Afternoon with LaValle

"I wouldn't want to impose on you." I replied quickly.

"However when you do have some free time, I'd love a tour. It'll also give us some time to talk about a few things that have been bothering me lately." One of those things being the gentleman that she was with.

"It would be my pleasure. My schedule is pretty flexible, just let me know when you would like to get together," I said before taking a sip of my tea. Even starting to cool it was delicious. I took a bite of cake too, it was deliciously light and creamy.

I smiled at LaValle, hoping he wasn't feeling left out and glad that I would have more time alone with him this afternoon.

Watching the ladies chat while eating cake and drinking tea was fine with me; I wasn't a very good conversationalist anyway and I had the strangest feeling Tempeste was eying me. Still, I just kept petting Shylah and watched them, smiling at Leyna when she looked concerned.

The waiter walked over and informed me that my carriage had arrived.

"Well I really have enjoyed this afternoon with you Cousin, and I'll definately let you know when my schedule is open." I said with a grin. " And it was a pleasure meeting you as well LaValle, maybe our paths will cross again and you won't be as shy."

I walked to my carrage thinking to myself, I just scared the hell out of him.

I watched Tempeste leave, wondering what she was rushing off to see to.

"Thank you for being so patient with me just bringing another guest to our table," I said to LaValle, smiling and laughing softly.

"It was nice; she seems like she's a good cousin to have," I said, smiling lightly. Her laugh was pleasant as birds chirping and made me grin more widely. Shy and flushing a little I added, "It is a little nice to have you to speak freely to, though."

I smiled around my last bite of cake.

"She is nice. I honestly haven't seen her in so long it almost seems like forever," I said. I pushed my plate aside and leaned over as if to tell him a secret. "I am glad to be able to spend time alone with you too."

I leaned back, smiling. "I do look forward to seeing Tempeste again though, we have a lot of catching up to do."

"It's good that you get to viit with family from time to time; I haven't seen my brothers or parents- well, my mother and stepfather- since I was dedicated, but they do write from time to time. I doubt I'll be able to recognize them when I get a chance to visit home," I said with a small smile, remembering my stepbrothers who had always fought to defend me and treated me as their blood.

"I will always be able to recognize you, no matter how long we are apart," I told him, smiling. "What was your childhood like? Or do you mind me asking?"

"I don't remember very much- I was brought to Alyssum when I was eight years old," I said quietly. "My mother and stepfather were worried about me because I wouldn't stand up to the other children when they tried to be cruel to me. Finally my stepbrothers started getting into fights to defend me and they knew what was happening- I never told them before that. I remember the ocean a little and my family, but not much else."

My heart ached at the thought of a young LaValle picked upon by other children. I reached and took his hand in mine.

"I owe a debt to your parents for bringing you to Alyssum, otherwise I might never have met you," I said, smiling softly.

"So do I," I said quietly, catching her eyes with mine. I was happy here and I didn't want her to feel sorry for me; it was in the past, and such things happened. "I am happy to have the chance to know you."

"And I you," I said, my smile brightening. "and Shylah also." I laughed and took the last drink of my tea.

I motioned for the waiter to bring the bill.

"Where shall we go next? Or do you just want to slowly wander back to Alyssum?"

"Oh yes, Shylah as well- she's just being so polite I forget she's there," I said apologetically, patting Shylah in my own way of saying I was sorry to her.

Thinking for a moment I smiled, flushing a little. "Whatever you want to do it fine- really, I have no preference."

I pulled out some coins and handed them to the waiter who bowed and smiled before leaving.

"Well truthfully, I am more interested in spending time with you than looking at shops, so how about we just wander a little and slowly end up some where?" I said, smiling happily.

Blushing at her wanting to spend time with me alone I nodded shyly in answer. "I'd like that," I said quietly, brushing a hand along her arm and flushing at my boldness. "If we could end up somewhere, where would you like it to be?" I asked curiously.

I took his hand in mine, holding it as I stood.

"I really don't know. I enjoy being with you so much that I can't really think of needing anything else to add to it. You're my spot if peace and tranquility in this large city," I told him softly.

We were alone on the patio so I leaned over and kissed his cheek quickly.

Smiling I flushed a deeper red, flattered by her words and murmuring, "Thank you." When Leyna's lips touched my cheek they felt like a brand and my breath caught slightly, my hand squeezing hers just a little more firmly, my other hand going to her cheek and caressing it lightly.

More for his modesty than for mine, my eyes flicked around to be sure we were still alone before I pressed my lips to his and kissed him tenderly.

I smiled when I pulled back, looking in his eyes. "Shall we wander?"

Returning her kiss with as much tenderness, though maybe a bit more want than I would have liked to exhibit in public, I ran a hand through her hair. Mint, lemon, sugar and apples- the tastes blended and were almost intoxicating.

When she pulled back and caught my eyes I nodded, too dazed from the after-effects of the kiss to even blush. "Yes," I said quietly, wanting whatever she wanted.

I slipped my hand into his and we exited the tea shoppe and back out to the street. I stopped, looking around for which way to begin to wander, but all I could think about was how sweet his lips had tasted and the heat that rose within me.

"How about we start…"my voice trailed off.

I blushed at what I was about to say but plunged ahead anyway.

"I've changed my mind. I don't want to see the City. I want to go back to Alyssum. I want to be with you."

Blood pulsing in my ears I caught her eyes with mine, which were probably showing a little of the heat I heard in her words as it rose within me in waves. Gently I raised the back of her hand to my lips, just barely brushing her skin, and brought it to my cheek for a moment. "Then let's go," I said.

I trembled in anticipation and rising desire.

Somehow I resisted the urge to run as I twined my fingers with his turned us towards the Night Court.
