I stepped out of the carriage in the more affluent part of town. Rumor had circulated about the jeweler I was about to visit. It was said his custom pieces were flawless. I wanted only the best for my gift to Renee. And mayhap something for myself as well.
Carefully I smoothed my pale lavender gown and checked my hair before approaching the store front to peruse the quality of the wares before entering.

I had exited the Grande Magasin de Soie affter speaking with Christien and began to wander, a carriage caught my eye and noticed the royal crest. Interesting. I began to walk a little further and saw a figure standing outside, well well, the Princess Dauphine herself. I walked a little further then came to stand beside her staring up at the items in the window.
"I think they look better in person." I said eyeing the items. "At least thats what I've always found." I added with a shrug.

A male voice interrupted my perusal of the items in the window. He was, familiar? Yes, I knew I knew him, but-
"Denis?" Astonishing. I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen him, not since we were children. Well, at least the last time I'd remembered seeing him. I remembered his sister much better. She'd plaited my hair into fancy braids on more than one occasion and I'd adored her for giving me that little bit of her attention.
"I- I almost didn't recognize you. Well met." I turned back to the window, trying to unfluster myself. He was much changed, and for the better. " I'm just trying to gage the artist's skill. I want to commission a piece for Renee, mayhap myself."

I bowed to Coretta when she turned to me and I was slightly surprised that she had recognized me at all. I hadn't spend much time with her as a child and it had been a long time since then.
She was much more beautiful in person and I had to give a wry half smile as she turned back to the window.
"And how does your little sister fair." I asked curiously. "Your brother says shes is quite taken with you." I rocked forward lightly on my toes and turned to her.
"Perhaps we should do in and see what there is to see?"

"Hmm, I suppose going in is a good idea." I smoothed my skirts and fixed a pleasant smile on my face. I was still feeling melancholy from visiting the temple and didn't want to be rude to Denis. Blast, I really can't believe it's him, he was so... it was the voice. I remembered hints of it as he was going through that last awkward stage before maturing. Well, mystery solved.
"Renee is an absolute peach. Just the sweetest little thing. She smiles at me when I come to see her. Smiles. I've never seen babies smile like she does." I couldn't help the warmth in my voice. I loved Renee with all my heart. My head tipped to the side as I looked back at him. "And when did you see my brother? He said nothing to me about having met up with you." Trust Moon to not keep me abreast of the latest happenings. I blamed Draca of course, his head was all wrapped up in her. Well, mayhap not his head.

I smiled happily as she spoke of her baby sister and her connection with Renee was obviously deep. I nodded and listened being fair polite.
"I saw your brother at the L'Envers wedding." I said looking back to the window with a impish smile and looked back at her. "And just recently he was looking at fabric for a new outfit, we just happened to bump into each other there." I added giving her a wry grin.
"Shall we?" I asked offering my arm to her.

I inclined my head slightly and slipped my arm through his.
"Really? Christien is shopping on his own, willingly? He must be drugged or very brave. Usually he lets me choose for him, or at the very least takes my suggestions. Hmm." we entered the shop, immediately surrounded by glass cases and shelves filled with beautiful artworks. I saw a display of painted fans that made my heart lift. Gorgeous! I'd look at them in minute.
"Did either of you find anything suitable to wear to the hunt?"

I gave her a wry look, my smile both coy and curt as I tried not to chuckle.
"Perhaps, there were some lovely fabrics." I said looking around the shoppe. "Though I'm sure Christien would enjoy some advice for his little sister."

"Little sister? There are only ten minutes separating my twin and I. Ten. Everyone acts as if it's years not minutes." I grumped. I so hated being referred to as someone else's little sister.
"Well, mayhap he'll just have to wear whatever he picks without my sage advise. It is only a hunt after all. Mud, blood and sweat all day. Ugh." I let go of Denis' arm to step closer to the display of fans. They were gorgeous. Some made of ivory, gold and ebony. One with lacquered red wood caught my eye.

I chuckled freely as she seemed to become aggrivated at my jest. I allowed her hand to come freely from my arm and leaned against one of the more solid displays.
"Services him right then for not listening to you." I added looking over the item she held. "Is it really that exciting?" I teased furrowing my brows slightly though still smiling, she was quite beautiful as she gazed at the jewelry before her. "Mud, blood and sweat all day."

Lovely, simply lovely. The red fan was hand painted in the Ch'in style, a scene of lotus blossoms on a koi pond. I picked it up and tried it out. The sticks snapped together and unfurled with a delicious clicking noise, smooth, graceful. My slender wrist flicked and moved it with practiced ease. I gave Denis a pretty moue.
"Yes. So gray, crimson or brown are the ideal colors to wear so no one can see how disgusting one is when covered with any or all of those substances. I am looking forward to riding though. Otherwise it all seems dull to me. I take it you're an avid hunter, my lord?" I said archly holding the fan in my left hand, flicking it coyly in front of my lips to hide my smile.

Chuckling at her comment of colours to use when dressing for such an event, I watched her wave a fan about taken in by the grace of her wrist movements.
"Not as such," I said watching her eyes and fan. "Like you I enjoy the riding, I'm not particularly interested in killing wild beasts. I think I'll leave that to those who are experienced at such things." I reached out and touched my hand to hers lowering the fan enough so that I could see her lips.
"Now why would you want to go and do that Highness?" I said removing my hand from hers though let the touch linger gently.

I snapped the fan shut and placed it on the counter. If anyone ever showed up, I'd purchase it. I picked up another one in white silk, the sticks a lovely ebony. Interesting flowers and shapes were painted in cobalt blue. I thought of the fete after the hunt. It would go well enough with my gown. I snapped this one open and fluttered it as if to cool my overheated cheeks.
"Why would I do what, milord?" I said archly, "I am merely admiring these fine wares."

I smiled with a wry grin and leaned over placing my lips a hair's breath from her ear, I let my warm breath invade her senses before speaking. My body leaning into hers ever so slightly, I could feel her warmth and I inhaled deeply taking in her wonderous scent.
"I meant...why would you want to hide such a beautiful smile." I whispered before lingering with a wry smile then shifting past her, brushing myself against her ever so lightly as I did. I moved to behind her and began to peruse a tray of rings under glass.

My eyes followed him as he moved behind me. Goosbumps pricked my skin and I rubbed absently at my ear to erase the tingles his breath had caused. I watched him looking at something in a case. What was he playing at? I liked the attention, no doubt of that. But why, why was he lavishing it on me now?
My musings were interupted by the arrival of the owner. He hurried over and bowed crisply before smiling. "Welcome to Maison des Métiers. Please forgive me for leaving you to wander, I was finishing up a new piece. My name is Phillippe le Hardi. Is there anything I can show you today?" I put on my best Court Smile and smoothed my gown.
"Yes, acctually. I would like to commission a bracelet for my baby sister. And purchase a few of your wonderful fans." I snapped shut the one in my hand and laid it on the case next to the red one. No doubt I'd pick up a few more.

I smiled to the owner as he arrived, I leaned over onto the case watching Coretta as she delt with him. I was curious about what she would create for the young Princess Renee, so I simply watched the interaction.
