I walked through the streets of Mont Nuit, suposingly searching for a dress for the wedding the adepts had been invited too. I was usually honored by such an occasion, but it seemed that lately I couldn't attend anything without running into my past. I had taken great care to run away from it and it kept on following me. At least the Coronation fete hadn't been all bad, I had meet Bayard after all.
I smiled slightly with thoughts of him, not really looking where I was going. I saw someone walk out of one of them establishments out of the corner of my eye, and almost ran into her. Fortunately my instincts were still strong and I moved sideways quickly in order to miss her.
"I apologize," I said, taking in a vision of fire red hair and the rare site of a female in breeches.

Oh gods.
The tatoo I'd just received from Darien sent my mind spinning as my back hit the wall. The poor girl apologized almost immediately, and I stood straight, wincing at the pain.
"I'm the one to apologize," I replied. "I wasn't looking."
I took an instant to look at her... something about her... I couldn't quite place it.

I could see the obvious look of pain on her face and I frowed a little. She didn't seemed bothered, but I had to be sure. "Are you ok?" I asked.

"I will be, don't worry about it," I told her sweetly. Oh, she looked about my age... "I wouldn't be wincing if I hadn't just got some work done on my back," I said matter-of-factly, indicating the sign above our heads that read, Salon Kachine.
"I'm Julie, by the way," I added by way of introduction.

I looked up when Julie nodded toward the sign, I hadn't even realize I was in front of the Salon. It reminded me how little I had of my own marque done. Of course, I had arrived at Dahlia a few years later than most.
"My name is Ellette," I said, keeping things informal since she had. "are you an adept?" I had not seen her before, but most of the back marquings I had seen where on adepts.

I shook my head, still smiling. "No, though sometimes I think I'd be more educated if I were," I replied with a grin. In this setting, I couldn't tell. There was no back to look at, no revealing evening dress. We were just two girls standing on a sidewalk.
"Well met, then Ellette," I replied and then I asked, on a whim, "Are you an adept?"

I returned Julie's smile at her comment about being an adept. "I am, my marque is held by Dahlia House" I told her, then added, "they do teach you a lot as an adept." I then asked curiously, "what are you having tattooed on your back?"
Julie did perk my intrest a little, if anything she wasn't dressed like most of the females I'd seen bustling around Mont Nuit. She was also around my age, which made it easier to converse.

Dalhia. Rannan's sister was at Dahlia.
No. It would be too chancy, too... no. It would be to easy, to meet her like this. I shook the thought away.
I grinned mischievously, "You show me yours, I'll show you mine... though this is maybe not the best place for such bets," I added practically.

I cocked my head a little at her remark, she was an interestig person. It seems that the people I have been meeting lately fit in that catagory. Or maybe I had made myself too plain. Either way I was not going to dwell on it right now. I would, however, like to see what she had tattooed on her back. My tattoo choice came with ease, since all of Daliha shared the same one. Julie on the other hand would of had to pick hers.
"It would not do for me to be flipping my skirts out here in the street," I said with a smile, my eyes twinkling a little at my uncommon joke. "do you have any place in mind?"

I laughed at her pleasantry and said, "No, it wouldn't and neither would stripping of my shirt do," I told her with a grin.
I scratched my chin in though, and said, "Maybe we could go to the clothier's district and try on some dresses? This way, we can show each other without showing the world."
I cringed a bit at the thought - but I'd worn dressed before - I would again, so why not? Besides, it wasn't like I would buy any... it was all pretend.

I nodded, "actually dress shopping would be good for my anways. I have a wedding to attend. Is there any place in particular that you want to go?"

I shrugged. "I'm not buying anything, so... it's entirely up to you," I replied openly, though my brow lifted in curiosity. "A wedding? Congratulations ! Is it in your family?"

Apparently the L'Enver's wedding wasn't as far reaching as I had thought. "No, its a peer wedding and the adepts are invited. I have an assignation for it."
I started walking down the street, figuring Julie would join. "I usually just browse the shops at random, I can't say I have a favorite."

I fell in step with her, nodding at the last words she'd said. I would just tag along and show her my tattoo when we had a chance to use a changing room. Besides, she looked like a good person, and she had poise - something I could learn from her.
"Congratulations on the assignation," I told her. "Is it very common for peers to contract adepts at at wedding? I will admit, I'm not very versed in such matters."

I thought for a moment about her question. "It would probably depend on the wedding. Though it might seem odd, contracting adepts for an occasion seems to run in waves, sometimes it seems everyone will then at other times hardly no one. This wedding, however, seems to be popular for contracting."
I was curious so I asked, "have you ever contracted an adept?"

