Name: Rosalyne nó Dahlia
Age: 20
Sex: Female
Race: D’Angeline
Appearance: Rosalyne is a statuesque beauty. She is tall, at 5’11”, with a graceful build and long, shapely legs, and a lush, womanly figure. The long waves and curls of her hair are vibrant red and silky to the touch, falling halfway down the long, graceful curve of her spine. Her gaze is direct and penetrating, due perhaps in part to her distinctly mismatched irises.
History: Rosalyne was the third child of the union of two Adepts of Camellia, and so she faced some complications that may never have existed if she’d been born to a different legacy. But the fact was that Rosalyne had two older sisters who, despite their youth, had already been tacitly accepted by the House. An honour that was immediately clear would not befall the youngest girl, from the first time the infant opened her eyes, for the right was sky blue, though the left was heather green.
There was nothing actually wrong with her eyes, they were a lovely shape, and each iris was beautiful. But as a pair they were imperfect, and the flaw could not be overlooked. Not by the strident canons of Camellia and, sadly, not by her father.
Camellia was his ancestral home and he would not accept that his lineage had contributed to such a flaw. So despite evidence to the contrary, for Rosalyne’s red hair was his, he convinced himself that her mother had been careless enough to get with child from a patron, and refused to acknowledge paternity.
Rosalyne’s mother was more accepting, though, and raised her youngest daughter the same way she raised the eldest two. She never blamed Rosalyne for the schism between herself and her husband, that never did mend, and she did everything she could to balance the blow of being rebuffed by Camellia.
As a result Rosalyne grew with pride, and refused to be subjugated or treated as less than her age mates. Rather than crumbling under the repeated waves of rejection, rather than accepting that she was flawed, she stood stalwart against it. She took what love was offered with a strong heart, and strove not to dwell on those who offered scorn.
All of which eased her mother’s mind. For where once she’d had doubts of Rosalyne’s future in the Night Court, she now saw a very clear path cut to Dahlia. And indeed the instinct paid off, and at ten Rosalyne was fostered there to great success. Only four years after her debut, already her marque is more than two thirds its final length.
