling shell wearing a beloved face. He would have left many times over, if not for his sworn vows, and the rare hint of soul lurking in Jaiden’s depths. He served her faithfully, with sword and heart. Inside, he still loves her, and has hope. But with the ever downward spiral of events in the City, and Jaiden’s continued distance, his hope fades.
