Name: Firielle nó Mandrake
Age: 17
Race: D’Angeline
Gender: female
Appearance: Firielle has long raven black hair, that falls past her face in loose waves, often partially concealing it. Her eyes are blue grey and her skin is pale, although not deathly so. The lines of he face are classically beautiful, and it is hard for a patron not to find her looks pleasing. She is slim, with small breasts, and fairly tall. This makes he seem a little delicate to some, at least until they have experienced her.
Firielle is given to wearing dark make-up, especially on her lips, and smoky lines of kohl which accentuate her eyes. She prefers to wear darker colours, rich reds or stark blacks and she is skilled at painting patterns on her body, a skill taught to her by her maternal grandmother.
History: Firielle was born to the night court, to the house of Eglantine. Her mother, Celeste, was skilled and made her marque young, however she enjoyed the arts, both of music and passion very much, and stayed on to teach and take assignations occasionally. Firielle’s father was one such assignation. He had long been a patron of Celeste’s and cared deeply for her. However, he was married, and his wife refused to let him acknowledge his child.
Celeste took more assignations after Firielle was born to help pay for her upbringing but she was brutally attacked one night by a servant of one of her patrons. He left her scarred, and so, at the still young age of twenty-four, with a three-year-old daughter to support, Celeste was forced to retire. Eglantine agreed that Celeste should stay on and teach singing, her best skill. However Firielle was sent to live with her grandmother Tirine, as Celeste wanted her daughter to live free of the hardships of life in the night court.
Firielle’s grandmother was kind to her. However she was a wayward child and little or no help to her grandmother’s business, which was making dresses and costumes for masques. Firielle was seven when she first displayed signs of being suited to Mandrake. She had stolen some dress pins from her grandmother and approached a boy, who was awaiting a fitting. He was the son of a minor noble and behaved disdainfully towards Firielle. She stabbed him viciously with the pins she had taken, causing him to bleed. As it was an isolated incident, Firielle was given another chance.
It was not long before she broke it. She had enjoyed hearing the screams of shock and pain. She had her first taste of power, and it was pleasurable in the extreme. A few months later, she took a six year old girl out to the back of the shop to ‘play at dressing up’. The girl fought with Firielle, who slapped her sharply across the face, then pinned her down and proceeded to torment her by scratching her with a sharp piece of jewellery. The child’s mother was a rich and prominent so Tirine agreed to send Firielle away.
Celeste knew that there was no place for such a child at Eglantine, so she contacted the Dowayne of Mandrake house. He agreed that Firielle might be suited to life at Mandrake and so she was fostered there. From this point on her upbringing was fairly common place, although she did not like others to have power over her and often avoided her lessons if she did not enjoy them. However she has an instinct for inflicting pain upon people, and enjoys playing power games with them, which many of her patrons enjoy. Her marque is just above a quarter done.
