Post by Pharinet de Marchet (D) on Oct 18, 2005 22:15:56 GMT -5
Name: Pharinet d’Cyprien de Marchet
Age: 44
Race: D’Angeline
Baroness de Marchet
Appearance: Pharinet is surrounded by sorrow. It hovers over her features like a veil, enhancing her beauty rather than marring it. She is a slender woman with an hourglass figure, standing at 5’5. Her amber brown eyes and dark mahogany hair compliment her lightly tanned skin.
History: Her father was a minor Kusheline lordling and her mother the only child of a wealthy merchant. Pharinet was the middle daughter of nine siblings and suffered a benign neglect growing up. Hand-me downs and careless affection instilled a longing in her for a family of her own, and she did all in her power to get it.
At 17 she met the Chevalier Bastian de Marchet, a young ships captain from Siovale. They fell madly in love, as all young couples do, and within a year were married and greeting their first son, Tibault. After several more years, Sandriel was born. But his birth was a hard one on Pharinet and left her barren. But it was no matter; the happy couple loved their little sons fiercely. At his father’s death a few years later, Bastian inherited the title of Baron de Marchet and a small estate in Siovale on the Aragonian border. The family relocated from Kusheth to the family seat.
And that is when misfortune and tragedy struck them. A band of Tsingani begged refuge at the keep as one of their children was gravely ill. Pharinet took pity on them and let them stay. The illness spread like wildfire through the keep’s inhabitants, claiming many, including the dowager baroness and Tibault. Her son’s death devastated Pharinet, and she felt responsible, as it was she who allowed the sickness into their keep. Tibault’s death was the first breach in Pharinet and Bastian’s otherwise happy marriage.
Pharinet became increasingly protective of her youngest son Sandriel. Bastian spent more and more time in his library and on his ship. In a desperate move to keep her last son safe, she forbids Sandriel from riding his pony and leaving the keep without a guardian. That night Sandriel stole his father’s prime blood bay stallion with a childish plan to ride to the coast seeking his father’s ship at harbor.
They found the bloated body of the stallion in a gorge of the Verre River. The boy’s cloak was tangled in the reigns stained with blood. The body was never recovered.
Her sons dead, repudiated by her husband, Pharinet would spend the next 17 years searching for absolution, for atonement, for anything to banish the blood-guilt.
