"Glad you like it. It would have ruined my appetite if I had to eat the whole plate myself," I said with a smile.

"I'd imagine it would ruin mine too if you happened not to like it and I had to do the same." Picking up another piece on my fork I dipped it again and then placed it in my mouth, chewing and finding the taste only became better with every progressive one. "Do you often eat this at home, in Aragonia?"

"Not very often, but once in a while. In moderation, if you will," I said with a smile. "Though I always have the kitchens make it up whenever I have an excuse." I took piece, loving the taste. It wasn't as good as what we had at home - the squid simply wasn't as fresh - but I hadn't had any in too long.

"Well, your kitchens may not be here, but at least now you know a place to come shoudl the craving ever strike," I replied cheerfully. "And if you'd ever like company, send word or come and see me and I'll be glad to join you."

"When wouldn't I like your company?" I asked with a smile. "Finding your house might be quite the adventure though. I have absolutely no idea where you live."

"I can always give you my address, you know," I teased after I'd swallowed yet another bit of the calamares.

"It would be an adventure even with the address. I don't have the strongest sense of direction," I replied, taking another bite with a grin.

"If you wanted to save yourself the adventure you could always give it to a driver and a carriage would bring you right to my door," I teased, returning her smile and then sipping my wine.

"But that takes all the fun out of it," I told him, chuckling. I took the second to last piece, and gestured for him to take the other.

With a smile I obeyed, taking the last piece of squid and eating it before replying. "But isn't being in my company more fun than wandering about looking for me?" I asked innocently, batting my lashes.

"Who says I can't do both?" I replied with a grin. "Getting lost is the best way to explore."

"Yes, of course- but while you're lost I'm sitting at home wondering where you are," I said in a mournful tone, barely hiding a grin. "Languishing with worry."

"You're the outdoorsman." I replied teasingly. "Use all those skills and track me down. Then you can act the savior."
Just then the soup arrived, steaming hotly from our bowls. I thanked the server with a smile as he took the empty plate.

"Outdoorsman, not so much city-folk," I replied in a playfully knowing tone. "It's not as if you'd leave footprints on the cobblestones."

"Surely someone would notice my passing," I pointed out with a smile, taking my first spoonful of soup and delicately sipping it.

"Yes, but who knows how far out of the way you'd wander, being lost," I joked aloofly. "It could take me a week, and by then you'd probably be home at the Palace and I'd simply look silly finding you there."

"Then certainly you need to hone your skills, if it would take you a full week," I teased right back.

"Well, if I said an hour it wouldn't sound very self-deprecating, would it?" I replied innocently.

"Oh, I could easily be lost for an hour," I replied with a smile. "Though for the first half, I wouldn't even have realized I was in such a state. So you'd still be half an hour late." I stuck my tongue out at him again before taking another spoonful of soup.

"I'll have to work on my intuitive knowledge of when you're lost then," I said with a sigh, then winked. "And I've never been very intuitive, so I may simply fail at such a task and disappoint us both."

"I would disagree. You've had your intuitive moments," I said with a soft smile, cheeks reddening slightly with memory.

"Really? I would ask you to enlighten me, but I remember you didn't seem that keen on staying red forever," I teased gently and with a smile, glad that she still held those memories fondly as well. "No doubt you've found other similarly intuitive people in so many years."

"Only one," I replied, eyes on my glass as I picked it up and took a sip. "The aforementioned heartbreaker. But we met at court, not the wilds of Terre d'Ange." I finally met his eyes with a tiny teasing smile. "The rules were a bit different."

"I imagine so- I've learned so myself over the years," I replied with a smile of sympathy. "And I have to admit I don't like the idea of someone breaking your heart either."

"But what of you?" I asked, not really wanting to speak any more of Walid's phantom. "Surely you have had more luck than I."

"With breaking hearts or not having mine broken?" I asked with a smile. "I think the answer to both would simply be to say I just don't expect deep attachment from people so I'm not usually disappointed."

"No women in your life since you returned?" I asked. "I find that surprising." I pushed my empty soup bowl away slightly.

"Not in any sort of permanent sense, and nothing outside friends," I replied sincerely. No men really either, I thought ruefully, though I didn't say it because I wasn't sure whether it would unsettle her or not. "I suppose I'm just the sort of person who simply lets things develop and nothing has of yet."

"Fair enough," I replied, though inwardly I prayed he found someone. He was too good of a person to spend life alone. I raised my glass. "May we both find someone then," I said with a smile.

"To luck in love," I replied, raising my own glass and sipping from it to hide a grin. "A very d'Angeline toast indeed, I'd say."
