“Quite well,” I replied, my hand touching thoughtlessly a pair of breeches in a deep, dark green that was almost petroleum blue. “I think he’d like to find love, though. He gave me the impression of restlessness in that respect.” The young lady came by, and shook her head at my visible interest in the breeches, indicating something closer to a dark grey-green. I nodded in appreciation, and asked, “Joie, what do you think?”

I tilted my head a little, thinking on the colors together. "That'd look alright," I responded at length, then looked up at Sieg with a smile. "Whatever you think you'd like together best."
"For Caine... I hope he finds whatever his heart needs. He's by far too nice to be listless."

I gave her a chuckle. “As long as I don’t look like a peach-frilly clown, I’m alright,” I replied with an amused tone. “You’re right about Caine,” I replied with a little grin. “I don’t doubt someone will come along eventually. I was a much more desperate case, and look at me today…”

I smiled widely, patting his arm in a friendly like fashion. "All that matters is being happy, whether you're involved with someone or not." I smiled, gesturing to the fitting rooms. "Do you want to try them on and see what you think?"

“Agreed,” I replied. “To both,” I added as an after thought. The clothes were on my arm in a jiffy, and I asked the clerk for directions. As I made my way to the room, I turned and shot Joie a grateful smile. “You have the patience of an angel, Joie de Mornay,” I told her with a grin.

"That's because I'm charging you for my time," I called back, a large, playful grin on my face. I made my way towards the dress racks, interested in browsing while I was here.

With a chuckle, I entered the booth, and tried on the pants. I will admit I had sincere concern for the leg length – with my height, I usually have to order them, though this time, I had the pleasant surprise of finding it worked well enough.
The shirt fell comfortably on my shoulders. I looked at my self as I could, finding myself at ease in these clothes. That was an important factor. I left my clothes neatly stacked in the booth, and stepped out. I wondered what Joie had been up to – shopping, likely. She’d mentioned she wanted something for her salon, after all.

I hadn't noticed Sieg as he first emerged; my attention was on the a pretty cobalt blue dress, cut with simple, flowing lines. I could have been wrong, but I suspected it would cling to my waist and a little to my hips, helping show my womanly curves.
When at last I looked up, I took in the form of a tall, blonde man in shades of green. "You look dashing," I said immediately, smiling warmly at him as I took the dress and made my way over.

I couldn’t help but preen a little for her praise. It was sublime, to have a shopping mate so readily encouraging. “Thank you, my lady,” I replied, bobbing an whimsical bow. “It is really all thanks to you, dear friend,” I added as I closed the distance.
I looked at the dress she was holding, and raised an eyebrow. “No pink this time, heh? It is fitting that you get blue, since I am getting out of it, I guess,” I added teasingly.

I grinned at him and shrugged lightly. "I don't know; blue seems more professional than pink, more calming. At least for the first day, anyhow."
I smiled and reached out, tugging a little on his sleeve to feel the length and flex of the fabric. "How does the clothing feel?"

I laughed, agreeing completely. Blue looked perfect at all times, pink did not, unless it were Joie, or Rae, or any of the lovely women I knew. Even Sylvie would pull it off, even that worthless Joelle.
I moved around a little, and finally replied, “Very comfortable. I like it.” I glanced at the dress, and added, “And you should try it on.”

I smiled broadly, very pleased that he was happy with the clothing he was wearing. "Anything you plan on wearing with it?" I asked as I disappeared into one of the changing rooms, not fussing about talking to him while switching dresses.

“What do you mean?” I asked as I hovered close enough that we wouldn’t be shouting in the store. I put my hands in the pocket of the new pants, and found it was quite comfortable. Then it struck me. “Oh, are you suggesting a jacket?”

My old dress stripped already, I was letting the new one fall over my head when I answered him, making my voice a little more muffled than I'd intended. "That," I said, grinning from behind the door. "Or even something smaller, such as a doublet."
Satisfied with the fit, I twisted my arms behind me and did up every other button, not bothering to take the time to fasten them all. Opening the door, I smoothed my dress out over the flat of my stomach and smiled at him, then moved towards the mirrors to inspect myself.

That idea had merit, and so I idly eyed the section as silence fell between us. Something in dark green struck my eye, and I set it aside, wanting to have Joie’s opinion on the matter. She came out, and I returned her smile, finding that the color suited her quite well.
“You’re looking great in blue,” I ventured, not feeling particularly adequate in my opinion.

