Name: Corbeau nó Heliotrope
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Race: D’Angeline
Appearance: Corbeau possesses an ethereal beauty. Everything about her, from her delicate frame, to her porcelain complexion and soft, milk-blonde hair depicts a gentle soul and soft heart. Only her onyx eyes, large and luminous, framed by soft pale brows and lashes, hint the strength of her desire, for love above all else, within her fragile form.
History: The daughter of a rich Namaarese lord, by way of his mistress, Corbeau’s birth was an unwelcome happenstance to all concerned parties. Her mother was an ambitious woman of vaguely good breeding who believed her daughter would hinder her climb through the ranks, and paused in her abandonment of the infant only long enough to ascertain that motherhood gave her no clout with the father or his wife.
The tiny girl was sold to Cereus without even a name of her own. A young Adept called her Corbeau, for her pitch dark eyes and it quickly became the only name she was known by. Growing up she didn’t know much about her past, but it was enough to know that she’d not been left to the Night Court out of compassion or duty. Knowing that she was willingly abandoned to a life wholly without her family made Corbeau into a shy, somewhat anxious, child, she was forever eager to please.
When she grew, it was into the very picture of Cereus canon in her fair beauty as well as her docile, biddable nature, but even as a young child her yearning for love drew her inexorably towards Heliotrope. And despite being displeased at loosing such a model young fosterling, the Dowayne could not deny the child her fervent pleas to follow Naamah’s ways through devotion, nor the price offered up by Heliotrope.
There too, she flourished as an exemplary young Adept, loving the patrons she took after her debut with a heart laid bare. At eighteen, the patron who had paid her virgin price more than two years prior came very near to buying her marque outright, so enamored of her was he. But he backed out of the contract at the last instant when his political position forced him to take a foreign wife, who balked at the thought of whores. Her would-be lover bid Corbeau goodbye and never returned to Heliotrope.
Losing that love made her feel six years old again, hearing for the first time how she came to be in the Night Court, and it strengthened those old fears and insecurities she’d strove to leave behind since her debut. She completed her marque shortly after her 21 natal, but has decided to stay on the House. She loves her home, after all. And besides which, she has nowhere else to go.
