Name: Azriel Shahrizai
Age: 30
Height: 6'0
Gender: Male
Race: D'Angeline (Kusheline/Namarrese)
Home Province: Kusheth and L'Agnace
Appearance: Though Azriel has the surname of his kin, he doesn't bare as striking resemblance to them as say perhaps his father, a full blooded Shahrizai. His eyes are most likely the only tell tail sign of his linage, a brilliant sapphire blue thickly riming the edges of his eyes, the very interior betraying the cool blue flame of the hottest fire. His hair is a burnt brown, and almost blond in the sun yet still manages to catch a hint of blue once in a while. He's tall at 6'0 and muscular, but mostly by accident.
History: Born to a Shahrizai father and a Namarrese mother, Azriel is a quiet unassuming man, and even though he shares blood kinship to the Shahrizai, he seems far from anything like his cousins.
Azriel's mother Rosette married young to a Chevalier from Namarre, a political marriage orchestrated by her own parents. Soon after they married Rosette gave birth to Nicole, Azriel's half sister.
When Nicole was fifteen though, her father -Rosette's husband- was sent to war where he was killed in the line of duty. The pair left on their own, Rosette sold her husband's title and went in search for a new husband.
Three months after this Rosette met and married Fransçois Shahrizai of Kusheth, some one with ample funds to take care of her and her child. Nine months later Azriel was born.
Life, as it does, went by for the family, Azriel and Nicole were an unlikely duo as they got older, but strangely enough Nicole was taken with her little half brother, and Azriel looked up to his kind and loving sister. Two years after Azriel was born Nicole got lucky and married an L'Agnacite Duc. The happy family lived, peacefully, Nicole and her husband the Duc André Prévost, in the City of Elua, Azriel and his parents in Kusheth. When Azriel turned fifteen Nicole became pregnant with her first child Lillianne, and when the news reached Azriel's family they journeyed to the City of Elua to visit. But life has a way of disrupting happy occasions. On the return ride home, the carriage was caught in a storm and the horses took a fall sending all members careening down a bank and into a river. Every one perished except Azriel, being the only one that was able make it to the river bank. For some months after Azriel lay on his death bed, catching an ague, but eventually grew strong enough and recovered completely.
Azriel had always been a happy boy, cheerful with a smile, but it was after the accident that he believed that Elua had spoken to him, that he had seen Elua himself that night in the water. Beckoning him to follow in his footsteps. After this, Azriel became quiet, more studious and was a consummate listener. Spirituality and philosophy became prevalent in his life and when he turned sixteen, Azriel levied some of his funds and took a pilgrimage through the great nation of Terre d'Ange.
For four years Azriel traveled, firstly to Siovale, then Kusheth, Namarre, Azzalle, Camlach, L'Agnace and eventually to Eisande finally coming to live in Marsilikos just before his twentieth natal. It was there in the port City, that he came to find his home, taking refuge in the city by the sea, working when he wanted, reading or writting when the occasion struck him, all in pursuit of his burning questions. One of which was why he had surrived and his parents hadn't. A noticeable strangeness in Azriel is though he may have the surname of his father's kin, he struggles with his Shahrizai blood and has not been eager to learn about the desires of his Kushieline family. In general Azriel has had little interest in bedding women mostly because of his views on love and marriage, and because of this, is a stranger himself to the bedchamber. In fact its been ten years since he's been with a woman, mostly because of a woman who he bares a harsh secret about. He only shares this secret though with those he deems worthy.
At the age of thirty, Azriel received a letter from his sister. A plague had come upon the City of Elua and had killed Nicole's husband and left her on her death bed. Asking Azriel to journey to the City, he comes to find his sister has passed and in her will she has left him her only child, a daughter to be taken care of by him. So, leaving his happy home in Marsilikos, Azriel is moving to the City of Elua to live with Lillianne his sixteen year old niece and ward. Azriel has no title for himself but does not want one. He's good with money, in fact the holdings and money that his parent's left him has given him more then enough to live happily and with considerable wealth. Part of that which he inherited was a small estate on the boarder of Kusheth and L'Agnace, one that does well for itself in cattle, wool, and lumber. Wood working was actually one of the ways that Azriel makes a living, carving simple statues and the like.
Now, though, he is to take care of Lillianne till she reaches her majority when she inherits her family's title.