"Thank you," I said, smiling at him through the mirrors reflective face. I turned, inspecting the fit, trying to imagine myself in my parlor, greeting clients. It was too loose in the hips and chest, but that was easily fixed.

“You’re welcome,” I said quietly, returning to my observation of the jacket rack as she toyed with the dress. Gods, but I disliked shopping, I realized. I set aside a few jackets, waiting patiently for her to be done with her process. After a while, I looked up, and teasingly, I said, “Yes, Joie, you are lovely, no need to admire yourself so…” I got ready to duck for my irreverent tease – but there were few of my friends with whom I felt at ease to be so whimsical.

I looked at him through the mirror again, grinning at his poking jest. "Well, if you think so, Sieg, I'll just go ahead and believe you."
Turning, I made my way over to where he was, still wearing the dress I'd tried on. "Have a few things picked out? Any one in particular you like best?"

I showed her a long jacket in a darker green, something that, I thought, complemented the rest properly, and unceremoniously shrugged it on.
“What do you think?” I asked as I turned around and buried my hands in my pockets casually. “Is it ridiculous?”

“Thank you,” I replied, giving her the foolish bow I had back in my office. Quirkily, I asked, “Now, the matter at hand seems to have shifted. Will you, or will you not go ahead with this blue vision?”

I flashed him a smile, finding the bow quite amusing. "I think so," I said, running my hands over the curve of my waist and hips. "I like how it looks. I should probably go put my other dress on, though, and see about getting this one altered."
I smiled and made my way back to the dressing rooms, my hand twisting behind me and beginning to undo them even as I was opening up the door to go in. That dress was off and mine on within minutes, and I was back out again, my gaze shifting to look for a clerk to speak with. "Was there anything else you wanted to look at while we were here?" I asked, smiling at him before looking for a clerk again.

It was only when Joie disappeared in the recess of the changing room that I realized I needed to change back into my own garb, and with a grunt at myself for my silly obliviousness, I stalked to the men’s corner and changed back into my clothes.
I’d barely returned myself when Joie reappeared, and I was somewhat impressed by her efficiency and the speed at which she emerged once more. “No, I’m all set,” I said as I strolled to the counter and set my would-be purchases on the top. I spotted the clerk behind a rack and called them out. “What about you?” I asked Joie while the clerk padded our way.

"I'm ready whenever you are, chief," I popped back at him. The arrival of the clerk cut off any more of what I might have said, and a small chat later I was through, my measurements given and the dress handed over.
Looking back at Sieg, I gestured to the clothing I assumed he was going to purchase. "Does that need to be tailored at all?" I asked, smiling. "I'll go ahead and pay for my dress now if so."

I gave Joie a doubtful look. “I didn’t think it did.” My brow furrowed, and I asked, “Did it?”
I suddenly felt completely inept, once more, as far as chiffon went.

Oh gods, he was doing it again, pulling at my heartstrings and making me pause midstep. I made my way to his side again, my arm slipping through his as I looked up at him. "How'd it feel when you wore them?" I ventured, my voice pleasant.

I shrugged. "Fine. Comfortable." I thought a moment, and added, "I remember being amazed a the length of the leg - for once, it wasn't too short." I frowned, and shrugged a second time. "Yes, I suppose they were alright."

"Then it should work," I replied, smiling fondly at him. "I have to get going soon to tend to a meeting with the owner of a healers shop about supplies needed for my parlor," I said. "If you and your beloved are not busy in the next month, I'd love to have you both over for dinner. My sister will be gone - the house is dreadfully quiet and lonely without her."

“Oh, alright,” I replied as I distractedly paid for the purchases. “I should probably get back to the practice anyway,” I added with a nonchalant tone that was belied by the warmth in my eyes.
Waiting for her to pay her commission, I added, “I’ll have to speak to Rae and set a date, then. I will send word, how’s that?”

I laid out my things after he'd paid for his, a small, hidden pouch producing money to pay for my purchase. "Sounds wonderful," I replied with a smile, then leaned up and brushed my lips across his left cheek. "I'll wait for your word, then, before sending my own."
Smiling thanks to the clerk, I gathered my bundle. "I'll see you then?" I asked, looking back at Sieg.
