Name: Émile d’Ames
Race: D’Angeline
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Appearance:
Émile has dark, wavy locks and black pools for eyes, a sensuous mouth that seems to be almost permanently twisted into a smirk. He is well built and muscular, a product of his extensive training. He usually keeps his hair bound into the club that is popular in the Cassiline order.
Personality:
Émile comes off as being somewhat out of place in the Cassiline Brotherhood. Unlike most of his brethren, he is generally cheerful and will often take time to converse with people while he’s watching his charges. However, he is known to be terrifying in battle, pouring all his energy into annihilating his opponent, and he takes his duties as a bodyguard very seriously, following the Queen like a shadow.
Despite the fact that he generally has a sunny outlook on life, Émile struggles the most with his vows of celibacy and the violent urges that run in his blood. He often takes leave of his duties to visit Kushiel’s temple, hoping to be cleansed of his urges, if only for a short time.
History:
Émile has the blood of both Camael and Kushiel in his veins. His mother was a former adept of Mandrake House, from Kusheth, and his father was a chevalier in Camlach. They met in the City of Elua and began a torrid relationship that culminated in Émile’s older brother’s birth. After he was born, the family moved to Kusheth, and his mother soon gave birth to Émile and a third son.
It is thought that, had fate not made him the middle child, that he would have been destined for Mandrake House. However, tradition among the d’Angeline peerage dictated that he be sent for fostering with the Cassiline Brotherhood, so that is where he ended up. Once there, he took to his training with unusual zeal, and his superiors quickly realized that he had the potential to become a great warrior, if only he could master his urges.
A turning point in Émile’s stay with the Brotherhood happened when the Queen’s old Cassiline bodyguard died of natural causes. In truth, he did not believe it when the Prefect bid him attend the Queen in the City of Elua. The news shocked him, but part of him was not surprised—he was a capable fighter, after all, a young man in his prime. Who better to look after the safety of Terre d’Ange’s monarch?
