My carriage pulled to a stop in front of Jess’s house exactly on times. Bellezza was tied behind the carriage. I hoped to get a chance to ride her a bit on the trip out. I’d made sure to bring a horse for Jess as well if she wanted to join me.
Dressed in comfortable traveling clothes, I stepped out of the carriage and up to her door, knocking.

Dressed in my comfortable and familiar skirt, shirt and hat that I'd worn for much of my trip to Eire I nearly bounced to the door, then opened it and smiled. "Good morning," I greeted Alain eagerly, kissing his cheek. "Here, I found your earring." So saying I held out my hand, careful not to drop it again.

“Good morning and thank you,” I said, taking the earring. “I hope you didn’t have to look too hard.”

"Not at all," I assured him, grinning. "Oh, I should go get my bag and my bow so we can go. Don't worry, I packed light." With a wink I gestured that he should come inside, then dashed up the stairs to my room and grabbed the aforementioned things.

Chuckling, I stepped inside and watched her as she bolted upstairs.

Once my unstrung Eiran bow was strapped to my quiver and my moderately sized bag of clothing was in my hands I ran back downstairs- and then no doubt my expression went very blank as I thought about what I was forgetting, set down those items to the side of the stairs and ran back up to grab a leatherbound blank book, numerous quills and some ink.
"There!" I said with an air of accomplishment as I draped my bow and bag over my shoulder, the quill and ink in a pouch and the book clasped in my arms. "Now I'm ready when you are."

“You sure?” I asked with a grin, holding my hand out to take her bags.

"Don't ask me that, I may think of something, like a snack for us while we ride," I teased, shifting the blank book to my other hand and sliding off my solitary bag to offer him. "There are some more strawberries left, you know."

Grinning, I took her bag. “I have food for the trip, so no need to worry,” I said. “If you’re sure this is it, then let’s be off.”

"I'm sure," I told him with a smile, then leaned up and kissed him. If I thought on it any longer something would come to mind, but every necessity had been seen to; the packing, writing to Joie to tell her where I'd be, arranging for the household to be cared for, and anything else would simply be my hidden concern. "Let's go."

“Yes, before I decide to delay while we take a trip upstairs,” I said, smiling. I held the door for her.

"Thank you," I told him, slipping out and then waiting for him. "Besides, I've heard those sorts of things that happen in upstairs rooms can happen in carriages anyway." I was teasing him and winked broadly, hoping to make him laugh.

“Hmm, I’ve never taken a bath in a carriage,” I teased, closing the door and walking with her to the carriage. I handed her bag up to be stored with the others.

"Oh, is that what you meant?" I asked innocently, voice thick with laughter. "I should have known."

“What else could I have meant?” I asked just as innocently, holding the carriage door for her.

"I was hoping something more mischievous and dastardly," I told him as I slipped off my bow and stepped in, setting in propped on the floor beside me with the book next to it on the seat and scooting so he could sit down as well. "But one must pay the price for wrong assumptions, I suppose." Playfully I blew him a kiss, then patted the seat.

Laughing, I joined her in the carriage. “Ah yes, there’s always a price to pay,” I said, grinning as I settled next to her.

The door closed and we began to move, and I could only grin as I leaned against him slightly. "Are you excited to be going back? Did you manage to get everything done?"

“Yes, and yes,” I said, wrapping my arm around her waist as the carriage began to bear us towards my home. “And I’m very glad you’re coming with me.”

"I am too," I told him with a happy sigh, watching the City pass by the windows.
