Name: Sylvestre de Valmont, Duc de Siovale
Age: 30
Race: D’Angeline
Gender: Male
Appearance:
As pale and languid as a lily, Sylvestre seems to epitomise grace and worldly sophistication. His lazy, cat green eyes regard the world with amused indifference and if they occasionally glitter with astute self-interest a sweep of opulent lashes soon conceals it. He is as attractive as one might expect of any of D’Angeline birth, especially when what nature has provided is tempered with artifice. He cultivates a deceptive air of lazy charm and harmless mischief.
History
The son of a minor noble of no consequence whatsoever, Sylvestre de Valmont possesses all the arts of a gentleman and none by which he could earn a decent living. Not that he would want to. He inherited a neat little parcel of land and a small country property, which he instantly abandoned to his Steward and then proceeded to run into the ground through the astronomical debts required to support the dissolute lifestyle he pursued in the capital. An inveterate gambler, womaniser, and pleasure seeker, he has always lived a life of shocking self-indulgence and wilful depravity.
Within a few years, his fortune was all but exhausted, his estate ruined and his reputation in tatters. It was either debtor’s prison or the helping hand of his self-righteous second cousin, Clovis, Duc de Siovale. Hearing that the accommodation in prison was simply insupportable for a man of refined tastes, Sylvestre and Clovis came to an arrangement. The latter would bail him out of his financial difficulties and, in return, Sylvestre would retire to the country for the rest of his days, where he would live an unexceptionable life and cease ravaging the Siovale name with his shocking misadventures.
For the last ten years, Sylvestre has been in exile and resenting every second of it. Rustication has done nothing to curb his habits or his appetites. He remains, as ever he was: affected, exquisite, charming and, when he can be bothered, utterly vicious.
NPCs
Name: Betta
Age: 35
Appearance: A strong and vigorous peasant woman, who now that the flush of youth has faded from her face possesses nothing to distinguish her whatsoever.
History: In more innocent times, Betta was a kitchen maid in the Valmont household. The details of when, and how, her relationship with Slyvestre began is a secret known only to the two of them, but she has followed him devotedly ever since.
