I dressed in a soft peach gown, long but with a decently low neckline that showed off a large peach shell I had collected while in Kriti. Strolling aimelessly I watched the people go by, the strangely foreign sounds of the new D'Angeline that I had to reaclimate myself to. Such a strangeness in a familar land.

Anxiously I walked through the streets, looking for anyone who looked remotely Yeshuite. I was so busy glancing all around me, I collided with a beautiful woman in a peach-colored dress. "Oh!" I cried. "Excuse me, lady."

I chuckled softly.
"Its alright." I replied. "It tends to happen." I noticed she had been gazing about before she bumped into me.

"I am sorry, I am so distracted, you see," I said, words tumbling out before I could stop them. "I'm looking for...someone. Or many someones. I am not sure yet."

I chuckled. "Alright, persons in particular?" I inquired interestingly.

I hesitated before answering. Yeshuites were still regarded as peculiar by many people and were generally avoided. Still, this woman seemed harmless enough. "My father," I said, "or anyone who may know him. He is a tinker; at least, that's what my mother said."

It was good to get out and I was correct about viewing the city at the height of its activity. I strolled down the street gazing into shops that last night had been dark and uninviting and felt my conscience eased. There was hope for me after all, and I decided that I would take the time to enter a few shops and at the very least browse their wares.
After entering a few of the smaller shops I started for one that specialized in imports and came across two very lovely ladies in the streets discussing the whereabouts of some one in particular. I stopped and waited for them to finish a sentence before letting on to my presence.
"I see that the loveliess of the day is complete with two of its most beautiful earthly representations," Grinning broadly I swept a bow to each of them, "Lucius de Keiler, my ladies, how does this day find you, well I hope?"

I curtseyed to the charming young man who had come up upon us, maybe he would know something too. Besides, it was good to meet people, good to make friends. "Merav de Valentin," I said, hesitating to use my full name. "It is a lovely day, although frustrating. I was just asking this young lady if she knew the whereabouts of - " here I hesistated again. " - my father."

I smiled to the gentleman that appeared.
"I'm Marquise Ariana de Lacroix," I said to the man. "But I've never heard of your father." I said Merav.

"I can't imagine you would have," I said, smiling weakly, "unless you needed a pot mended or a knife sharpened."
I explained further: "I have never met my father. My grandfather drove him away to prevent him from marrying my mother; I have come to the City to try and find him."

"A pleasure to meet you both," I said, I didn't recognize either of them by name but then I couldn't possibly know everyone.
At the mention of Merav's father my brow furrowed in contemplation, "Do you happen to know the name of his shop? I might be able to tell you something if I knew more." I asked her, my eybrow raising in inquiry.

"I'm afraid not," I said. "He was a travelling tinker, you see, and he was in Namarre for a spell. So he has no shop. I know his name though, Eliezer ben Avraham. My mother said he had a sister called Root who lived here."

It had been a rather uneventful day and, succumbing to my usual inability to sit still even while working, I had brought a blank book and a fountain pen with me to wander, writing down things as they crossed my attention. Wanting to be bothered as little as possible I was in my familiar lavender gown, simple but comfortable, with hair bound back in a tail to keep from brushing the wet-inked paper from my last notation.
My attention had never really been on my feet and I blundered into the midst of a ground of people and stumbled against one of their members- which one I couldn't have told you as they were all in a relatively tight group- and I looked up with a suprised smile. "Oh, I'm sorry, but hello," I said as I took them all in and then let my gaze fall on a shell strung around one woman's neck. "That's lovely," I added, gesturing at it. "I'm Jess."

I smiled to the new woman and smiled.
"Its a pleasure Jess." I said smiling, it was odd that some of the lower peers of the city addressed eachother in such a informal manner. Things had changed much since I was a child at court.
"And thank you, its from Kriti." I replied as I let my fingers lightly touch the shell.

I curtseyed to this lovely Jess. "Merav de Valentin," I said as a way of introducing myself, before managing to squeak out in surprise and awe, "You've been to Kriti?"

"Ah, I see, yes that would be troublesome to try and locate him then, I'm afraid." I said in reply to Merav just as another lovely young woman bumped into our little group.
She was certainly lovely and her simple dress only accentuated her fair features. "Lucius de Keiler, " I said, bowing to her curteously in reply to her self introduction, "Wonderful to meet you, Jess. " I smiled, our group was becoming larger by the moment, and I seemed to be surrounded by beautiful people. I was in heaven.

"It's wonderful to meet you all as well," I replied with a wide smile, eyes twinkling with merriment. "I'm sorry I was so rude as to stumble into the midst of your gathering- I was a little distracted."

My eyes widened. "It must have been wonderful there," I said to Ariana.
To Jess, I said, "That's quite alright, the more the merrier, ken?" The Habiru word slipped out before I could stop it, but I hoped this pretty Jess would not mind.

"I completely agree." I said smiling to Merav. "I know few people in the City since I left for Kriti. Its nice to have some one to talk to."

I nodded.
"Unfortunately I miss Kriti only because I'm not used to this weather." I said hugging myself against a cold chill.

Not wanting to overlook the fact that miss de Lacroix had aimed her question at Jess I turned to her, offering my suggestion. "The Cockeral might be just the place for us to visit, I would think, unless of course you had another place in mind?" I said, kindly deffering to her and the other ladies in general.
I smiled and added, "Ladies choice I always say." and left it up to them to decide.

"I know the Cockerel well so it sounds like a good idea to me," I replied with a mischevious grin- after all, it was not the sort of place most ladies went alone and that was why I insisted on doing it. "The White Hart usually has better cocoa though."
