It was a morning like any other, save that in the pile of correspondence that pertained to the Lorean estate, a small card with the L'Envers crest was the first of the pile.
A wedding - I was invited to the wedding of His Grace, the Sovereign Duc of Namarre. My eye brow lifted in surprise, and I let the carton stay on my desk, piling over the ledgers and vouchers to review.
It was beckoning to me, though, and it made me restless. Was it that he was getting married to an adept? That was a situation which reminded me of Seraph, and thinking of Seraphin, these days, made me restless. The events on Coronation night had troubled me and had never settled in my mind.
And so I left home, intent on doing something else - and as long as I was out, I would find something to wear for the occasion. My steps took me to the Clothiers' district, and looked about the shops, hoping to see if one would entice me to enter.

I didn't mind that I had been asked to attend the L'Envers wedding; I was however concerned that my wardrobe, with all of my new gowns, costumes and dresses, didn't include such finery befitting an appearance at such an occasion. And after riffling through all of the contents of my trunk and cherry-wood wardrobe I knew it to be true. I would simply have to acquire a new gown.
Taking a carriage down I managed to get to my destination without much of a delay, and since the day had turned out to be nice, sunny and warm I was actually glad of the chance to be out and about. I was about halfway to the first promising vendor I could spy when I by chance I spied a rather dashing figure standing amidst the vendors and looking almost lost amid the people dashing here or there with a place to be.
Hoping to be of some help I vied away from the seller, aligning my steps to bring me face to face with him. "Would you be looking for a suggestion, my lord, or for one in particular?" I asked him politely, a sweet smile playing at my lips as I did.

My mind had been rather busy trying to figure out the ins and outs, and to be true, I had not bothered with Fete gear in such a long time, I had no idea where to go. A lively voice rose, likely addressing me, and I turned. Cascading auburn hair, striking blue eyes, and a very large mouth splitting her chiseled face with a wide smile. Very lovely, indeed.
"As a matter of fact, I am," I replied agreeably, my smile spreading in response to hers. "I will admit, I have not shopped for fete garments in a long, long time, having spent the last few months abroad." That I had attended the Coronation in my coat of arms went unsaid - it had been an emergency solution - but this was a summer event, and I was not attending it in leather, no matter how much I cared for it.

"I would be happy to help direct you in the right direction, or if you don't mind a little company I'd be more than pleased to show you around." I told him, a light laugh accompanying my words, and I knew my eyes were nearly sparkling with pleasure, ever glad to lend a helping hand.
"I have found myself almost lost amidst the shops here once or twice, but having recently bought a new wardrobe I should hope to be well acquainted with the selections here." I said with a laugh, "It did surprise me though, that with all the things I have that I had nothing suitable to wear to a wedding. Of all things, really, that one I hadn't thought of." and hoping that he didn't mind my rambling I added, "Oh, and I'm Genevie, of Orchis House if you hadn't already guessed."

I laughed more and more, as she spoke. That she was Orchis was no surprise, but really, I had not thought on the matter, for she was pretty and holding herself enough to be a peer. Inclining my head, I pronounced my name, "Sebastien de Lorean, and pleased to meet you, Genevie, Lady of Orchis house, and of neverending chatter,” but I was not annoyed in the least, and gave her a ridiculously ceremonious bow for it. “Your company will be highly appreciated, if you are generous enough to assist the fashion-challenged,” I added, my face all grins and chuckles. She was very uplifting – and I wagered her House prized her for it.

His laughter was quite pleasant and I was glad of his play at courtly etiquette, "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Sebastien," I said lightly, "I shall be happy to accompany you on your foray into the unknown," and laughing in turn with him I added, "Let's just hope that we both can find something suitable among all these endless streams of fashionable clothing."

I sighed, for I did have an aversion to shopping, and taking her arm under mine as naturally as she had called me by name unbidden, I replied good-naturedly, “Yes, let us, and see what treasures lurk in the shadows of this district, Genevie.”
At least, she seemed to know what she was doing, and her joyful presence would likely lift my mood. What she did not know, was that I loved adepts, as homage to my beloved Seraph, and so she had a great deal of lee-way in her dealings with me, as I had bidden Calista under the harsh hand of the Shahrizai. Eyes curious, I asked, “And where might you guide me, lovely savior?”

