When we had reached the palace I was going to go to my room and cry, but I was angry for some reason, so I told the driver to take me to Alexei's town home. I didn't care if he was even home, I needed to finish what we had started in the resturant and I would wait there till I talked to him.
I exited the cab, the door swinging and slamming open as I walked toward the town house. When I reached it I balled my fist and began to pound on the door.
"Yes may I..." The maid servant that opened the door recognized me and dipped into a curtsy. "Your Majesty." She said softly. I pushed past her and into the house.
"I want to speak with Alexei, is he here?" I asked in a firm voice, my face was still streaked with tears I knew but I was past caring.
"I..I don't know, I'll go check." She said stuttering slightly then hurried off. I went to the sitting room and slumped hard into a chair, waiting for Alexei to show himself or for her to return and say he wasn't home.

I burst through the front door, calling for my men and for my sister and brothers. A maid rushed up to me, looking terrified, a look that only increased when she really took me in.
“Your grace,” she said, curtseying. “The Queen, she’s here, waiting for you.” she pointed to a room to the side.
“I don’t care,” I said. “Tell her to…no, I’ll tell her.”
I pushed my way into the sitting room. “Get out of my house,” I hissed at Sabrina.

I had been sitting there for god knows how long, the maid had said that Alexei wasn't home but I would stay no matter what. But it wasn't long before I knew he was home and I stood as he came toward me. He was angry, as and I didn't care, my fists balled and moved toward him until I was right in front of him. Angrily my fist began to fall against his chest.
"I forbid you to leave." I yelled punching at his chest with my tiny fists, my eyes focused on my fists as then fell against him. Absently it registered that that there was blood on him but I kept punching. "Do you hear me, I forbid you to leave! I forbid it!" My yells turned to sobs as tears flowed down my cheeks. "I forbid you to leave me, I forbid you to go!"

I raised my arm to slap her, hard, but once again the curse of sanity overruled impulse and I grabbed her wrists instead and shoved her back, not hard as I wanted to but enough to stop her from hitting me.
“You have no right to forbid me anything,” I told her. “You are not my Queen and by Ruskovian law you are not even my wife. I am leaving.”

When he shoved me I stumbled back and fell to the ground, sobbing even harder. "You can't leave me." I yelled, tears streaming down my face. "I won't let you!" I curled my legs beneath me a little, resting on one hand. The words he spoke cut me hard and I sobbed harder. "Please, please." I stared up at him, begging him.

“You are the one who said this is never going to work, so don’t act like you want me to stay. I will go and you can marry a pretty little pureblood and everyone will be happy. He will sit in your room while you rule the nation and at night he will happily let you bring whoever you want into your bed,” I told her, my voice cold and hard, though I wasn’t yelling. “And you can love him for being what you want and you may even believe he loves you. But he will never love you as much I did.”

"You love me still, and I do want you to stay." I said harshly looking up at him, my sobbing quieting a little but tears still falling. "But you're right." I looked down at the ground, shame in my voice. "I never treated you as an equal."

“And you never would have, you can’t. You don’t believe I am equal because of where I’m from, how I believe. I am going home, to those who do not judge me for every glance I make or breath I take. Goodbye Sabrina,” I said, turning and leaving the room.

I stood and ran after him, jumping to his back as best I could. "I told you I wasn't going to let you leave and I won't!" I screamed, holding on tight to him. "I won't let you leave me! I won't!!" I wrapped my arms and legs around him as tight as I could. "You'll have to take me with you." I said harshly.

I froze, even muscle in my body tense against the urge to react violently.
“Get off me or you are going to make me hurt you,” I told her coldly.

I held on tight. "Then hurt me Alexei." I hissed. "You're the one that said you never would, you're the one that vowed to me that you would love me." I said holding on as tight as I could. "Hate me, go ahead. But I'm not going to make the same mistake twice and I'm not going to let you go." My voice was calm now, holding tight to him. "I love you Alexei. You can run back to Ruskovia, you can run as far away as you can, but I will never stop loving you." I whispered tenderly in his ear.

“You don’t want me, not as your husband. You can say whatever you want right now, but come the light of day things will be just like they have been every time before.” I reached up and pried her arms off me, my fingers pressing hard into her flesh. “I vowed never to hurt you when I believed you loved me as I loved you and that we were going to be together, to have a family, to grow old together. That’s not how it is going to be so I do not hold to that vow.”

I let the pain of his grip wash over me and let it settle into me. "I made a mistake Alexei." My voice quivered as I fought back the pain. "I understand why you've been angry with me, I understand now why you've reacted the way you have." I wasn't going to loose him now, not after everything we'd been through. "And don't claim you don't still love me, I know you do, I know you do. You can say anything you want to hurt me but when the light of day comes I will still be your wife and I will be the mother of your children." My legs held tight, my ankles locked. "I'm not going to let this end Alexei. I love you. I made a mistake because you told me something I didn't want to hear, I lashed out because I thought it would be easier then to fight it though. And if it means the difference between being with a man that I never fight with and you, I will take you, a million times over." My arms fought against his trying to hold to him. "So hurt me my love, I don't care, I'll do what ever it takes to keep you."

