Dressed all in black, as was my want, I found the part of town most likely to offer what it was I was seeking. I hoped that this being my first night in the City my presence wouldn’t stick in anyone’s mind or catch any eyes I didn’t want caught. It took only a few words here and there to get directions to a likely tavern and that was where I headed.
Inside it was hardly as derelict or dirty as some of the places I’d been, but not somewhere I really hoped to have to return to often. I took a seat at a table and looked around casually, not letting my gaze linger on anyone too long, but noting everyone in the place.
A server wandered by and I ordered a pint.

Disliking toiling for coin in such a miserable tavern, I braved the chastising words of the owner finding annoyance that I had been delayed in arriving for my duties. Despite all of the compliant, I gathered a smile then offered my sincerest apologies. He grumbled lowly then dismissed me from sight with a tool of my temporary trade… a worn serving tray.
Way off from the table I rounded, that seated many a drunkard, I flashed a good hearted smile at my less attractive companion as she served a patron all clad in black. Lucky her for serving a patron so pleasantly attractive, I wished that the patrons I now served looked half as good as he.
I patiently took the orders from my groping patrons, smacking one hand then other when their curiosity became far too friendly for my liking. “Now behave the lot of you.” I sternly shook a finger at them, knowing it would do little for the situation, it surprised me none when they gruffly chuckled then began anew.
I forced a more than pleasant smile then broke free of their explorations so that I may obtain their drinks in a fair amount of peace.

My initial perusal of the tavern had revealed no likely suspects for what I was looking for. It was still a little early perhaps for trade in such things as what I sought, so I decided to bide my time for awhile before seeking out somewhere else.
I handed coin to the barmaid when she returned with my pint and gave her a polite smile. Something she returned with undisguised interest. Dios help me. even if I had been looking for a bedmate, she was not my type. Pale and thin, she seemed imminently breakable, which I knew appealed to some but I was not one of them.
Pointedly I turned my attention to my mug and I heard her exhale noisily as she walked off. The ale wasn’t bad, though I longed for a glass of rich Aragonian red wine.
My attention was caught by a bit of a dust up and I saw another barmaid barely escaping the groping of a table of sots. Some things were the same no matter country it seemed.

Whilst I awaited the mugs to crowd my serving tray, I spared a glance over one shoulder to note that my companion failed to end up in the lap of her mystery patron. Shemhazai, forgive me. I chuckled softly for the irritated expression sorely held on her face. Ah…the best of wishes next patron!
Smiling, I picked up my brimming tray, holding it somewhat aloft as I carried it over to the table I’d prefer to avoid for the remainder of my duty this stint. Each drunkard was skillfully attended to with pleasantries that they hadn’t earned. I emptied the tray easily enough, groping hands aside, countless times I have done this and have become apt at it. It was a sad truth.
Once coin was paid, I left the company of those patrons to float about the tavern, seeking others to serve.

I chuckled to myself as I watched the other girl serve the table. It was obviously not her first night on the job, for she managed to slip away without making a scene of it. It was more than the men deserved, but I was sure they'd never know it.
I was far too intimate with the naivety that overcame one when under the influence of something potent.
I let my eyes follow the girl around as I continued to sip my ale.

Occupied with rendering drinks to more brazen drunkards, my plump breasts heaved with the quickened efforts to complete the round of drinks so that I may have a moment of freedom from suggestive expressions and lust filled comments.
I shook my head, letting it all roll off my slender shoulders to wear a smile upon my lips in taking leave of their company.
Gently I tucked away my tray under one arm to wander over towards the darkly clad figure spying on me.

I took another long drink from my mug and then met the gaze of the barmaid coming closer. I tilted my head and then looked at my mug to silently ask for another.

I understood his silent request, acknowledging such by dipping my chin gracefully to the enigmatic fellow before turning to retrieve another drink for him. Along the perilous journey to the bar, I merged paths with my cohort, who asked a favor from me, a favor that lent a gentle smile to my lips.
Leaning somewhat against the bar, more so to rest a slightly sore back granted too me by means of a pleasant sort, I listened to all she had to say in regards to the patron we both found interesting, for different reasons.
As I conversed with her both of us glanced to him, one of us clearly fawning over him, the other held in intrigue…I was the latter. Each of us bore him a smile that was spoiled as the barkeep barked his orders for us to be gone, now that the drinks were ready to be served.
With the mug in hand, and a gentle sway in my hip, I returned to his table, lowering his drink before him in such a way that would allow his eyes to linger upon my bosom, if he fancied such a notion.

I chuckled to myself as I glanced at the two women at the bar. Call me self-centered, but I had a feeling they were speaking of me.
The second barmaid came back to me, leaning over and setting my drink down. I let my eyes caress across her offered cleavage and then up to her face.
“Thank you,” I said, nodding to the mug and smiling. I offered her a coin, holding it in a way where her fingers would have to touch my hand as she took it.

I held my silence whilst he peeked at my cleavage, cracking a smile that held even as our eyes met. His hazel eyes were devastatingly beautiful, the features of his face even more so. It was no wonder that my smile remained.
“You are welcome.” Kindly I spoke, curling my fingers around his in a fashion that was inquisitive as to his hold upon the coin. The tips of my fingers caressed his gently and slowly before settling into place around his strong fingers.

