The world seemed far too bright and cheerful for the task at hand. Task, what a way to categorize the events that would occur today.
I sighed, and settled into Belleza's saddle. Even she was subdued today, no stamping or rattling her bit. Marshall nodded to me as he mounted his horse, signaling that everything was ready.
The black draped wagons began to move, and we fell in behind them.
Task or not, the day was far too bright to have to ride behind a wagon holding items such as this one did. My eyes did not watch the road, trusting Belleza to find her way. My eyes were fixed on the coffins, especially the smallest that held the body of Gerard Clovis.
Far too bright, but that wasn't what caused the tears in my eyes.
