Cereus seemed too small to hold me after Pierre's visit, and so I headed out to enjoy the warmer weather. I found a park bench and sat for a time, basking in the sunlight and the thought of money in my pocket.

Climbing out of my bath I donned a green dress and walked down the stairs. I called to no one in particular, "I'm going out. Be back before dinner." Brian, one of the house guards fell in behind me as I started out of the townhouse."
Gazing around outside the townhouse gate I glanced up to see an imposing hill in the near distance, smiling I headed that way. Brian gave chase.
I walked into a nice looking park, the walk taking little out of me. I was still used to running around our estate in siovale, much to my mother's disdain. I started to walk along the path, everyone was in such a rush except for a pretty girl sitting on a bench.
I glanced around, before giving a smile, "Hello... nice out here isn't it?"

I looked up to find a girl about my age smiling down at me. "Beautiful," I agreed with her. "Early spring days are always so fresh."

I smiled more when the girl replied and without thinking to ask, I sat down next to her. "Spring is a nice season, too bad this is the first real green I've seen since I arrived." Thinking on a bit more, "Except for our garden that is. I'm Adrienne, my friends call me Ambre." I didn't add my house name, not even thinking it fully through. Everyone had known who I was my entire life, and it didn't occur to me that no one would know me by first name alone now.

"I'm Nyx." I replied, not put out by her presumptions. "Where are you from, if not the City?"

"Siovale, there's a lot more trees. What about you, where are you from?"

"I grew up in Namarre, before coming to the City." I said with an easy smile.

"Namarre, I think I visited a cousin there once. I don't get to travel much, I'd like to though. Why did you leave Namarre?"

"I wanted to enter Naamah's service. The best way to do that seemed to come to the City." I replied, noticing what seemed to be her guard loitering nearby. "And you?"

"Naamah's servants!" My eyes widened and I clapped my hands together excitedly. It wasn't that seeing them was new, it was that I hadn't seen one so close in age as mine and I'd never actually gotten to speak to a young one. "I'm here to attend court, and learn how to be a lady," I said it blandly and rolled my eyes slightly, before leaning back on the bench to try and get a look at her marquee, which I couldn't see anyway.
"So what's that like? I bet you get all the best lovers."

I blinked once. I wasn't used to being quite so interesting. "I have just made my debut. I can count my patrons on one hand." I replied, Keegan's face like a treasured secret flashing to mind. I then responded to her rather unsubtle attempts to view my back. "It also means I haven't had any of my marque limned yet."

I smiled somewhere between being meek at getting caught trying to see her back, and slyly at the idea of having an adept as a friend, well hopefully. There was something Justine used to tell me about counting chickens before they were hatched and not having all the chicks at the hatching.
"I'm sure you'll have it done before you know it, you're very pretty. It's a shame I didn't get to go to your debut I've never been to one before. It must be very exciting though to have people pay to want to see you and spend time with you."

"Well, thank you." I said, still slightly unsure how to take this girl. "My debut wasn't public in that way. A lady saw me in the market, and wanted to contract me. I was honoured. And even better, I went to coronation fete." I smiled slightly at that. It had been a splendid night, though mostly undone by the horror that followed. "Are you going to Princess Sabrina's?"

I blinked thinking over the shift in conversation, "Princess Sabrina's? Is she having a fete?"

I nodded, thankful to be speaking on a different topic. "Her coronation is on the first day of spring, and she's having a fete in the palace. All the adepts are invited, and I think all the nobles are too, but I'm not sure."

"Oh, really?" I pondered over my lack of knowledge, thinking that it was probably something my mother had once again forgotten to mention... that or I wasn't paying attention, but I was sure it was the former. "That sounds fun. Maybe I should go, or will probably have to anyway."
I jumped up off the bench in surprise and swung around to face Nyx "Oh that means I'll have to get a dress or something! I don't know what's in style or anything!" I briefly thought over whether anything I had would work well, but I'd been living in near seclusion for most of my life and I doubted anything would work out well for a princess's coronation, especially if this was going to be my first get together with other peers of the realm.
I glanced at Nyx and I gave her a pleading look "Oh Nyx you have to come and help me! This will be almost like a debut for me, and I don't know anything about what the queen will like, and you're so knowledgable about that sort of thing being an adept. Will you please help me?"

I blinked again. She was a lot to take. "I will happily help, but I couldn't tell you what Princess Sabrina would like. I can only give my own humble opinion."

"Well I suppose that's better than what I'd be able to do on my own." I extended my hand down towards her with every intention of helping her up.

I took her hand with a smile, rising gracefully. "Now, the clothier district, or Eglantine?"

I dropped her hand after she had risen, marveling slightly at her grace, and wondering if I could train myself to be just as graceful. In my room, with the door locked of course, where no one could laugh when I did poorly.
Pursing my lips in thought I glanced around. "Which would be better? I've never been to either place."

"Well, the clothiers at Eglantine are amazing. But if you feel like shopping, there are a lot of stores in the clothiers district." I started walking towards the edge of the park, both possible destinations in the same direction.

"Let's go shopping, I like discovering things." I followed in Nyx's wake happy to finally have a girl to talk to, especially when dealing with dresses.