I was so intent on making a good impression that I had unintentionally called him by name. A blush came unbidden to my cheeks as he took my arm and I found myself thankful that he hadn't been offended by it.
"I believe that we can try our luck, at that booth over there," I said, turning slightly to indicate the booth with the silver star under the eaves of the wooden roof, "I'd had my eye on it just before finding you, actually, and if I remember correctly they have very good quality craftsmanship, and an eye for color."

"Excellent, pretty lady," I replied as I took the first step towards the shop. "Lucky star, perhaps? I am lucky already to have met such lovely company, no doubt," I told her, my smile wide and pleasant.
"I will rest myself in your capable skill, if you don't mind," I added, "for I am the most inadequate shopper you will meet, and you, in turn, appear to be rather in the habit of it."
My eyes traced her pretty silhouette. She was pleasant, and lovely, and very enticing, I thought.

I could feel the color of my cheeks deepening in a blush as he continued, "I would be very glad if it did turn out to be our lucky star, that would make for a very good afternoon of shopping." I told him.

"Yes, it would, wouldn't it?" I asked, smiling agreeably.
Opening the door, I held it for her. "If my beautiful Lady of Orchis would kindly oblige?"
I was thinking about what I wanted - not something heavy, but something elegant and practical. Something a former military would wear - I never did loose the habit of the uniform.

"Why thank you," I said, catching sight of the colors in the room; fabrics in every shade and hue of the rainbow, some that captured light and reflected it back, sparkling like in shades of gold and jewels. And others that held the darkest depths of color, embers and ashes, blood and shadows, and it was amazing.
"Ah, now this is why I love coming here; so much to choose from and to look at." I said, grinning as I ran my hand across a silken gown the very shade of my eyes.

My eyes took in the room instantly, a scout's habit, taken on the sands of Kebbel-im-Akkad. It did me well, and the place had indeed wondrous colors.
I noticed Genevie fingering a dress, and looking at it, "It seems someone captured your gaze and replicated it on fabric," I told her with a teasing grin. "You should try it on," I added warmly.

A laugh escaped my lips as I grinned, "I think I will," I said, pulling the gown down from the wall, giving a teasing grin to Sebastien and looking around for someone who might be able to assist me. "I'm of a mind to enjoy the afternoon, and you should to," I said, motioning for a girl from the shop to assist me with the gown and heading back to the curtained changing room.

As she was off, I browsed, capturing at last a long vest of elegant off-white and blue, and breeches of of white, matching the collar of the vest. The clerk grinned, offering a that I try the ensemble on, and to my great pleasure, I found that my sword even hung comfortably at my side. I stepped out of the booth, wondering what Genevie would think. It was different, but I felt rather pleased with my find.

After trying on several items I found what I was looking for. Something eye catching and beautiful at the same time, and even a few accessories to go right along with it. I settled on a pale colored dress with beaded details and a flowing skirt, the color just perfect to set off my hair and let my eyes shine. The cut of the dress accentuated the long line of my back and hugged close at my hips, showing off hints of skin down my front and showing a little of my marque on my back, even unfinished as it was it looked great against the color of the fabric. The beads sparkling against my skin and across the top of the dress, the skirt parting in multiple folds all the way down and showing just the tips of my toes when I walked.

I nodded, smiling at Genevie - she looked very pretty in that dress - it was original. She didn't quite comment on the outfit, and I browsed more, settling in the end for an outfit that would me more simple : a blue jacket, white shirt and matching pants, black boots to mid-thigh. I would carry my sword for ceremony, and hoped it would do. I was tired of shopping already. I stood by the counter, satisfied, and once I had paid for my dues, I bid my good bye, promising her a dance at the wedding.

His find was splendid in its simplicity and it favored his look. I was pleased with my find as well and went to make my purchase, giving Sebastien a winning smile when I met him there.
On our way out I bid him farewell as he left, smiling at his promise of a dance at the wedding, hoping to see him there as well and made my way through the shops in search of a few other things to add to my ensemble.
