I thought about it for a few moments then said, "well, I know a couple of shops which are popular with Eglantine adepts and normally sell good quality items. I am sure we could find something in one of those places. I usually just wonder and see what I can find. Unless I'm buying paint supplies of course."

"Since we are standing in front of one, we should get in, then." I suggested. "It will give us something to stard with, won't it?" I added as I walked towards the door.

"Sounds like a good ideal to me." I followed Geraldine through the door into the clothing shop she chose. I looked around to get an ideal of what was offered then asked Dina if she saw anything that caught her eye.

I passed through the revolving door and blinked a little. I always found those stores insufficiently lit. Then again, only a sunny day could satisfy my need for light.
In a corner, a soberly clad lady was examining some lavender fabrics with the help of what seemed to me to be a very knowledgeable clerk.
The back of the shop presented a whole display of evening gowns. I walked to the display and looked at the available offers, but did not fall in love with any of the dresses on display, although a black gown's design did intrigue me. I thread over to have a better look at the gown, and felt the material.

I followed Dine toward the dresses she wanted to look at. I saw the gown that she was fingering. "Its pretty,' I told her, "but to bad it didn't come in a different color."

"I agree. Black was never much for me, I guess. Is there anything you would suggest? I'm not very enticed, but I am open to suggestions..." I noted.

I looked around and shrugged, "I don't know, there isn't anything here that completely excites me either. We could try another shop."

I mirrored Aaliyah' shrug. "I agree," I replied. I started making my way for the door when the clerk walked up to me and gently took my arm.
"If you'll allow me, I'd like you to have a look at this dress in a different light," she said. Stunned, I stayed frozen in my tracks as she went to the display case and removed the black dress from its model.
"You see," she said, "this dress is not meant really to be a dress. You should try it on. What gives it color and personnality is the wearer. And you would look lovely in this", she added after she seized my figure.
I walked over to the dress. I had liked the design, after all, how the back was cut indecently low and how the sleeves were cut to the side, how the dress was curving to accentuate the waist and how it snuggly hugged the breasts, showing much more skin then I was used to. If I bought this dress, I would definitely be threading out of the beaten path.
At the clerk's beckoning, I bent over a little to look more closely at the fabric. The dress was not black. It was a deep royal blue, coated in a translucid black veil that seemed to give it a black shimmer.
I laughed. "Now that will be the day! I always thought this shop needed better lighting," I added in a chuckle.
"Aaliyah, what do you think ?" I felt some compassion for the clerk who obviously was loath to see a nice sell go out her door, but I didn't want to wait anybody's time. On the other hand, trying it would not be a waste of time if it entertained us...

My eyes rose at sigh of the door being opened, and the two friends entered the shop. Softly I thanked the clerk, Marie was her name, and let her see to her new customers. I looked around at some of the other fabrics, then found myself drawn to the dress designs, along with the other two.
My eye was caught by a design as I half-listened to their light hearted conversation. Square neckline, long flowing sleeves. Long enough that, if I was careful, I wouldn't need to wear gloves. I tried to imagine it in the lavander velvet that had initially caught my eye...

I'd been in the back on an errand of my House, giving verbal instructions to an elderly man who wrote with a firm hand. The store had been quite empty upon my arrival, so when I emerged from the under-sized door in the back, I was surprised to find not one, but three people in it. Two stood off together, pouring over a dress which appeared to be ebony, and one alone, her back to me.
It was habit that I choose an obviously friendly person to converse with, though I left the lone woman a long look as I leaned against a wall, arms crossing my chest, humming softly to myself.

I was surprised and a little annoyed at myself when I didn't notice the mulitifabric design of the dress. It gave the dress a diffrent but interesting effect. I chided myself inwardly for not looking close enough but smiled at Geraldine.
"It really is a nice dress after all, and does look like it would fit you well." I then got over my annoyance with myself and in a more cheerful voice said, "the only way to really know would be if you tried it on."

Some handsome fellow came in the back door and I lifted my head from the dress a split moment to seize him. Maybe a fellow adept ? I thought to myself before I got back to the matter at hand.
I was laughing to myself. The color had put me off too, and I could see Aaliyah was chastising her for not seeing something which, I thought, was barely visible anyway. I put my hand on her arm and smiled : "That is so very true. It won't hurt to try it, anyways."
I complimented the clerk: "You did well to stop me. Can you please direct me to the changing room?"
The girl, a pretty and graceful thing who must have been my age, showed me an area close to the back of the shop where several booths were hidden in curtains. I entered the booth, where a small couch and a chair allowed to put garments neatly.
The clerk took a moment to bring in the dress, and after she left, I proceeded to fight off my corset. Once I had made my way out of it, I undressed, placing my green dress neatly on the couch.

The elderly clerk who had worked with me in the back came back up to me, distracting me momentarily from the splendid view of the three pretty women. Cloths approved and disapproved, an adjustment to a line upon a jacket, and the man tottered off again, muttering softly to himself under his breath. By the time I turned back 'round, two of the three were gone, and I was left comtemplating what to do.

A man caught the corner of my vision, and I turned subtly to get a better look. My, wasn't he nice to look at... But I brought my mind back to the task at hand, and caught Marie after she took care of the other two, to try on the gown.
I came back out to look in the mirrors. I didn't much like the white, but the fabric was the same weight as the lavender, and would be easy to substitute in. "What do you think?" I ventured the question to the room in general, wanting opinions other than Marie's overly positive one.

I waited outside of the dressing room for Geraldine to try on the dress. "You better come out and show me," I chided her, though I knew that she would do so anyhow. Not to far away from Geraldine's dressing room the peer who had been outside earlier stepped out in a white dress. When she seemed to ask no one in particular what they thought I couldn't help but to throw out my opinion.
"Its a cute dress, but the white kind of pales you a little more than normal." I thought for a moment than added, "if you could add some color to the top of the dress, where its near your face, than it would lessen the effects. You could probably leave the skirt portion alone." I then gave her a friendly smile, not wanting to seem to nosy or pushy.

