The sound of her voice made me jump some, as unexpected as it was, and I felt a light crimson enter my cheeks as I looked up. "Of course not," I said with a smile, plucking the dress off the rack to hand to her. "And, if you do not mind me saying so, I think it would look lovely with your skin and hair."

"I suppose I should. I can only afford one so I was trying to decide which color I liked better but maybe I should see if they fit." I said.
Turning I walked to a booth and took off the old jacket I had on and first put on the blue one. It didn't quite fit right so I put on the red one. It fit fairly well so I walked back out to Siegfried. "How do I look?"

I saw the girl jump a little and blush. I smiled warmly to her, trying to reassure her.
"Thank you" I said taking the dress."And no I don't mind. I thought the same thing when I saw you looking at it. It suits me better than the red one over there." I said smiling again.
The dress was much like the red one but with little touches of beads. It was subtle yet had that little extra. I loved it!
"I'm Christelle de Demitri by the way."

"Pleased to meet you," I said automatically, a warm smile on my face. "I'm Calista no Valerian." Thumbing through the rack absent mindedly, I glanced at her, my smile softened but still there. "Are you looking forward to the coronation and fete?"
I assumed she was shopping for them, and though assumptions could turn out wrongly I did not think this one would.

I'd tried all 3 outfits, and my heart was set on the dark crimson jacket, but I needed the ultimate confirmation.
Still wearing the crimson and black outfit, I stepped out of the booth, I went back to the main area, and relieved, I noted that the black haired peer and the silent adept were still there, talking rags and nips, of course.
Striding over by them, I bowed deeply to both, peer and adept alike, and introduced myself, "Forgive my rude interruption, fair Ladies. Would you kindly lend your expert eye to a stranded fellow shopper, and give an unbiased opinion?"

"Yes, I am. I'm new to the city and have never been to such a big event. Is that what you're shopping for as well?" I was asking when the Caerdicci man came up. "I would be glad to." I said, smiling yet again. "How about you" I asked Calista.

"Mael, you look rather dashing, if I may say so," I replied in all earnest. I would never have worn red, but Mael being an artist, this kind of excentricity suited his persona, and he looked rather enticing in the wildly remarkable jacket.

"Oh," I said softly, smiling. "Welcome to the City, then, if no one has said it before now."
I deferred without thinking to Christelle when the handsome man walked up, though I didn't make either of them wait on my responce when I was specifically called upon to answer a question. "Of course," I said, transferring my smile from Christelles pretty face to that of the at least partial d'Angeline man before the both of us.

"Thank you." I said. Looking at myself in a mirror. I thought the red might be a bit much but I think I could pull it off. Hopefully I could find some matching pants. And a nice shirt, preferably without paint on it, to wear underneath.

"How very gracious," I smiled affably. "Well, in all earnest, tell me, what does your exquisite feminine taste say to this outfit ?"

I looked at the outfit he had on.
" I think the outfit suits you fairly well. Without seeing it on, I might have said it was a little too dark for you, but," pausing to look the outfit over again, "it looks amazing on you."
Turning to Calista I said, "What do you think?"

"It looks..." Pausing, I shifted for the right phrase, attempting to keep my playful wording at bay, "...somehow right on you, as if you had it commissioned yourself."
Bold for me, but I looked at him in the eye as I spoke, though I felt the color wanting to return to my cheeks. Glancing to Christelle I gave a small smile, then looked back up to the gentleman before us.

Satisfied, I smiled. The peer's moderated comment was fair, and the adept, though she had spirit, had been more then flattering. It would do.
"Rest assured of the Duca's neverending gratitude, fair Ladies," I replied as I bowed again, a deep bow of reverence. Then, I smiled devilishly, and left without further ado for the booth.
Let them wonder a bit, I thought.

"Duca?" I said aloud after he left. It didn't ring a bell but neither did many names. I'd only been in a the city a little while and did not know that many people. "Do you know who he was?" I asked turning to Calista.

I scratched my chin in thought. "Mael, I do like the red jacket, but what are you going to wear with that?"

I was just thinking exactly that. The only thing that would raelly go with this is some pants of the same shade." I looked around the store. "I don't think I'm going to find any.

I shook my head, my gaze following his departing form before glancing back to Christelle. "I don't," I said, though my tone turned thoughtful. "Duca is associated with La Serenissma, which would account for his partial d'Angeline looks. All speculation, of course," I added, looking up at her. "But you never can tell."

"I don't know," I said, thumbing a dress absent mindedly. "I'm generally drawn to deeper reds, but I just wore one on the Longest Night and wanted something different. Blue, mayhap? Green?" I truly was lost on which to settle on, though I gave Christelle an apologetic look. "I'm sorry; my indecision isn't precisely a matter of good subject."

I looked around, trying to help but feeling sorry for Mael that he had a terrible helper such as me to assist him.
I pulled out some white breeches from a rack. "What about these? If you were to choose a contrasting shirt, in black perhaps?"

In the booth, I changed back to my everyday jacket, a subtle thing of forest green velvet, and, prepared to leave, I made arrangements for the outfits to be sent home.
Satisfied with my day, I gave the ladies a rather low bow, and left the shop, intending to enjoy the rest of the day as leisurely as possible.

"Hmm, that just may do. Good eye Siegfried." I said taking them. Putting them up to the jacket to see how they would look together.

I smiled to myself, surprised that Mael may have liked my suggestion. "Anytime. Why don't you try them on? I'll look for the shirt, since it seems I am on a roll."

"Alright." I said. I walked back to the booth where I had left my other jacket and changed into the breeches. I walked back out but didn't see Siegfried. I admired myself in the mirror waiting for him to come back.

I'd been digging with the clerk in the new spring stock, some lovely black shirts of Eisandine linen had arrived, and we had finally found what I had gauged would be Mael's fit.
Triumphant, I returned, finding Mael in the mirror, admiring himself in a stunningly flashy red jacket. I blinked a littled. "Here, freshly dug out of the new arrivals, just for you," I said as I handed him the shirt. "Rather powerdul color, indeed," I noted.

"Wow." I said taking the shirt and admiring it. It was rather soft as I ran it through my fingers. I went back to the booth once again and put on the shirt. I felt very confident in my appearance I strolled back out.

"You look great," I said when Mael came out, and I thought it. It was a smart look, yet it reflected his intelligence and artistic tendencies. "Just stay away from paint when you wear this outfit."

I laughed. Secretly planning on rapping this outfit up and sticking it in the back of my closet when I got home, just to make sure I wouldn't get anything on it. But I wasn't going to tell him that.Instead I smiled and said, "I'll sure try not to."

"I still need just a few nice plain shirts." I said. "Ones with no paint,...yet." I walked over to a rack of shirts and picked out a few. A couple pale blue, a forrest green, and an odd but nice shade of orange. "There," I said, "this should do it."
