I stepped out of the carriage and offered my hand to Miri with a smile. it was so nice to have things back to normal and being able to go out for lunch.

I reached and took his hand with a smile, stepping out of the carriage and into the light. I was feeling incredibly better, able to eat everything I wanted without the fear of it coming back up. My rash was gone as well; I just got winded easily, but that was slowly getting better too. Getting out would be good for me, my elderly maid said. Especially, she added with a pointed, wry look, if it was with the Prince August.
"Thank you," I murmured to him as I settled on the ground next to him. "It's so nice out today, isn't it?" I asked with a smile as I let him guide me to the Inn.

“It’s lovely,” I said, looking up at the clear sky and smiling. Then I looked back at her. “And you look beautiful.”

"Why thank you handsome," I said, flashing him a grin as we made our way up to the building. "I can't remember if I've ever been here before or not. I imagine at some point, but..." I paused, shrugging. "If so, a long time ago."

“I’ve been here a few times, but not lately,” I said as I guided her inside.
I looked around at the mildly occupied room. “Where would you like to sit?”

"How does over there sound?" I asked, gesturing to our right at an empty table near a window. I reached and took his hand, twining my fingers lightly with his.

“Sounds perfect,” I said, walking us over to it. I only let go of her hand so I could hold her chair for her.

"Thank you," I said, smiling at him as I sat down, then waited for him to take his own seat before I spoke again. "You know, I don't think I remember the last time we went out together," I said, my brows furrowing slightly as I thought.

“That dinner at the Duchesse’s that you dragged me to doesn’t count, eh?” I teased, remembering that night and the time in the park afterward.

I laughed, remembering that night with a vivid passion. "I meant eating in a public place," I teased, flashing him a grin. "I should note the Duchesse, come to think of it," I said, teasing him blatantly. "See about setting up another dinner party, and drag Prince Augustin along with me to it."
My grin was wide as I looked at him, eyes sparkling with unrestrained mirth. The Duchesse had made it a rather well known fact that she found August dashing and quite attractive.

“You should,” I agreed with a smile. “it would be nice to attend as a couple.”

I'd been teasing, but he took me seriously, and I nodded as I looked at him. "Of course," I said, not really minding going again. "Mayhap this time we could host it at my townhome; is there anyone you'd like to invite?"

I made a face. “I’m terrible at deciding those sorts of things. Guests lists can be all yours, my love,” I said, chuckling.
A waitress hurried over, bowing deeply. “What would you like to drink?” I asked Miri.

I was smiling and shaking my head at him when the server came over, and I looked up at her with a kind smile. "Just some tea for me, please," I said, glancing back at August as I waited for him to order.

“A glass of white wine for me,” I told the waitress, who then rushed off to fill our requests.

I watched as she moved off, then turned my attention back to August. "Did you have anything planned for later in the day?"

“Not a thing,” I said with a grin. “I’m yours until you’re tired of me.”

"Looks like you'll be stuck with me for quite a while then," I said, grinning all the more for knowing there weren't any appointments scheduled to pull us away. It'd seemed like a long time since that had happened, though I knew and understood Augusts position was demanding. In a strange way it made me love him all the more for knowing he was able to handle it, strong enough inside and out to deal with the pressures of being sovereign as well as all the personal things in his life.
My cheeks colored a little as I thought of how I loved him and I dropped my gaze into my lap, fingering the thin lace trim that coursed down my light summer dress.

I reached across the small table and let my fingertips graze her cheek. “What are you thinking that just made you blush?” I asked curiously.

It made me blush more, him asking me what caused it in the first place. I looked up at him from under my lashes, giving a little smile that bordered a grin and shifted my shoulders slightly. "Just at how much I respect you, how much I love you," I said, my voice fond, not at all self conscious.

It was my turn to blush softly. “Thank you,” I said. “And I love you too, so very much.”

I was smiling at him when the server returned with the drinks, setting them carefully infront of us before asking if we knew what we would like to eat. I looked at August, curious if he had any idea yet or if he needed to see a menu.

“I’ll need a menu,” I said, chuckling. “I’m having trouble just coming up with anything.” I looked at Miri to see if she wanted a menu as well.

"The same for me," I said. I had a fair idea of what I wanted, but it never hurt to double check and make sure they offered it here. "How are things in Azzalle?" I asked after the server rushed off to get the menus. "I hear from my estate and some news from surrounding ones, but nothing like you I'd imagine," I said, my eyes twinkling in slight amusement.

“Very good. There was just enough rain this spring to hold the crops through the summer. The harvest this fall should be outstanding,” I said, smiling. I loved that she wanted to know such things.

"Fantastic," I said, my smile growing to know my home province was doing well. "And the harbors? I heard there was a bad storm earlier this month, but with the plague..." I gave him a soft smile, fighting to keep it from becoming sad. "I have forgotten to ask until now."

“Most of them managed to escape with minor or no damage. There was one northern harbor that took a good bit of damage. We’ve deploy people to help though and I’m subsidizing the income of the families effected while the ships are having to make for other harbors,” I told her.

The server returned and laid the menus down; I barely noticed as I focused on him, rolling the information he gave around in my head. "Do you know how long the timeframe is before the harbor is repaired and reopened? I can only imagine how hard it would be for the families around there, even with the subsidizing." I looked at him, a fond smile forming on my mouth. "It was very kind of you to think of them, though. I know most wouldn't even think of them."

“It never occurred to me not to help them,” I said, a little surprised at the thought. “I am responsible for them. Anyone who wouldn’t doesn’t desire the power to make that decision.”
I chuckled suddenly and shook my head.
“Sorry, that sounded really arrogant. As for the harbor, it should be operating partially in a month and fully a couple months after that.”

"It didn't sound arrogant at all," I said, reaching across the table and taking his hand in mine. "It sounded like the thoughts of a wise leader, one I'd be happy to follow, much less marry."
I smiled fondly at him as I squeezed his fingers slightly, color coming to stain my cheeks.