I blushed, thinking of that fateful night where I'd had my rite of passage. "Yes, once, you know... that first time," I told her evasively. I didn't really like talking about my sex life, if it wasn't with Ambre or Noelle. But that was mostly because it always troubled me a little.
I cocked my head to the side, and looked at her, "Who's wedding is this, that is so popular and making Mont-Nuit bustle?"

I nodded when Julie mention she had contract an adept for her first, many people do. Typically the more experanced adepts are given those assignations so that there are no mistakes.
"The wedding is between Elliot L'Envers and Caraf no' L'Envers. The adepts have been invited, with or without an assignation because Caraf was an adept."

"Ah," I replied.
I was set to thinking, L'Envers, L'Envers..... I smacked my self in the head. Of course. The Sovereign Duc of Nammare ! I hadn't heard of his marriage - but then again I'd never met him. I wondered if the family would be invited, seeing as he was our liege, and made a note to mention it to Kendrick when given the chance.
"That's lovely," I replied. "Not everyone is as lucky as her," I added sweetly. "And what kind of dress were you going to wear for this?"
I was genuinely curious - I owned a grand total of three dresses. The two I had worn on Coronation day, and the one I'd worn at Falla's funeral. It really wasn't my area of expertise.

Julie seemed to have a moment of recognition after she had thought about the L'Envers, but I did not ask her about it. I didn't know them at all, nor did I know Caraf. I only knew of them.
"I don't know exactly what kind of dress I'm looking for," I told her. I thought to Sebastian for a moment, it would make sense to find a dress that he would like. I then added with a bit of a quizical look on my face, "I guess I need a dress that shows I am a person with character."

I gave Ellette a look that was betrayed the confusion in me. "A person of character?"
What in the world did that suggest?

I shrugged slightly, "that is what my patron wants, someone with dignity and character. I suppose I should find a dress that is eligant and perhaps shows my back some, since Dahlia is known for their dignity."

"Elegance and regality," I noted. "I thought that meant you had to be original," I noted with a grin, though my shoulders slumped a bit.
"Your patron sounds interesting - what kind of a man is he?"

I gave Julie a wry grin at her comment about being original, though I knew it was only in gest, "you would be surprised how well some people can act."
I then thought about Sebastian for a moment, "I didn't meet him for long," I told her, "mainly long enough that I could tell I wouldn't have a horrible evening and accepted the assignation. Though I will say he is quite a bit taller than me."

"Really?" I asked with a smile, "How tall?"
It occurred to me that Rannan was also taller than me, and he had been a wonderful lover. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad, for Ellette.
"Tall men can be a lot of fun," I added mischievously.

I thought about Sebastian's higth, "I think he's at least a foot taller than me, maybe a little more."
I smiled at Julie's statment and then asked, a little tease in my voice, "and do you have a tall man that you are enjoying?"

"Well, there was this very handsome man I met at the Coronation," I replied mysteriously. "The difference wasn't as impressive as it would be with you and your patron, but it still made things interesting."
It took me to thinking... She was also golden skinned, of Dahlia... Oh gods. Was this Rannan's sister? And he mentioned they didn't get along so well... Oh gods. I chose not to mention it - just in case, though...
"He was very nice, very kind. And sun-kissed, not unlike you," I said with a smile of sincere praise.
I didn't want to force the issue - but I didn't want to lie. Oh gods.

I smiled at Julie as she talked about the man. He sounded like a good person, she had obviously found him to be so.
"Well, I will say that having this skin tone does have its benefits. If anything I do not have to worry about getting to much sun, more sun simply makes me darker and more exotic."

“Oh, you are very pretty, and indeed very exotic,” I told her with a grin. “I, on the other hand, suffer from the sun quite a bit, but it doesn’t stop me. I am in dire need of fresh air,” I added with a wink.
There was a shop to the left, and I indicated it with a quizzical look. “You want to try that one?”

I smiled at Julie's compliment. I looked over to the shop she pointed at, "looks fine," I told her, "lets see what they have." I made my way inside but on the way in I said, "you do seem a bit like an outdoors type of person."

I followed Ellette inside, sighing inwardly at the whole expanse of dressed that lay ahead of me. Argh. I still felt no inclination at all, even it I would always make the effort for events.
"Yes, I am," I replied with a smile. "In fact, I do feel somewhat stifled in the city. Are you as well?"
