I had taken my carriage to the Palace, so we took my carriage into Nights Doorstep. With news of the Palace's North Wing opening, there were groups of people peer and commoner alike, carousing with happiness.
Bets where shouted about when the Night Court would open again, when the first fete would be and other such wagers. My carriage slowed in front of the Medecant's Cloak and I exited the carriage offering my hand to help out Lorna.

It had been a fair while since I had ridden in a carriage, but we took Jean's down into Night's Doorstep. I had briefly been here before, but it appeared like the carriage was taking us to another establishment to which I had never been to. As we pulled up to our destination, Jean got out first, and extended a hand to me. I gladly took it, and with a quick murmur of "Thank you", I glanced up at the sign above the door. The Medecant's Cloak. I turned to Jean and gave him a smile, a twinkle in my eye. "I've never been here before."

I smiled softly. "I think you'll like it," I said smiling. "I've never been myself but I've heard its a lively place." Having left my lap harp with my driver, and instructed him to take it back to my town house, I guided Lorna into the Tavern.
"Find a seat," Said the Tsingani bar matron. "Menu's on the board." She added I looked around and saw the large chalk board with white writting suggesting the day's meals.
"How about over there?" I said gesturing to an empy booth in the corner, secluded and low lit.

I caught myself looking at the chalk board, looking over the menu. I hadn't realized how hungry I was till now. Vegetable soup, rabbit stew... the rabbit stew looked pretty good. Jean's voice snapped me out of it, when he asked me whether a booth in the corner would suit. It was out of the way, and looked like a good choice. "It looks fine to me." I gave him a small smile. He was excellent company.

I smiled and walked her toward the table and helped her sit before sitting next to her. I sat next to her on purpose of course, then looked across the table at the others in the establishment. Figures it would be one of the only business open, there were getting good business for sure. "Did you see something you liked?" I asked Lorna with a grin.

I gave him a slight grin. "I was thinking that the rabbit stew sounded pretty good. How about you?" I was figuring on what I should drink. Perhaps a white wine, something lighter to go with my meal.

I smiled. "Good decision, I think I'll join you." The bar matron came over asking about our drinks.
"Bottle of white wine?" I asked looking to Lorna. "Or Red if you wish."

In truth, I was feeling in a bit of a lighter mood, and therefore, replyed in like. "I do believe a white will suit perfectly." I smiled, and took a look at the patrons already here. It seemed to have a lively array of people of all kinds, and I rather liked its atmosphere. If the food was up to par, I would have to keep it in mind for later trips to the City. "Do you venture out to eat in the City often?" I asked curiously.

I ordered the white and she turned away with a smile.
"No, not usually, I haven't been in the City long either." I said smiling to Lorna.

I felt good, knowing that I wasn't alone in my newfound explorations of the City. "How long have you been in the City, and what brought you here? If you don't mind my asking." I blushed; I was full of questions, it seemed.

I smiled. "I came must before Beltane," I said still smiling. "And what brought me here was a carriage and a lot of unhappy men." I chuckled with the jest. I didn't want to tell her that this was in my never ending to find my family.

I had to laugh, just a bit. He had been in the City longer than me, perhaps a month or so.
"I had to tend to the horses during the Beltane activities. We just had a small dinner at the estate, to celebrate. I've heard the fetes are marvelous here though. Grand affairs, striking colors..." I trailed off. "I just hope I don't make a total fool of myself at my first one, overwhelmed by the festivities."

I was gladened by her laugh and I chuckled too. "I'm sure you'll do just marvolously." I said softly. "You hold yourself well, and gracefully."

I blushed, and gave him a warm smile. "I'm glad I have a vote of confidence. Its much appreciated."
The bar matron returned with two glasses of wine, as well as the rest of our bottle, and asked us what we'd be having tonight. "A bowl of the rabbit stew, please." I shot her a smile, and glancing at Jean, raised an eyebrow, as if inquiring if he had come to a final decision about what he would be having for his meal.

I turned seeing the matron approach and smiled. I poured the wine and pushed a glass in front of Lorna before pouring my own and looking at the middle aged woman. "I'll have the same." I said as she nodded and turned away. I turned back to Lorna with a smile.

I took a sip of my wine. Light and refreshing it most definitely was, and I sighed contently. "An excellent choice in venue, so far." I gave him a teasing smile. "I only hope the stew is just as good. I'm famished!" I grinned. "Do you have a favorite food?"

I nodded, picking up my own glass and siped it. "Uh, I don't think so." I said thinking after a moment. "No, I don't think I do really. I like all food, though since I've grown up in Azzalle I do like sea food." I chuckled.

I thought for a moment. "I don't think I've ever had seafood. My mother used to make a wonderful type of maize cake, that we would have for breakfast most mornings. I do like most food, but that one always stands out to me, as a favorite." I took another refreshing sip of my wine.

I smiled. "Are you looking forward to the midsummer faire? A chance to recharge and unwind, right?" I took another sip of my wine. "I'm hoping it will be a profitable faire for the estate. And hopefully a bit of a laidback, relaxing summer, after all the City has been though."

"I think I will probably attend. My sister will likely want to go so I may join her." I smiled. "I'm sure things can only get better for the City." I offered.

I smiled and nodded. "You'll see me." I said softly.
"The Queens wedding should be a joyeous event." I added as I saw the matron come toward us with two bowls of stew.

I blushed. "I have never been to another's wedding. It will be my first, and I am gladdened that it will be Her Highness's that I will witness first."
The matron placed our bowls of stew on the table, and I gave her a quick word of thanks. It was steaming hot, and smelled wonderful. I blew on it lightly to cool it down before I took a small taste. It was good, savory, and still rather hot. I sipped my wine.

I smiled wondering why she blushed but I chuckled a little. I picked up my spoon and began to stir the stew to help it cool. "I'm sure if will be a singular event."

I grinned, and took another small sip of my soup. "The stew is very good. I think you'll like it." I don't think I had realized how hungry I was until now.

I took a larger sip of my stew, and sighed. I contemplated Jean's earlier comment of possibly being of Shemhazai descent. I knew there was a temple to Shemhazai in the City's Temple District, and I thought that maybe later, I would go visit it; it seemed intriguing, and like a good experience. I smiled. "Have you ever been to any of the temples in the City?" I asked thoughtfully.

"No, I haven't." I said taking another bit of the stew. "Well I went to the Temple of Elua when I was young, about fifteen, the first time I came to the City. But I haven't have the chance since." I took another bite. "What about you?"

I shook my head, swallowing some more stew. "I have never been to a Temple in the City. Although, I've been thinking recently that I may visit one soon." I smiled. "I can imagine it would be very peaceful."
