The letter to Vincent completed, I pulled the letter out that Mirsada had sent to me, fingering the bracers that had accompanied it. A clean parchment followed and I dabbed my pen in its inkwell before scrolling, trying to pay attention enough to make my penmanship ledgeable. It was a far cry from her neat hand.
Dear Mirsada-
I was very happy to hear from you, enough so that I cannot accurately describe what it meant to me. The bracers are wonderful, and I thank you very kindly for them.
Things have not gone well here, but I fear it cannot get any worse. I will speak of it to you when we see each other ag ain; for now I only want to think of your beautiful face. I long to hold you again.
I'll write to you once I am back in the City - with luck, I will beat you there.
All my best, Kendrick Comte Deveroix
With it I placed a slender gold necklace, a small, tear-shaped pendant hanging from it inset with an emerald. I'd bought it before I left the City with her in mind and had carried it with me since; I hoped she'd like it.
Wrapping it up, I sent it off shortly after Vincents package left, then resolutely turned to begin sifting through the consolation letters and packages others had sent here. The pile was growing, and they had to be gone through and responded to accordingly before I left, among other things.
