“Do you enjoy being alone or were you trying to escape?” I asked curiously. Then I blushed softly. “Forgive me if I’m prying.”

I glanced at her, then immediately wished I hadn't. A blush covered her smooth cheeks, and I had to struggle with myself to keep from touching her face. "Originally I was trying to escape," I said, smiling softly at her. "But I wouldn't trade the company I have now for anything else."

My blush deepened. “You are going to make me permanently pink cheeked,” I said, smiling.

"Good," I said, flashing such a large grin that it seemed my cheeks should have hurt from it. I was sure by now that it was no secret that I enjoyed Leynas company, but I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. And, I grudgingly had to remind myself, she was with someone else, and a Prince toboot.
I turned and watched her dog race ahead of us, bounding and sniffing, skirting a couple of giggling children with more grace than I'd have thought possible. "How long have you had her?" I asked, glancing back to Leynas pretty face.

“Almost four years now,” I said, grinning at Shylah’s antics. “I found her when she was a puppy. She’d been attacked by something and I nursed her back to health.”

"Lucky dog," I said with a soft smile as I looked at Leyna. "She was fortunate that you found her. Do you do that often, help injured animals?"

“Yes,” I said, smiling at him. “Anything to do with animals and I’m drawn to it. The husbandry aspect of Anael’s blood has shown up strong in me, much to my mother’s dismay at times.”

My smile grew, and I kicked a stone with the toe of my leather boot as we walked. "I would bet every last gold mark I own that your mother is more proud of it than you realize," I said with a slightly goofy grin. "Granted, I don't actually have any gold marks since they all went to completing my marque, but... that's not the point."

My eyes widened slightly and I smiled at him excitedly. “You finished it?” I asked.

"I did," I said with a wide grin at her excitement. "Just after my last assignation, actually. You can see the top of it by my collar, I would think," I said, a note of pride in my voice.

I craned my neck and could in fact see the top of the finial of his marque above his collar.
“May I …” I caught myself before I finished my question, blushing furiously and looking away at what I’d been about to ask him. I was too embarrassed to even begin to apologize.

My hand twitched towards her face before I could stop it, and I stopped us, smiling softly at her. Gods, all I wanted to was kiss her, wrap my arms around her and hold her close to me. "Would you like to see it?" I asked gently.

“Yes,” I admitted, still blushing deeply and looking down. “I’ve never seen one completed, or even close. But please, I shouldn’t have asked, I’m sorry.”

Gently, ever so much so, I touched the bottom of her chin with my finger and tilted her face up until she was looking at me. "I would be honored to show you," I said with a soft smile. "Truly."
My thumb gently stroked over her jaw before I caught myself, and I let my hand fall away, not trusting myself to hold back from doing anything stupid. "We should go somewhere not so in the open, though. An alley, mayhap, or see if we could borrow a room from an inn?" I paused, letting her decide; it would matter more to her than to me in the end I thought.

It was suddenly hard to think. Even though his hand was gone I could still feel the caress of his thumb against my skin and my body was reacting in an incredibly distracting manner.
Part of my mind was still working though and pointed out that being seen going into a room at an inn with an incredibly handsome adept would be instant fodder for gossip, and I would not disrespect him to the point of asking him to show me something so sacred in some alley.
Before I even realized it I was saying, “Come to my house and we can have something cool to drink and lunch if you would like.”

Her invitation to go to her home was shocking, so much so that I was sure a little too much time passed before I answered. "I would be honored," I responded with a smile, trying not to show how wide it really was inside. Inwardly I knew I would have a difficult time controlling myself, but I also knew that I would, if only because she was already spoken for... however much that galled me.
I smiled at her softly, enjoying the blush that still stained her pretty skin. "Which way, my Lady?"

For a moment I thought he was going to refuse and I wondered if I’d offended him. When he accepted, with seeming willingness, I smiled wide with happiness and relief.
“That way,” I said, still smiling as I pointed down a street across the way.

My smile grew a little more and I glanced both ways down the street, taking the given opportunity of no carriages coming. Looking back, I was about to call out to Shylah when I realized she was at Leynas side, and I looked back at the pretty Princess with a grin. "That's some dog you have," I commented.

“Thank you,” I said with a smile as I led him towards the townhome.
