I was on my way through the clothier's district when a gown caught my eye. Now, I have never been much of a window shopper, but the red folds of the gown would look delightful on Malabelle. And the blue beside it would make Soleil even more radiant than she already was, with that pregnant glow. I sighed. If either knew my thoughts at the moment, I would have been so regretting it.

~e~The Week before the Royal Hunt~e~ I just stepped out of the shop, where I'd ordered the dress for Riva. The Hunt Fete was so close, almost up on us, and I'd found myself blessed to find a clothier who had the flexibility to work on such a short notice. As I stepped out, a man caught my attention. Well. Not him, really, but his sigh, as he pondered in front of the window, looking almost longingly at a pair of dressed. I don't usually do this, but the tease was so tempting, I couldn't resist it. "Fawning over the dress of your dreams?" I asked with a humorous smile. Likely he wasn't, but maybe my little jest would make him smile. My own good mood was... unbearable for some, in truth, but I felt this irrepressible compulsion to spread the joy. ~edit to add timeline note~

I turned to the owner of the comment, saw the teasing grin, and chuckled. "Hardly. Just thinking on the two women that would match the gowns."

"That's more like it," I replied with a wide chuckle. "Two women, huh? Quite the player, I see."
I felt amused - mostly because that could have been me a while back. Well. Let me correct that - it could have been me today, had my sister not told me she would contract at Eglantine, for a change.
"My women make me shop for them too, sometimes. My sympathies," I offered with a chuckle. In truth, I didn't mind - I liked seeing them in their glory, all of them.

I laughed. "Thank you. I do indeed feel sorry for myself on some days," I replied with a grin. "You have more than one as well?"

A large laughter exited my throat, mostly for the pleasure that my tease had changed his point of view, from sigh, to laughter.
"I do, and the story is long," I replied amicably. "Though I suspect yours is too." I looked at the sky, gauging the time. It was early in the day, still, since I'd made a fast job of that shopping, and so I said, "Tell you what, why don't we compare notes over a pint of ale, yes?"

I smiled and extended my hand. I didn't have any other errands to do, and Mala wasn't expecting me until supper. "Sure. I'm Christophe Legard nó Valerian." The name still felt a bit awkward on my tongue.

I took the extended hand, giving it a good shake. "Gillermo Stregazza," I replied. I remembered my experience with that Orchis adept, and kept to myself the remainder of my very long title. It didn't matter - and I'd give it if it gained importance.
"I've been itching to try the Alban tavern, how's that for you?" I asked warmly, not bothering with any formality.
Huh. A Valerian adept. Well... that would be interesting - I'd only ever encountered his female counterparts, and only in the context of an assignation. Bah, I mused, nothing wrong with new encounters.

Stregazza? Interesting.
"Sounds good," I replied with a friendly grin. "I haven't been there either."

"How convenient," I replied with a smile. "Onwards, then."
I didn't let it show, but part of me wondered what in the world compelled me to telling my life's tale to a near stranger. I was willing to bet it had to do with the fact that I hadn't caroused in a while, and that To-Biko had been overly busy with his conflicting schedule, leaving me short a drinking partner.
