White fluffy clouds rolled across the sky, flirting with the sun's rays as we took off out of the City. The East Borough was not that far from the City walls, and we quickly found ourselves at the gates, heading out into the open country. I let Kamila lead, as I hung back to ride with Zahav and Astrede. We were taking it at a walk for now, but as soon as the estate was in site, I was going to let whoever wanted to, go at whatever pace they wanted to, for I was fair sure that Zahav had the discipline to canter or gallop a horse.
"It feels good to get out of the City, doesn't it?" I exclaimed. I could feel the wind in my hair, and it felt wonderful, a smile plastered on my face.

Once outside to city walls I settled a littel more. It was easier to be comfortable in more of a wide open space. Navagating the streets of the city was more work, here I could just let Lufti move along and take in the country for myself. I was taking in the countryside when I heard Lorna. "Indeed it does, I can't believe it's been five years since I've travelled outside the city." I I closed my eyes and took in a clean deep breath. "This is truely glorious!" I grinned and looked at my companions.

My eyebrows raised in half mock and half real shock. "Five years?!" I turned a bit more thoughtful. "What does it take, to go through to become an acolyte of Naamah?" My curiousity was piqued. I had much to learn about certain things of Terre d'Ange, such things that travelling with a mercenary did not allow, and I craved to know about all of it.

I giggled a little at her earnest shock. "Oh it's not all just the training Lady. Until recently I was not old enough to travel alone. I am only 16 and it would not have been proper. Even now it is a bit young to travel alone, I have faith that Naamah will guide me." I paused wondering if I should elaborate, then figured what the heck we had the time. "I came to the city when I was 11 to start my training. Most of the training as an acolyte is similar to that of the night court. We take it one step farther though. We also look at Night Court and learn how the 13 differant canons interperate Naamah. In Naamah's Priesthood we also look at her as one of Eula's companions, The First Sister. We look at the philosophy behind her decision to follow Eula and break away for the one god. As to what drove her and the honor it held. Not only did she stand for desir and passion, but also equality and freedom. It is a double edged blade to be a priestess of Naamah. Yes we are trained as courtesans, but we are also guides and counselors." It was nice to talk about it. As an acolyte we have little chance to interact thusly, but as a priestess it would be my primary duty. Already my training had truely begun.

I didn't really understand much of what they were saying, so I kept quiet, riding stoically on my mount.

I turned to Zahav. I didn't wanthimto feel left out and so I addressed him personally. "What is your story Zahav," I wrinkled my nose up a bit in thought. "Am I saying that right? Is it ZAA-hofv?" Then I waited while looking forward toward the horizon. I had settled a good rhythm with my mount and was feeling more confident.

I nodded, listening to Astrede, taking in a lot of information all at once. I had a lot to learn, of the Night Court, of Naamah's service, and of the City itself. Hopefully, having Astrede along would increase my understanding of such things. I turned to look at Zahav, as Astrede attempted to strike up a conversation. He had not told me much, save that he was good with horses. I was eager to learn his story, to try and understand more of his foreign culture; all knowledge was worth having.

I swallowed a laugh at her pronounciation. My name was easier to say than her's. "Is Za-haavv," I said. "I come from Saba."

"Za-haavv... very nice, thank you" I liked the way it kind of buzzed as you said it. It seemed like a powerful name. "Saba..." I said as I reacalled some of my history, it had always been my favorite subject. I remembered the way I had recieted poetry with my sister and repeated an excerpt from an ode to Phedre no Delaunay that mentioned her and her companions ventures in Saba. Then broke off. "I'm afraid that's all I really know of Saba Zahav." I looked over to see if he had followed my recitation.

I listened to Astrede's recitation. Everybody had heard it, it was so well known, but it was always good to hear someone speak of it every so often. I glanced at the few landmarks along the road, and noticed an old, bent over tree that I had noticed on my into the City... Elua, was that already six weeks ago? This was a rough halfway point. Soon, the estate would be in sight.

I was puzzeled by the comment at first. Of coarse I knew, we were practically raised on the stories, it was after all a great part of our nations history lies in her and her companions deeds. How would he know all of it though. So I resolved to be as helpful as I could in his understanding "Of course!" I said with sincere emphasis. "It's to her that we D'Angeline's can still count ourselves free and self governed. She is a heroine like no other in our nation." I looked to Lorna for support; trusting she knew as much and would vouch for my statement.

"But she...she write down things, books?" I cursed my D'Angeline. "Did she wrote a book?"

I nodded to Astrede's statement. Phedre was practically legend in our nation, for all that she had done to keep us free from other's misdeeds. I thought for a moment, on whether she had written any books. There were odes to her, movements of poetry about her, stories about her, but books?
I didn't know, so I shook my head. "I'm not sure if she herself wrote a book. Things have been written about her, poetry dedicated to her... Astrede would know better than I if she's written a book."

I was puzzled.. It seemed a logical thing, but I had no knowledge. "Actually I really can't think of anything. Perhaps she felt enough had already been said." I paused to rethink if anythign came to mind. "There is the Ysandre Cycle by Thelesis de Monay. It accounts the first tumultuos years of Queen Ysandra de la Courcel's reign."

I nodded. "That would definitely be some of the more definitive stories about Phedre and her travels that exist."
I scanned the horizon, looking for the familiar glint of my estate house. We didn't have a very tall wall around it, just a stone... fence, I suppose, around the house, and around the outer edges of the estate. All of a sudden, I saw what I thought could be the estate. I glanced over to Kamila, who had a big smile on her face, and I knew we were close to home. As if asking if she could let loose into a run, I gave a quick shake of my head, no for now.
I turned to Astrede and Zahav, with a smile. "I do believe that we're almost to our final destination." I pointed off to the growing speck of a house on the horizon. "Once we get a bit closer, if anyone wants to pick up the pace a bit, this road leads directly to the estate. They are expecting us, so..." I trailed off a bit, directing my next words to Astrede. "You don't have to pick up the pace though, if you don't feel ready to."

"Oh I'll find my way fine." I nodde off to the direction her estate lay in. "Go ahead when your ready, just leave lighton if it takes me awhile." I smiled and let out a little laugh. It was a nice day and I would have plenty of oppertunities to run myhoursethough ot the year. Once I was a bit more seasoned.

I smiled at her. "If you insist then! It shouldn't take you too long to get there, even if you do go at your current pace." I saw Kamila nearly jumping out of her saddle to get my attention; I gave her a quick nod, and "Make sure you go through the paces." and she was off. At a trot, she quickly stepped up to a canter, and I knew it wouldn't be long before she was off galloping home.
I glanced at my companions, and with an Aragonian flair of "Adios", I started off at a trot. After a bit of that, I brought it up to a canter, and let the horse do most of the work. It was a nice rocking motion, a cruising speed that I would let sit for a while. I was in no rush, I was enjoying myself.

I kept at my present speed and watched as they vanished toward the estate. It had begun to cool off and I was glad to reach the estate shortly. As Lorna said I would. The time alone had been nice. I never did mind being alone. Which was good for it was sure to happen more often then not over the coming months.
