"You've made sure that the bull has been put out with the cows." I asked checking off a few items on my list. Surrounding me were three people. To my left my head breeder and rancher. My right my assistant ready to take notes if need be, and behind my my financial planner. A man that had more then once tried to bed me, but his lack of maners and disgusting enlarged belly made me sick to my stomach.
I glanced to my head rancher. I had to ensure the females were breed before their season ended. Most of the mothers had birthed in the last few weeks, we were still waiting for the last ones to come in late spring.
"Yes of course Comtesse, the cows are ready to be bred and the new stud is working out well.
"Good." I said as we walked through the field. "And the store is ready?" Our family was getting ready to open our new store selling both saddlery for men and womens taste, but also clothing as well. It was a new venture for us and one that I had been waiting some time to perfect. Almost ten years in the making to increase our stock, tan enough hides, design the clothing, and create the pieces. It was a labour of love and I was almost complete.
"Yes Comtesse, they're just waiting for you to arrive and open the shoppe offically." I nodded continuing to go over my list as we walked.
"And my things?" I asked my assistant Teressé.
"Packed, everything you wanted including your portfolio, drawings and swatches." She said smiling.
"Good, and the carriage."
"Waiting for your readiness Comtesse."
"Don't forget Giselle my dear," My the tub of lard said behind me. "That loan you took out must be paid in six months lest the lender take interest." I sighed at his words wanting to turn around and knee him in the groin more then anything.
"Yes thank you Messire Danoux, I will remember." I rolled my eyes to myself as we neared the front entrance, the door open to show my grand father waiting by our carriage.
"Now, if you'll excuse me." I said stopping and turning to the three of them.
"I will send word." They all nodded and bowed or curtsied and I turned back toward my grandfather.
"Giselle." He said softly, a cane in his hand. "I'm counting on you."
"Yes granperé." I said pulling on a pair of our line's designer gloves.
"I mean for our family itself, we need an heir and I expect it to happen before I die." He wagged his crooked finger at me.
"Yes," I said firmly. "It will." He raised his brow cautiously to me then allowed my leave to enter the carriage. The door shut behind me and I stuck my head out the window.
"I will send word." I said softly out the window, touching his head.
"Alright." He nodded gesturing for the drive to move forward. I smiled as the carriage lurched forward and we were on our way to the City of Elua.
