"I hope you'll show me your horses someday," I said. "I want to see the things you love, too."
My face lit up. "When will you teach me to ride?" I asked, remembering he had mentioned he would.

"Soon," I said. "Though it may have to wait for a little while until the weather warms up a bit. But yes, I will teach you. And until then, there are plenty of horses out in the stable for you to get to know if you like."
My thoughts strayed to Allisande for a moment and I wondered how she was.

"I will go see them, tomorrow, I think," I commented. "Now that the library is done, I need to find something new to do."

"I'm sure you will find something," I said, pushing away my now empty soup bowl. "How was your day besides filled with the accomplishment of finishing the library?"

Elua! "I had my planned lunch with Dominic, but it didn't go too well," I said casually. "I don't think we'll be seeing much of each other from now on."

Not a bit of the sense of being right that I felt made it to my expression or the tone in my voice.
"Is it anything you would like to talk about?" I asked her in the same casual way she had answered me.

"Nothing, save for that you were right," I admitted. "The man is mercurial, immature, and manipulative. He switches from kind to cruel in the blink of an eye." I gave a short, barking laugh. "His sister can have him."
I chuckled then. "You can say 'I told you so' now."

I shook my head slightly. "I won't. It was up to you to make your own decision, this time it happened to be the same as my opinion, next time it might not be," I told her.
One of the kitchen girls came in and cleared our bowls, and then we were each served a plate with the main course.

Telling Alain about Dominic had lifted a huge weight off my chest and I gave him a bright, happy smile before beginning my meal.
"When do you think we should take up Princess Phreya on her invitation?" I asked with stars in my eyes. "Imagine, what an honor, tea with the princess."

Looking down at my plate to hide my grin, I said, "why don't you write her a note saying we would like to join her whenever she is free and I will arrange my schedule around whenever you two settle on. "
It was rather adorable that Avive was so awed by royalty still, especially since I was far too old and jaded to feel the same.

"All right," I said thoughtfully. "I shall write her a note tomorrow."

I smiled at her as I chewed and swallowed my bite of dinner.
"Do you have something to wear to tea with a Princess?" I asked casually, but knowing I was probably stirring up a tizzy.

I clapped my hands over my mouth. "But, I just got so many new dresses at Eglantine! Is there a special one I need for tea with royalty or somewhat?" I frantically went through my wardrobe in my head, wondering what could be appropriate.

As much as I wanted to continue teasing her, I couldn't contain the laughter that bubbled out of me.
"I am positive any one of the dresses you just got would be perfect," I told her reassuringly, though still chuckling.

I tried to glare at him, even though I was smiling. "And you, cousin, have you a lovely dress to wear to tea with the princess?" I asked in an exaggerated tone of sincerity, even though my mirth was evident.

"I thought I would just borrow one of yours, they all looked so lovely," I told her, grinning.

"How perfect!" I exclaimed. "I think I have one that would fit you wonderfully." In truth, I was much more petite than he, but imagining Alain in a dress with ribbons in his hair and carmine on his lips was so funny that I burst out laughing.
"We musn't forget matching slippers," I said, as I fought to speak.

"What a pretty pair we'll make," I exclaimed. "Hello, I am the Lady de Mauvais and this is my cousin the Duc. Pay no mind to his attire, it is the height of fashion in Mauvais duchy."

"Why would you need to explain my attire?" I asked, trying to sound wounded. "Should I not wear a new dress to tea with a princess?"

"But of course you should," I said, "my lady Duchesse. I only fear that the princess would not be so openminded as we."

"Oh, no," I said. "Then I'll have to have tea with Princess Phreya all alone and can you imagine how embarassing to come alone after she specifically invited both of us?"

I sighed deeply. "Well, then perhaps I should wear my own clothes," I suggested, grinning.

Chuckling, I took a drink of wine as well. "It's settled then, I shall wear my own clothes to tea with the princess."
