One of the things I wanted to take care of today was figuring out my costume for the Midwinter Masque. I had an appointment with a clothier who was supposed to be here any moment. I cleared off some space on my desk so he would have room to spread out his drawings. I had just finished when I heard the door. I told Anne to let him in.
"Terrence, so good to see you, welcome," I said as he entered, carrying a case that I assumed held his tools.
"Princess Leyna, it is an honor," he said, bowing deeply.
"Please, have a seat," I said, indicating the chair across from me. "Would you care for anything to drink?"
"No thank you," he said as he sat and opened his case. "I never drink and draw." With a smile he settled back, pad in front of him and asked, "What shall we garb you in for this Masque?"
"Well," I said, smiling. "I want something a little risqué, but nothing shocking. Something that will make a certain man unable to take his eyes from me, and yet fun as well."
"Hmmm," he said, then looked down at his pad and began to draw. I was quiet while he worked, excited to see what he would come up with.
"How is this?" he asked finally, handing the pad to me.
On it was an outfit that made my eyes light up. I was going as a pirate wench. It was perfect. From the black boots, the flouncy red skirt that hiked up on one side all the way to my waist, the white blouse that left my shoulders bare and had long loose sleeve, to the tight black corset. Even the black domino mask with gold around the eyes .
"Oh Terrence, it's perfect!," I told, beaming as I handed him back the pad.
"Wonderful! Now for the measurements and we are on our way," he said, rising and pulling out a measuring string.
All I could think about was the look on Nic's face as I stood for measurements.