I watched the banter go between the ladies as they mulled over dresses and designs, colors and fabrics with an amused expression. As one of the pair in the back called up to the one in the front, I looked to the garment she was holding.
"Color to the top would be a nice addition," I said, "Though it would take away from the lovely features of your face." Not moving from where I leaned, my smile grew slightly, a mixture of friendly impishness and coy amusement. "I would suggest a solid, darker color for the entire thing. Nothing to distract then."

I started to slip on the dress, when I realized something. It was not meant to be worn with a corset.
The back was cut deep to the small of the back and showed the whole of my marque. The front was also cut low between my breasts, showing their shape and silhouette like I had never flaunted them. The material, in the light of the cabin, shimmered a strange dark green, and I wondered at what this material was.
As I removed my corset completely to put on this dress, I heard someone call out “What do you think?” I finished slipping it on and it was a wonder of a dress, hugging my hips and my waist like no other I’d worn.
I shuddered to think this was something meant to be worn in public. Why was I even doing this in the first place? Then my body reminded of how it had shivered and shuddered under his touch, and a familiar wetness began to rise at the core of me. Because I want him to want me again.
I knew my face was a bit flushed but I didn’t want to make Aaliyah wait any longer. So I swallowed my shyness and pulled open the curtain. Mirroring the question I just heard, I belted it out, a little too fast : “What do you think?”

I was about to say something in reply to the male adept's thoughts on the peer's dress when Geraldine burst out of the dressing room, almost it seemed in a blush. The dress was pretty revealing, but in all the right ways. It sparked the curiosity instead of completely giving away all the answers. It might not have been red, but it was impossible to deny that it fit her well.
"That dress looks amazing on you," I said in a burst of excitment. "You should be able to attract anyone your heart desires with it."

I almost laughed at the reactions I got from my fellow shoppers. The girl was quite opinionated, in a sweet way. And the man both offered advice, and flirted. A grin grew, but otherwise I was hopeless to respond. I flirt about as well as a donkey.
And then the other woman came out of the dressing room, and my eyebrows rose. The gown was gorgeous, but it showed off so much skin. I didn't know how she came out here with the self-confidence that she had.

A chuckle escaped me as I realized the woman wasn't going to return my friendly advice, or my friendly flirt, though before I could say more the second of the pair belted out a question to her companion, and I turned my head to see.
Skin! Elua, but the dress fitted her nicely, and I appreciated every tiny movement she made. Still, her question was directed to her friend only and not the room, and as such I remained quiet; besides, it was past time I returned to Jasmine. Being in a store with three beautiful women was most definitely more appealing, however duty called and I must answer.
Giving the two in the back a last look, I turned and headed towards the exit. "I meant it," I said, calling softly to the lone figure in the front of the store. "A darker shade, hair back, and let those of us around you admire your face." A smile, a bow of my head, and I was gone, through the doors with a long-legged gate.

I was still flushed and embarrassed, but hugged Aaliyah impulsively. "Really? You think?" Then, eying both the departing man and the peer, I whispered to her "Did I miss something?"

I happily returned Geraldine's hug and then shrugged, "nothing too major," I said in a low voice, "she just asked opinion on her dress and we both gave it. I think he had to go back to his house or something since he had been doing buisness with the store."

"Oh. I see," I replied in Aaliyah's ear. Turning to the peer, I curtsied and smiled: "if you don't mind, I would gladly trade some advice. I would love for you to tell me what you think of this, and would gladly throw in my opinion if you will want to hear it."

I watched his departing figure with a bemused expression. Catching the eye of Marie, she came over.
"Who was that?" I asked softly, not wanting to attract the attention of the other women.
"He is from Jasmine House, um, Troy I believe."
I nodded my thanks, before one of the other customers spoke. I smiled softly, forcing myself to ignore the curtsy. I was my supposed right after all. "Of course. Where were you planning on wearing it?"

I blushed. If a peer was wondering whether the dress was fit for public exhibition, then maybe I should not wear it at all.
"Well, to be frank, this is not my usual style. I am much more conservative in my habits. I was trying to go out of the beaten path," I replied, blushing. "Do you find the dress offensive?" I added with a sudden look of concern in my eyes.

"I am only trying to be preemptive. I need to renew myself a little, and I expect there will be more Fetes to come, so I wanted to be ready," I replied.
Thinking aloud I added "Well I guess I'll have to think about it. I loved it when I saw it, but now that I am wearing it, I am unsure," I concluded with a grin. "Thank you, though," I added, both to the attention of Aaliyah and the peer.
Turning my attention to the white gown the peer had been eyeing, I changed subjects and asked "Was this the gown you were considering?"

She was so open with her thoughts, it made me smile. "If I could hazard another comment, you'd definitely capture the eye of everyone when you walked into a room. And yes." I eventually answered her question. "I was thinking more of the cut than the colour."

I waited until the two ladies where done talking before I butted in, not wanting to be to rude. Putting an arm around Dine's shoulders I said, "I hope you are not holding back on this dress simply because you are feeling a little shy about it. It really does look good on you."

I smiled with pleasure at both the Peer's comment and Aaliyah's very pertinent observation. What a pleasure it was to have such a clairvoyant friend !
"Thanks! I guess I should consider it. I will wear it a little longer and see if I get used to it," I said to both my friend and my fellow shopper. Turning again my attention to the dress the peer had been contemplating for a while, I added "I really like this model, but if I were you I'd want a more contrasted color, something that would not upstage your delicate features."
