Fiona,
I hope this finds you well and settling into the flow of life in the City. Regarding the matter we discussed, I have found several possible openings for you, but I think the one that may suit best is here in the Palace. My mother’s personal assistant here in the City has grown of an age where she would prefer to spend her time at home in Azzalle and thus my mother finds herself in need of a replacement. The position entails mostly letter writing, keeping her schedule, and various other light duties. There would be no need to travel away from the City as my mother has an assistant in Azzalle already. Mother has also been made aware of your desire to attend the Academy and is more than happy to give you time for classes and to study. As you would be working for her, I will let her discuss salary with you, but rest assured it will be more than enough to cover your expenses and perhaps even set a bit aside.
If this suits, please let me know and I will arrange a meeting with my mother, she is most anxious to meet you.
Best regards, Prince Augustin de Trevalion

I had just returned from a meeting with the registrar at the Academy. It appeared that they would have an opening for me in two weeks time in the D’Angeline literature class, and I could begin my music lessons immediately. Knowing I still had much to do to settle in – including finding employment, not to mention attend the Beltane festivities – I asked to start in a week. I knew I would have my hands full until then.
I passed my landlord’s door on the way to my suite, and he flagged me down. Apparently it wasn’t every day that a tenant received a letter from the palace. I thanked him with a smile, but waited until I was in the privacy of my rooms before opening it.
A grin spread across my face as I read August’s words, and I penned a reply in my neat hand.

Fiona,
I am delighted to hear you are settling in. I’ve spoken with Mother and she will see you tomorrow afternoon at half past three in her rooms here at the Palace. She is quite looking forward to meeting you, and I am certain you will both get on well.
Best wishes, Prince Augustin

Fiona,
My mother has thanked me several times already for sending you to her, she is well pleased with you. I am very happy that my instincts were right and that you two came to an agreement. Though I am certain that even if things had not worked out with my mother you would still have found a fine position with your skills.
I am certain I will see you around the Palace, until then,
Prince Augustin
