As I gazed around my room, I thought of home. Now that I had hired help for Faire prep, and was hosting an acolyte of Naamah, I would have to go home within the week. I began to pack some of my less needed items; a book about Aragonia, that green dress that I had wore the other day, and my pen and papers.
I wandered out of my room, and down to the courtyard, to the stables, to Eira. I stopped at her stall, and pulled an apple from my breakfast, feeding it to her, nuzzling her gently. "Soon, Eira, soon we will go home." She winnied, and gave me that look that made me smile. "I know you'd rather be out, galloping across the country. Soon, I promise you." It was definitely becoming time to go home.

I was sitting in my room, not doing much of anything, except waiting. Waiting for my horses to come, waiting for anything, everything, waiting for the word that my estate was prepared for us. I was getting impatient, when suddenly, I heard hooves on the street outside, and the familiar winny of Wafi. Racing to the window, I confirmed the arrival with pure joy.
I ran out the door, protocol totally forgotten on me, and fiercely hugged Kamila herself, for she had seen no one better to personally deliver the horses to me.
"A fine breezing indeed, Lorna!" she exclaimed as she hugged me close. She had taken Hamza along for her mount, and I quickly beckoned to a passing stable boy to prepare three extra stalls in the stable, slipping him a silver ducat for his speed and quality of work.
"Come, up to my room, and let us have a chat." I beckoned her up the stair case, to the second floor. As we entered the room, and she took a seat, I pulled out a bottle of white wine I had recently purchased, and two glasses, filled them, and sat down with her. "Pray tell, how goes the estate?" I was dying for news.
"It goes well, lamb. There is a current of electricity that runs through the air as everyone is preparing for the Faire." There was a twinkle in her eye I had rarely seen before. "Aysu and Nairi are doing well; Nairi's ride training is progressing satisfactorily, as she has almost mastered the canter. " She took a sip of her wine, and continued. "But enough about me; tell me of these people we are bringing back to the estate with us?"
I paused for a moment, wondering who to start with. "Well, I was wandering through the Square the other day, thinking about how I could really use an extra hand with the Faire coming up and all, and I happened upon a curious man. His name is Zahav ben Tzipor, and he is..." I struggled to fish for his ethnicity. "... Sabaen, I believe. Anywho, he said he had worked with horses before, and even if he hasn't, he is very strong, and we can definitely find a use for him somewhere."
Kamila nodded. " Interesting, for sure. What about the girl? Acolyte of Naamah?"
I gave her a small smile. "Her name is Astrede Murain, and she is about to embark on her year long sojourn across Terre d'Ange, before she becomes a priestess. She sent me a missive asking if, before she travels to Siovale, if she could have a refresher in riding, since she's going to be doing a lot of it this next year." I took a sip of my wine. "I told her that it would be beneficial to the both of us, for while she gets a riding refresher, we can get some of the horses, namely Wafi and Lufti, exercised before the Faire." Here, I paused. "Would it be possible to donate a horse to her ride for Naamah? Or is that impossible in our budget?"
Kamila wrinkled her face in thought. "I'm unsure, lamb. I will have to check the ledgers when we get back to the estate."
"Fair enough." I giggled and looked at the time. It was time for the horses to be fed. "Shall we go make sure the horses are getting fed? And we shall depart on the morrow, perhaps?"
Kamila shot me a friendly smile. "Sounds like a plan to me!" Linking arms with me, we traipsed back out to the stables, to check on the horses.
For tomorrow, I'd be heading home.
