Looking at her again, I smiled. It really was just a misunderstanding, nothing worth talking about anymore," I told her.

Nodding, I set down my tea and smiled. "What are you planning to do after this little interlude?" I asked, in an attempt to change the subject. "I should find some way to repay your friendliness."

"I didn't really have any plans, I have the rest of the day free. If you and I keep repaying each other we shall go broke," I said with a chuckle.

"You mean you don't have a large amount of money squirrelled away in some deep Bryony vault, far underground and guarded by goblins?" I asked, trying again for teasing and letting my eyes go wide with mock astonishment. "Still, I should do something. I've saved some coins away, just a few things, enough to at least repay your charming actions."

"I didn't say I'd go broke soon, just eventually," I told her, grinning. "What did you have in mind?"

"I was waiting for an idea to come to me," I admitted. "I just wanted to see if I should let my mind wander over the idea. Do you have a suggestion?"

Leaning back in my chair, I grinned wryly. "Not a one. I used up my ideas bringing you here. Now you'll just have to figure out what to do with me on your own."

"Then I'll think of something that will bore you to no end- like shopping for shoes," I told him. "Or a decent string of pearls."

"I like shopping," I told her, grinning still. "I will even help you get the best price for those pearls."

"But then I would owe you again," I protested. "It would a constant back-and-forth with me thinking of ways to thank you until my head hurt." The light outside was getting brighter as the sun moved across the sky and I turned my head to bask in it for a moment.

"Perhaps you shall just have to think of some way to pay me back for everything at once," I said after taking a moment to admire the way the sun danced across her skin.

"Then help me so I can work on paying you back rather than hurting my poor, simple mind," I teased, turning back to him and pulling my hair over one shoulder, head cocked slightly. "What have you wanted and been unable or unwilling to get or convince yourself to spend the money on?"

"Nothing," I told her honestly. "If there is something I want, I work until I get it. What about you, what do you want that you don't have?"

I thought for a moment, cocking my head sideways- there were many things I needed to do, but what did I want. "At the moment I am completely content- I also have a way of getting what I want. Perhaps I should find something frivolious for myself."

"What about from life in general?" I asked, tilting my head to the side slightly. "Is there something you want that you don't have?"

"My wants are usually subsumed by my needs- to do well by my family and House, serve Namaah and be a person that makes me proud. Wants are simple things, like a lemon cookie with a friend or a bit of freedom and peace to wander the City as I will- even a hint of pleasure now and again," I said with a smile. "I guess, in the end, I'm either a terribly simple or obnoxiously boring creature."

"I can see that side of things," I said diplomatically nodding my head slightly and thinking about what she had told me really said about her.

Cocking my head sideways I looked at Fisher closely. "What are you thinking?" I asked, curious and a little apprehensive. "Did I say something wrong?"

"Not at all," I told her, smiling. "I have always thought that what people secretly want from life says a lot about them and I was just thinking about what you said."

"Your wants say that you are content and happy. Mine," at this point I chuckled softly. "Mine say that I am driven and some would say they paint me as power hungry."

"But what about revelling in the power you already have, using it to a constructive purpose?" Absently I swept a tendril of curling hair out from in front of my eyes. "Surely there must be something you desire outside that span of thinking."

"I will be Dowayne of Bryony, that is my desire that makes people paint me as power hungry," I said with a grin.

"I thought I was ambitious for wanting to be well-known- you certainly have me in awe of your power-hunger," I teased. "What will you do when you are Dowayne? Any interesting changes to your House you're planning to make?"

"Those are for me to keep to myself for now. Once I am Dowayne I will let you in on any changes I plan to make," I told her, smiling.

"I'll probably still be in Dahlia at that point so I will be around for you to tell." A light grin crossed my face as I finished the last bit of cookie I'd been picking over. "But what will you do it you're unjustly passed over?"

"Its good to hear you have so much faith." I drank the last of the tea before the dregs and then set the cup down, pushing it slightly away.

Somehow I had finished my own cookies without realizing it. I took my last drink of tea and pushed my own cup away. "Would you like something else?" I asked her.

Smoothly I shook my head in the negative. "Some of us have to work on keeping our figures," I teased. "Self-discipline is required to stay as fit as I try to stay. Still, they were wonderful cookies so don't tempt me too much. My will only extends so far."
