I smiled wide, pleased that I had brought such a reaction from her.
We'd reached a corner and I looked about. "Which way now?"

"Just this way." I replied, turning the corner. I still had a little, rather pleased, smile on my face. The shop was not far from the corner, and we entered the hushed interior. Now instead of bottles, candles littered the surfaces.

"Ooo, how lovely," I said, looking around.
I rather liked candles, the scents, the colors, the soft glow, the drip of hot wax on the trembling stomach of a lover…

A rather plump woman emerged from the back, rather surprised to see us. I guess it wasn't every day that a Shahrizai entered with a Cereus. I slid my arm from Gabriel's, since he obviously wished to wander, and went over to speak to her quietly of the House's order.

I watched Nyx walk away, so enjoying the view, then turned to look around again.
Deciding on a display of dark blue candles, I walked over and began inspecting them.

Our conversation was quick and quiet, and she went bustling to the back to retrieve what she assured me was a small crate. Something a tiny darling like me could carry. Right. I wasn’t sure why she was put out, but she was rather condescending. I decided to let it go, and returned to my companion on soft feet.
“Find something you like?” I asked, joining him at his side to contemplate the navy candles and well aware of possible double meanings in his response.

Looking at Nyx, I smiled.
"I have actually," I said, indicating a small box of twisted taper candles that had a sparkle to them. "I rather like those, and they seem to have a rather light scent which is nice. What do you think?"

Inwardly, I laughed at myself. I had been fishing, and I didn't need to, not with how many compliments he had already given me.
"I've always been rather fond of candles. They have a... simplicity I like. And these ones are lovely." I told him, running a single finger along one of the twisted lengths.

With a graceful shift, I moved to where I was standing behind her, her body caught between me and the counter. Reaching forward, I took her hand in mine, letting my finger lay atop hers as it caressed along the taper.
"I've always been fond of candles as well," I said, my voice much more intimate than before. "But I have always liked their complexity. So many possibilities in simple wax and wick."

I had not forgotten the dangerous air he had to him, and a thrill went through me as I suddenly found myself trapped by his warm body. I continued to let my, our fingers trail over the sparkling tapers. "Possibilities?" I asked quietly, a sensuous tinge coming unbidden to my voice.

"A candle left burning to welcome someone home, a sign of caring. A candle lit in the middle of the night to drive away shadows. Hundreds of candles adorning a room in celebration," I told her. "So many different meaning to the same light."
I leaned against her a little more, letting her feel the press of my body.
"And then there's the wax. Used to seal letters of state, or perhaps even passionate declarations of love." My fingers moved, caressing up her arm. "or even dripped on the skin of flushed and moaning lover."

My body melted against him the more he spoke, his words sliding into me. I had to bite my lip at his final words. "So many uses for such a small object." I replied after a small pause.

"Indeed," I agreed in a sensuous whisper, my lips almost brushing her ear. "So many possibilities."
My hands slid to her waist, drawing her fully against me, molding my body to hers, letting her feel my stirring phallus.

The thump of the crate hitting the counter made me jump. My eyes had flickered closed, his voice like a siren call. I had forgotten about the shopkeeper and the order. Blissfully forgotten.
I pulled away, my eyes meeting his for the briefest of moments, letting him see the stirrings of desire there. I made my way over to the counter under the baleful gaze of the woman. Now I understood why she had been so condescending earlier. She was jealous. I took the small crate with a smile, not knowing what else to do. I murmured my thanks, the box light under my arm, and returned to the dangerous Shahrizai lord.

"All done?" I asked, smiling at Nyx. "Here, let me carry that." I held out my hand for the small crate she was carrying.

He wasn't ruffled in the slightest. I knew I didn't show it, but inside of me desire was blooming with the knowledge of how quickly he had gotten that response from me.
"Thank you." I smiled up at him as I handed over box, and grew bold. "I have a little bit of time before they expect me back at Cereus."

Tucking the crate under one arm, I offered her the other.
"Well, then we shall have to find some way to fill that time," I replied, smiling charmingly. "Any ideas?"

"There are many shops around, were you looking for anything else?" I asked as I slid my fingers over his arm until they came to their resting place.

"I was going to go to L'Roches but I am not certain if you'd want to accompany me there or not," I told her as we exited back out to the street. "I can wait if you'd rather somewhere else."

The name was said with a thrill whenever mentioned at Cereus. It had always made me wonder.
"I've never been in," I replied honestly. "And so can hardly be adverse to it." I left it up to Gabriel. Surely he would know if it would be too much for a delicate Cereus.

I looked at her, thinking seriously.
"In truth, I think perhaps I'll wait. I am rather enjoying your company and don't want to be distracted," I told her, smiling. "How about a snack then? I find myself in want of a bite."

I smiled at the compliment. "That sounds wonderful." I told him, my fingers ever so subtly caressing his arm. "There was a little cafe we passed, just back around the corner."

"Perfect," I said, heading us in that direction. "So tell me, what do you have waiting for you back at Cereus when I finally set you free?"

"Dance practice." I replied promptly. "We've been learning an Aragonian gavotte." We turned the corner and headed for the cafe a few steps away.

My mind flashed back to being held in Keegan's arms, spinning around and around, before I shook it off. "I quite enjoy it as well. Dance class was one they had no trouble to get me to attend."

"Are you a trouble maker?" I asked teasingly.
I released her arm and held open the door for her.

I looked shocked. "Me? Never." My eyes sparkled with humour as we entered the little cafe and settled at a table by the window.

Smiling, I took my seat across from Nyx. A serving girl came over, handing us cards with the meal selection on them and asking what we wanted to drink.
"I'd like some wine, a good red please," I told her, then looked at Nyx.

"The same please, and a glass of water." I replied with a smile to the girl. She was about my age, and smiled back before she left to get our wine.
"But I would bet you are quite the trouble maker when you put your mind to it." I commented innocently, studying the menu.
