"Oh, it's so lovely," I breathed, "you always know where the most beautiful things are."

I beamed, reaching for the picnic basket and pulling out the blanket I had brought for us to sit on, laying it out on the grass and stirring up even more fragrance. "I have a horded bottle of wine some bread, cheese, meat and even some fresh fruit, too." I told her, settling the blanket just right for us to be in the most sunniest spot.

"I would love some wine and fruit," I told her.

"Then you shall," I replied, sitting down on the blanket and grabing the basket to dig into its contents. Finding the wine first I set it beside me and went for the glasses. I had them each wrapped in a napkin so they wouldn't break and as I unrolled them I handed each to her to hold.
"I borrowed those from the kitchen so if they break I have to replace them," I winced, knowing how much that could cost me was not pleasant, even though they were not the best my house had they were still in one piece so they were worth something.
"This is ours, though," I beamed, grabing the cork pull I had brought along for the wine. "I saved it from Longest Night, we didn't actually drink very much that night so I kept hold of the extra till now." I told her, piercing the cork and twisting until it came out, the popping noise it made making me grin.

"I'll be careful, I promise," I said, holding out my glass so she could pour some wine into it.

"I didn't have a doubt," I commented as I poured, filling both glasses and setting the bottle aside. "Hmm, now for the fruit." I said, digging into the basket again, and pulling out grapes, apples and a hunk of aged white cheddar, speckled with pesto. "I absolutely love this cheese," I added, unwrapping it from the cloth and inhaling the aroma.
Setting them out on cloths on our blanket I also took out the shaved roast chicken breast and a fresh baguette that I'd had to cut in half to fit in the basket. "I hope you're hungry," I said, reaching for my wine glass so we could eat.

Picking up the baguette, I tore off a piece and took a bite. "Mmm, so fresh," I said, before helping myself to a cluster of grapes. "You always have such good taste."

"I try," I said with a smile, tearing apart a piece of bread and filling it with cheese, "I just love simplicity, and this is wonderful." I added, biting into the soft cheese and bread then washing it down with my wine.
Watching her smile was delightful, "I'm so glad I decided to do this, I've missed you so much," I gushed, so overly delighted at the very sight of her that I couldn't contain it any longer.

"I am just happy to be with you again," I told her, popping a grape into my mouth. "Perhaps I will be able to see you at the Beltane fete, though I think we will be unable to go home together."

"Oh yes, I'll be going with or without a patron, I want to enjoy the festivities as much as anyone." I replied, nibbling at some of the roast fowl as I finished my cheese bread. "I haven't had much free time to enjoy the everyday things so the fete will be a wonderful change of pace." I grinned, finishing off my first glass of wine.

"What will you wear?" I asked her. If there's one thing I knew about Xaurora, it was that she always dressed impeccably.
