After leaving the guard at the entrance to the White Hart with instructions not to drink too much and for him to be ready to leave in two hours, I set off to wander. The streets were all abustle and I smiled, walking briskly and enjoying the cool air.

The night of the masque had proven less then interesting and I had only managed to piss off only a few nobles, and only a few of them kin. So it was that I found myself wandering the market place when a fragile young flower stepped across my path. Picking a holly from a vendor's cart and tossing a ducat in his direction I followed her smiling until I was right beside me.
"Excuse me fair lady, I believe you dropped this." I said offering the recently purchased holly sprig, its red berries proffered infront of her.

I hadn't noticed the handsome young nobleman until I practically walked into the sprig of holly under my nose. Surprised, I took the fragrant plant and looked up at him. "Thank you, my lord," I said, laughing. "I shall have to remember to lose my plants more often." He was tall, with sapphire eyes and blue-black hair. I knew who his family was from my studies; nobody needed to tell me his lineage. I wondered which Shahrizai he was, but wasn't sure how to politely ask.

I smiled clasping my hands behind my back and bowing slightly.
"It was more then my pleasure fair lady." I replied and reached forward taking her hand and placing a kiss on her wrist before releasing it gently.
"And to whom do I have the honor of finding her lost plant for?" I asked with a raised brow.

I blushed a deep red as he kissed my wrist. He was very charming, to be sure, I had to remember myself. "Avive," I practically squeaked, then cleared my throat and spoke again. "Avive de Mauvais."

I filed the name away then righted myself and smiled.
"And what is a rare flower such as yourself doing with out and escort?" I asked furrowing my brow but smiling wryly. I stepped slowly toward the young blossom and smiled.
"There are some very mean people out there, just waiting to take advantage of such a delicate young thing like yourself."

"My guard is having a drink not too far off," I said quietly. I was not sure I liked him, this Shahrizai with his cunning grin and his flirtatious ways. I had not even caught his name yet. "I only have to yell and he will be here in two steps, Lord..." I waited for him to introduce himself.

I chuckled softly.
"Dominic," I said smiling at her. "Dominic Shahrizai."

"Please, just Dominic." I said holding my hand palm up. "For this of course." I said gesturing to the open market.
"And of course to meet new people...you?"

"The same," I said. "I am recently arrived from Siovale to stay with my cousin the Duc Alain de Mauvais, and to further my education. Currently, I am in search of a sticky dessert with nuts in it to bring to my cousin, who is working very hard."

The cousin to the Duc de Mauvais, of course.
"I know an old Hellene bakery that sells just the thing." I replied helpfully.

I eyed him warily. His earlier comment had made me feel a bit uneasy, but I was loath to form my opinions of him on a first impression. "Is it far from here?" I asked.

I shook my head and offered my arm.
"Not at all, I could show you myself." I looked over my shoulder then back at her. "Don't worry, I'll return you to your guard in one piece."

I chuckled, then took his arm. "Thank you, Dominic," I said. "My cousin has been very good to me, I am trying to repay him in some small way."

Leading the way down the street I nodded.
"Family is very important." I said with a wry smile mostly to myself.

"Yes," I agreed, "Though I have never had much of it. I am an only child and my mother died shortly after I was born."

"Thats too bad, I'm sorry for your loss. My parents died when I was young as well."

"It's all right," I said. "I never knew her, so I don't really miss her. I'm sorry for your loss as well. I've always had my father, but to lose both parents, that must have been very difficult."

I nodded again. "It was, but I was raised by my loving uncle and I always had Mala so it was never really that hard." I replied strangely at ease with the young flower.

"Of course." I said smiling as I looked up to see the bakery I had spoke of.
"She is my only family really."

We stepped up into the bakery. I peered into the glass cases containing different sweets. "Which were you thinking of before?" I asked him.

"Its called Baklava." I said in Hellene. "I think you'll like it very much." I pointed to the pastry's in one of the cases.

"Oh!" I exclaimed. "That's perfect." To the shopkeeper, I said, "Two baklava, please." The woman behind the counter wrapped the sweets in a square of cheesecloth and handed them to me. Placing a silver ducat in her hand, I tucked the sweets into my purse.
"Thank you for showing me this place," I said to Dominic. "I must remember to bring my cousin back here."

I rather liked this 'flower' business; I always have liked being everyone's darling. I could feel my cheeks turning pink as I said, "You flatter me."

I smiled. "Flattery?" I asked raising a brow and reaching my hand out to take hers in mine. I kissed her wrist again and looked up at her through my lashes.
"I simply speak the true fair lady."
