"I never did take you for gullible," I replied with a grin. "A terrible tease mayhap, but not easily taken in."

"Not so horrible, surely- after all, in teasing 'horrible' would mean 'ineffective'," I told her with a grin.

I laughed. "Fine, you can be an excellent tease, oh you of great logic," I teased right back with a smile.

"Logical and funny- I'm quite a catch," I said, puffing my chest out in exaggerated pride.

"And don't you forget it," I replied with another laugh, though I had never spoken truer words in my life. "Just don't go around all puffy like that, people might start giggling."

"Well, I do enjoy making people laugh," I told her, chuckling. "You have a beautiful laugh yourself."

I blushed from the compliment. It meant more from him than from some young lordling at court. "Thank you. Perhaps that's one of the reasons we get on so well. You like making people laugh, and I like laughing."

"It does seem to fit us," I replied with a grin.
Gently i pushed away my mostly empty plate and drank the last of my wine. 'Should we move on to dessert soon?" I asked.

"What are you in the mood for?" I asked with a smile, more than willing to put the remnants of our meal to the side.

"Something sweet," I told her with a wink. "Think there's anything on the menu?"

"Crema de Sant Josep?" I asked, trying to not laugh at his antics. "It's much like you crème brûlée."

"Sounds fantastic," I told her honestly. "I like creme brulee."

I smiled. "Wonderful."
The waiter was just passing, so I stopped him and ordered while he cleared the plates. I also had him bring two glasses of dessert wine, but let it be a surprise for Landis.
"So I don't think I've ever asked, but do you speak any languages besides D'Angeline?"

"While I was in Akkad I learned enough to get me by," I told her with a smile. "A little Caerdicci for academic reasons, but other than that I was always more interested in knowledges learned practically, like tracking. Do you speak any besides d'Angeline and your birth tongue?"

I nodded. "My father wanted to make sure I was ready for trading. So I speak Alban, Tsiangani, and Catalan. I would like to formerly learn Caerdicci though. So many books to read." I smiled at the thought.

"There are a good deal of them," I agreed cheerfully. "And really, Caerdicci isn't that hard to learn if you already know so many languages."

"I can puzzle some out right now, but I'd prefer just to be able to read and enjoy, not get a headache," I said with a smile.
Our dessert arrived, the server bowing respectfully as he left us to it.

Smiling, I nodded in understanding. "I wish you the best of luck on such an undertaking," I replied cheerfully, then lifted my fork and waited for her to take the first bite of the dessert.

I lifted my fork to him. "Thank you," I replied with a smile before taking a bite. "Do you have any languages you'd like to learn?"

"I want to learn a bit of everything," I confessed with a smile, then took a bite of my own and swallowed. "My Siovalese nature, I suppose. This custard you picked is delicious, by the way."

"I'm glad you like it," I said with a smile. "My mother always loved to boast about our Siovalese blood. Said it explained all of her children's intelligence."

"That could be, though I think you are far more intelligent than I, even with less of the Siovalese blood," I told her with a charming smile. "I was only lucky enough to be granted a bit of cleverness and I'm quite content with that."

"I'll just have to blame my father I guess," I replied, joking of course. I was not so immodest as to mean it.
"Here, try this," I told him, picking up the flute of dessert wine and taking a sip.

Smiling, I did as she said and sipped, then set it aside with a look of surprise. "That's very good, what is it?"

"It translates as 'nectar'," I said with a smile, so glad that he liked it.

"Nectar of what?" I asked curiously, taking another sip.

I laughed lightly. "I don't rightly know," I replied with a smile before eating another spoonful of the custard.

"Well, the name had to come from somewhere," I told her with a grin. "Perhaps I'll endeavor on a quest to search through the books I have and find the answer, so I can tell you the next time we see one another."

"I am, but it has to rain at some point," I teased. "I'll do the research then and we can debate over it while inside and dry."
