I helped her step up into her carriage, waiting until the last moment to remove my hand from the small of her back. The books, that I had forgotten to pay for in my haste, I slid onto the floor of the carriage and off to one side.
"It is my preference to walk where I might." I stated as I stepped up into the carriage. I sat directly opposite of her, though I would have rather sat next to her. The distance was in order to, hopefully, allow our skins to cool enough that we might make it until Beltane. Ah but this was a strange thing, especially after having spoken with Prince Augustin earlier about courting and the like.

I was slightly saddened that he sat across from me, but I think it was the best considering. "How wonderful," I said happily. "Its refreshing to hear that there are people out there that enjoy walking still." I chuckled, my foot brushing his by accident. The carriage was small as I had a modest living, but it afford a closeness that was proper.

I nodded, eyes bright. "Blessed Elua walked, and as he did so flowers sprang up in his steps. Why should I deem myself unworthy of doing the same." I chuckled. "Minus the flowers, at any rate. There are so many things one might admire, even in a City, while walking." I felt her foot brush mine and smiled.

I chuckled softly. "You should be careful who you say that to, they might think you an egotist." I said with a smile. Damned Beltane!

"We are all egotists, to some extent." I murmured. "It is simply how far we may carry it before setting it at the wayside and realising that we are no better than most others."

I chuckled. "Well said." I replied smiling. "Do you have siblings Aloysius?" I asked trying to keep things light.

I smiled broadly at her question. "I do. Two sisters." My thoughts dwelt with them momentarily. I wish I could have invited them to Beltane..."Yourself, Sidonie?"

"No, I have no siblings." I said smiling. "Are they younger?" I in haled deeply and tried not to think about Aloysius' broad hands and where they would...Stop it, stop it.

I nodded once, tracing the lines of her face, neck, and shoulders with my eyes. "One. The other is older than I by nearly two years." They would both be envious of my time at Beltane though. I promised I would pick them up something in my head. If my head remembered.

"Sabine and Marcelle." I smiled. "Older and younger, respectively."

I nodded. "Lovely names." I said smiling. "Though I guess you didn't pick them so I can't give you credit." I teased.

I chuckled. "No, I certainly did not choose them. But thank you, I will pass your compliment along to the appropriate parties."

I leaned forward then, almost unable to hold myself back. "You're welcome." I almost kissed her full on the mouth. It would have ruined the unspoken promise we made in the bookstore. Instead I kissed her neck, biting gently. I had to fight the movement of the coach as well. Damnable thing, but at least it afforded privacy. Doing this in the middle of the street...I don't even want to think about that.

I inhaled softly and shortly. "Thank you." I whispered, not thinking, as I leaned into his lips.

I strayed from my seat, moving to sit next to her. "I pray to any who will listen that we make it through dinner. I hope for my sake we don't." All this came out in a breathless whisper. What was I doing? What was I thinking? I had just met this woman...yet...

I tried to pull back but my body melted toward him. "By the gods." I whispered breathily. "That would ruin our evening horrible." I said finally with a bit of stength.
The carriage turned and began to slow. "I think we're here." I said softly.

"Then dinner, at the very least." I managed, not bothering to wait for the coachman. I opened the door myself, stepped down, and held a hand out for her. "After all, what could possible happen over a dinner?"