Slowly I released the coin, letting my fingers caress her hand as I withdrew my own.
“Is the food here worth eating?” I asked, holding her gaze.

His action was rewarded with a charming smile when at last I took the coin and tucked it away into my cleavage, for safe keeping. I held his gaze to reply.
“It depends upon your appetite.” I motioned to the chair situated closest to him. “Would you mind if I joined you for a time?”
Out of the corner of my vision I took notice of familiar clothing passing none to far away from us, it was the other bar matron.

“You won’t get in trouble?” I asked, indicating the other patrons around us in the busy tavern.

“Trouble usually finds me even when I mind to avoid it.” I supplied rather politely before casting a glance at my cohort. She sought my presence with a quick wave so I nodded to her then smiled back at him. “I’ll be back to check on you after a while.”
Wandering back through the crowded tavern, forcing a smile for the undesired attention I was gifted by other patrons as I received their orders, I met once again with the bar matron while we each waited for mugs to be filled.
We chatted amongst ourselves, glancing back at our mysterious visitor often whilst we giggled.

I let my eyes follow her as she worked, rather enjoying the view and the distraction. I sipped my ale and wondered what her name was.
I let my gaze flicker around at the others in the tavern every so often though, not wanting to miss my chance to meet who I’d come looking for.

With the easy grace of one long familiar with a place I greeted the tender before strolling the bar, picking up my customary bottle of gin before walking to my usual table and taking in the room. There were a few new faces, one who seemed a bit more high-class and foreign than we were used to- but I'd wait to pass judgment. With the recent misfortune my own status had changed a bit and my clothing was new; plague meant more wealth for those brave and smart enough to grab it.

My gaze flicked to a new man who entered and I had the feeling I’d found who I was looking for. One came to get an instinct for such things after enough times.
Not staring, but looking, I sought to make eye-contact with him.

The foreign stranger- Aragonian, perhaps, though you could never be sure- looked to catch my attention and I met his gaze with a confident curiosity, cocking my head and raising a brow in a questioning fashion. Perhaps for all of his fine clothes he had dealings to work and that always interested me, especially when I didn't know who they were. With a second glance I indicated the chair across from the one I leaned back in.

My eyes flicked to the barmaid, I hadn’t gotten her name, for an instant before rising slowly and made my way to the empty chair across from the man.
“Well met,” I said as I took a seat.

Looking up for a moment I took a sip of my drink, then nodded and set it down. "Good evening," I added with a hint of my hereditary country drawl. "Can I help you, sir?"

It was none too long before we were sent on our ways, dispersed among so many drunkards and fiends in providing them drinks to make their already surly nature that much more unbearable.
As I gracefully slipped between tables and chairs, I met the darkly clad patron eyes then averted my gaze to mind a hand or two coaxing for a drink, mayhap more. I deposited the mugs as necessary, hating the passage of time in its slow turning, as I wanted nothing more than to end the evening soon.
At least my seemingly kindly patron was no longer alone, I spied him at another able having a conversation with man. When I was able to break free, unless my companion arrived there first, I intended to make my way over towards them.

"I suppose that would depend on what you desired," I replied slowly and in a lazily considering tone, though my eyes were astute. After all, some of the things I dealt in were illegal for a number of reasons and I had no desire to be collared by the guards when things were going so well. "Can I buy you a drink while we speak? I'm not sure what we have that's of Aragonian stock though."

“I’ve been enjoying the ale, so if there is something else of local stock you’d recommend I would be willing to try it,” I replied. I didn’t miss the fact that he’d pointed out he knew where I was from, but I didn’t react either. It wasn’t a hard guess to make, but it laid another tile in the flooring that he’d mentioned it.

A moment presented itself to leave me free too wander towards their table. Light on my feet, I kept a certain focus on seeing to the needs of enigmatic pair with determination in parting from one lusting drunkard to the next until I arrived at their table.
“Is there somewhat I could get for each of you too drink?” I smiled pleasantly, charmingly, passing a curious eye over them as I waited for a reply.

"More of whatever he's having, and a gin for me," I told the young girl with a smile, unwilling to talk further about the business at hand with an unknown person close. I'd spent enough time in the City jails, I had no desire to enter them again.

I smiled and nodded my head slightly in agreement to the barmaid. Once she had withdrawn my conversation with the stranger could continue.

"Very well." With an appreciating glance to each of the men, lingering mayhap longer on the dark haired one before complying with the request made, I departed their company.
As before I braved the sea of difficult patrons, becoming unlucky as one curled his arms around my waist to keep me occupied a spell, no doubt awarding more time to a particular pair to discuss matters not meant for my ears.

Watching the girl walk away for a moment I then turned back to the Aragonian with a knowing smile. "Perhaps we should be plain, since that young thing seems to have a taste for you," I suggested.

“She’s probably just interested in a new face,” I said. My gaze flicked to the barmaid again as I reached into my pocket and withdrew the far too light tin. I opened the tin and withdrew a single berry, holding it in my palm and showing it to him subtly. “Would you know where to get more of this?”
