I arrived in the clothiers district mid afternoon. Although I didn’t have much money for clothing I decided it was time to get an idea as to what I would wear for my debut. Personally I find myself to be the most pleasing in what the Gods have blessed me with, but from what I have heard… they want me in something. I looked in the windows of an elegantine shop. Fabrics… lots of fabrics, colors… eh, no red for me. Apparently my bored expression caught the eye of an older lady whose arms were laden with bags.
“Young man, would you mind helping a lady with her things?” she asked me arrogantly.
I didn’t know weather to scoff at her due to her lack of respect, or to help her. I chose the higher rout this time and silently took the largest of her parcels.
“Thank you child” she said to me… I hated that word… child. I followed her silently as she rambled on about her day of shopping. Why I did this for her, I don’t know. Pure boredom. She reached her coach and I loaded her belongings for her.
“You look sad. Here, I hope this will be sufficient for your efforts today.” She handed me a coin. I took it.
“Is that all the thanks I get?” she said in a high pitched voice.
I bowed to her and simply said “Thank you my Lady.”
She turned away from me, her arrogant smile gone from her face. The door to her coach was closed by one of her servants. And that is when I smiled.