“There is no keeping me Sabrina. I am going home.”
I jerked up hard and fast with my arms. She could hold onto me as tight as she wanted, her strength was no match for mine. I felt her legs come free and dropped her to the floor, spinning around to face her. The struggle had ripped open the soft clot on my chest and I was bleeding freely again.
“I came very close to cutting out my heart over you, but before I go that far I will see if cold air of home can numb my pain. Go back to your palace Sabrina, you cannot keep me here.”

"Don't do this Alexei." I said standing and come to grasp at him. "Don't, because you'll realize exactly what I did, that you're making a mistake." I pulled at his shirt and pressed at the open wound. I reached for his face and pulled him to me forcing him to kiss me.

I jerked away, from her kiss and her touch.
“No, I am finally not making a mistake,” I replied. I pulled the chain and ring from my pocket, holding them out to her. “Give this to the man you really want to be married to.”

Tears fell then, I had ruined everything, I had destroyed everything, and he really was leaving me. "Keep it." I said harshly and spat at the floor. "May you always pine for me Alexei Romanov, may your heart burn only for me and may you never bare a child. I may be stubborn enough to have made a mistake but at least I can try to make up for it. You're loosing the woman that loves you, that you love, because you're too proud to forgive my stupidity." I punched him in the chest where the blood was. "And may you always bare a scar from where your heart used to beat." I turned and walked away running from the house.

I dropped the ring on the floor, the metallic sound of it echoing through the hall as I turned and headed upstairs, again calling for my men and my family.

I heard yelling downstairs and flinch before I remembered that it wasn't Father going off at someone. This sounded like... Alexei?
I got up from my reading chair in the library and headed to investigate. A maid almost ran into me in her haste to fetch us for an impromptu family gathering. Ahueyet? I went to the foyer, noticing something lying on the floor as I walked to the stairs. It could only be Alexei's engagement ring. Oh govno, this was so not good.
I pocketed the jewelry until I could decide what to do with it, and headed upstairs. "Brother?" I said with worry in my voice as I spotted him.

I’d made it upstairs, but not much farther. I was slumped against the wall, sitting on the floor when I heard Fydor’s voice.
I looked up at him. “It’s over,” I said, my voice raw with pain. “I’m going home, Fydor.”

Oh no. Ohnoohnoohno. My worst fears were confirmed. I slid down the wall to sit beside him, though not so close that I crowded him. "That was Sabrina, wasn't it." It wasn't really a question.

The sound of a disturbance in one of the downstairs drawing rooms drew me from my embroidery and I calmly stepped in to survey the scene, my cool blue eyes going wider for a moment before I regained my composure. "Has something happened?" I asked in Ruskovian, slowly drawing closer and trying to gain the ken of the situation.

I nodded in response to Fydor’s question, wiping at the tears that had begun to form in my eyes.
Olga appeared next and I looked up at her. I started to tell her what I’d told Fydor, but all that came out was a sob and my head dropped again.

My hand went to his shoulder, my grip trying to lend him strength.
"He had a fight with Sabrina," I told Olga, looking up at her from my position on the floor. "And now he's talking like he's going home."

"Ah," I replied, settling gracefully to my knees and lightly running my fingers over Alexei's head. "Are we going home, Aloysha? We've only just arrived, and I hear that such arguments can happen just before a wedding simply from the nerves."

“You don’t have to go home, but I can’t stay here. I can’t stay in the City and not be with her,” I said, my voice raw with anguish. “This isn’t the first time we’ve fought, we fight every time we’re together. She told me it wouldn’t work between us, but then when I try to leave she throws herself on me and tells me she won’t let me go. I don’t understand her.”

"Women are like that, brother," I told him consolingly. "Especially the ones here, I have found. But even if she is out of her mind, if your leaving affected her as you said I think she may truly wish you to stay. If you do so is your own choice."

I didn't know what to say. I had no experience with serious relationships - in the name of the gods, I had gone to Alexei for advice on the matter! And now he was talking about going home. He said that we didn't have to follow, but I wasn't stupid. Olga would follow, she hated it here, and I'd have to fight tooth and nail to stay without them.
So it was rather hard to be biased right now, even if I did have advice to give. I settled for a listening silence, and prayed our sister would talk sense into him.

I was riding home from a few hours spent shopping in the downtown district when a carriage went past, bearing the newly-recognized sigil of House Courcel upon its door. Grinning a little to myself as I thought of my brothers impending marriage, I booted my dun stallion a little faster, clipping through the gates at a trot.
The first few steps into the house told me something was amiss; a maid gave me a worried look, hesitated, then scurried over to whisper what she'd heard and seen, peeking around corners. My brows drew tight as I brushed past her and headed up the stairs, following the voices til I broached the room they were in. Alexeis last words caught my ear, and I shut the door tightly behind me.
"Men rarely understand women," I said somewhat dryly; not for Alexeis sake, but because they simply befuddled me more often than not. "I've been told a little of what happened..." I paused, looking at him, partially curious, mostly concerned. "You're not truly thinking of leaving here, are you brother?"

“I can’t stay,” I said, resting my arms on my knees and my head hanging forward. “I can’t be here and not be with her. She says now she wants me to stay, but she’ll just change her mind and things will go back to like they were. This isn’t the first time.”
My voice caught as I started to cry again. “Oh gods…I love her so much…I don’t know if I can live without her.”
